Hey ladies and gentlemen, Carmine Sabia here for Explain America, and there is a twist
0:04
there is a turn, and there's a shake up in the Donald Trump classified documents case
0:10
Before we get started, folks, please make sure you like, comment, share, and subscribe

Those little things really help us out and they help our channel continue to grow
0:19
This week, Donald Trump's lawyers asked for, and it was right before the deadline, they
0:24
asked for a delay in the trial to an unspecified date after the 2024 presidential election
0:31
And now Jack Smith, the special counsel, he's responded to that request in his own filing
0:37
to the court. Before I get into what he said, I want you to know what Trump's team said
0:42
What they basically said was, during the course of a presidential campaign, this man has to
0:46
be out there, he has to be meeting and greeting people, he has to be doing events, interviews
0:51
all kinds of things like that. How can he possibly do that and also defend himself in this trial
0:57
It's almost impossible. But their bigger concern, their bigger concern, and I think the one that really has merit
1:05
here is they're saying, how can we get a fair jury? And if you can't get a fair jury, you can't get a fair trial
1:13
They're saying, how can we get a fair jury if you have, during the primaries, Republicans
1:17
attacking Trump, hitting him with all kinds of things, making people go against him, making
1:22
people think negative thoughts about him? Then you have Democrats in the general election, they're going to be going after Trump
1:29
They're going to be making negative statements against him. They're going to be going off on him and bringing all these negative things to light
1:35
You do all that, and that's in the public perception every day
1:40
Don't forget, this is in Florida. The trial's in Florida. And that means Florida's like a battleground state
1:47
Even though it's pretty red, it's still considered a battleground state. Democrats aren't just going to give up on it
1:52
They're going to be running ads there. Republicans are going to be running a lot of ads there for the primaries, ads constantly
1:58
harping on negative things about Donald Trump, and then he's supposed to get a fair jury
2:03
So Jack Smith has responded to this, the special counsel in the case, and he says it's complete nonsense
2:10
He says that Trump absolutely can get a fair jury here. He said that it's a slight on the court for Trump to suggest that he can't get a fair
2:17
jury here, and that it would be such an unprecedented move to move this case past the election to
2:23
an unspecified date that it's ridiculous. And he says he wants the trial to start on December 13th of this year
2:31
Of this year. So that does give Trump's attorneys time to get their classified documents clearance so
2:37
they can review the evidence against their client, and it does set time for defense
2:43
But it's right smack in the middle of the campaign. Right smack in the middle of the campaign
2:49
So now Judge Eileen Cannon's on the hot seat. We have to find out what she's going to say
2:54
See, the Democrats are looking, and Jack Smith I believe is looking, for a way to get Cannon
2:58
off the case. And so if she acquiesces to Trump's demand here, well then that's going to be a red flag
3:04
for them, and then they're going to motion to get her removed from the case because they're going to say she can't be impartial
3:10
I think that is a trap that they've set, and I think they're going to use it to try and
3:15
get rid of Cannon. And that's what this whole thing is about. To get rid of Cannon, to get somebody who's negative to Trump in that judge's seat for
3:23
this trial. That's what I believe the whole thing is. But I want to know what you think it is, and what you think should be done here
3:30
So please leave that in the comments for me. I love reading your comments. I like to reply to them sometimes, and I try to every chance I get
3:37
And also make sure you like, share, and subscribe. Again that really helps us out
