hey ladies and gentlemen this is carmind
0:01
Saia for explain America and Fox News
0:05
host or former Fox News host Pete hegf
0:08
decorated military veteran and Trump's
0:11
nominee to be defense secretary but he
0:15
just got some really good news today
0:17
before we get started please make sure
0:18

0:36
helps us
0:37
out you guys know you've been following
0:39
right Pete heg Seth is going being put
0:41
through the ringer and I think a lot of
0:43
that is because Matt Gates's nomination
0:45
tanked so quickly that the establishment
0:48
people are feeling kind of strong we got
0:50
rid of one let's get rid of the rest
0:51
right but it's not going to be that easy
0:53
with Heth because Heth like Trump is a
0:55
fighter Gates's also a fighter but the
0:58
problem he faced was I think an
1:01
insurmountable level of
1:03
disdain that people in Washington DC
1:05
have for him no Pete he doesn't have
1:09
that right and so in his case it's a lot
1:12
easier to move people along and get them
1:16
get him confirmed and I think the
1:19
Senators are getting ready to come on
1:21
board you're seeing a lot of vocal
1:22
support from people like speaker Mike
1:25
Johnson and from a lot of the Senators
1:27
including this one who had an appearance
1:29
on a Sunday show today where he said he
1:32
believes that heg Seth will be confirmed
1:35
I want you to watch this and let me know
1:37
what you think in the comments Senators
1:39
there's been absolutely no NOS from
1:41
Republican Senators at this point he
1:43
continues to make his case and his case
1:45
is is something that I when he sits down
1:47
with you he's able to articulate very
1:49
well I think Pete will make an
1:51
outstanding Secretary of Defense and and
1:53
I believe that he's going through the
1:55
process now he has an uphill battle but
1:57
he's taken the fight straight to Capitol
1:59
Hill like he should he's going to have a
2:00
hearing in in Senate armed services
2:03
he'll have to answer TW tough questions
2:05
and I believe he'll be able to answer
2:06
every one of them at the end of the day
2:08
I believe uh I believe Pete will be our
2:10
next secretary of defense and he'll be
2:11
perfect for the role I mean right now
2:13
we've had secretary Austin secretary
2:14
Austin is a general in the Army he has
2:16
been a disaster we have low morale the
2:19
only reason why we are even kind of
2:21
close to having some up some type of
2:24
recruiting numbers is because he's
2:25
lowered the threshold but we're nowhere
2:27
near where we should be or where the uh
2:29
previous threshold for recruitment
2:30
should be because people aren't wanting
2:32
to fight for secretary Austin you have
2:34
Pete who is a combat veteran two bronze
2:36
Stars uh he was a major in the Army he's
2:39
been in the public sector he'll go there
2:40
and make the changes and uh in the
2:42
defense department that needs to take
2:44
place and and I think he's exactly the
2:46
one we need which is why I believe he
2:47
will get confirmed at the end of the day
2:49
a number of your fellow Republican
2:50
Senators have uh publicly expressed
2:53
concern about heess pardon me reputation
2:57
for excessive alcohol drink drinking um
3:00
here is what heg Seth said a few days
3:02
ago on the Megan Kelly
3:05
show first of all um I've never had a
3:09
drinking problem I don't um never no
3:11
one's ever approached me and said oh you
3:13
you should really look at getting help
3:14
for a drink never I've never sought
3:16
counseling never sought help I respect
3:18
and appreciate people who who
3:20
do just a few years ago however on the
3:23
will Kan show this is how heg described
3:27
his experience with alcohol after
3:29
returning from
3:31
Iraq I'd look around at 10 o' and be
3:33
like what am I going to do today how
3:35
would I drink some beers how would I go
3:36
have lunch and have some beers how about
3:38
I meet my one or two buddies and have
3:39
some beers and one beers leads to many
3:42
leads to self-medication leads to I've
3:44
earned this like what do you don't tell
3:46
me I
3:48
can't it seems to be in that will Kane
3:50
clip that he's describing having a
3:52
drinking problem how do you reconcile
3:54
that with him now claiming that he's
3:56
never had an issue with alcohol
3:59
Jake that wasn't him saying he had an
4:02
alcohol problem that was him being
4:03
honest unfortunately a lot of our combat
4:05
vets have come back and Fa the same
4:07
thing that they're setting there and
4:08
they they were they had their identity
4:10
in the service they had a job to do they
4:12
were responsible for certain things and
4:13
they get out of the service in their
4:14
back and they're sitting their Twi or
4:16
thumbs they've had a lot of experiences
4:18
that the regular regular population
4:19
doesn't they have these memories these
4:21
thoughts these sounds uh the smells that
4:23
are still coming back to them and and
4:25
they turn to drinking with their buddies
4:27
that doesn't mean that they had a
4:28
drinking problem that means that every
4:29
comat veteran has had the same issues
4:31
that's why they have BFW set up uh
4:33
that's why they have American Legion set
4:35
up what he was describing is what most
4:37
uh combat veterans have faced and and
4:40
for for the for the media to go after
4:42
him and start describing that as a
4:43
drinking problem is individuals that
4:45
doesn't understand combat veterans
4:46
because they've never been there they've
4:48
never been in combat they've never seen
4:49
the horrific stuff that comes by that
4:51
they've never tasted the dirt in their
4:52
mouth they've never heard the horrible
4:53
sounds in their ears
