What's going on, guys? This is Rob Smith for Explain America
0:03
So it looks like Trump wants another go at CNN and to try to do another town hall
0:10
Okay, so this is coming from Trump and his Truth Social. Oh, and by the way, he also called out a CNN contributor while he was doing that stuff
0:19
Okay, so let's get into this. So former President Donald Trump is proposing that CNN host him for another town hall event
0:25
He's taking a shot at a CNN contributor named Alyssa Farrah Griffin
0:30
You know Alyssa Farrah Griffin because she is one of the people that worked in the Trump
0:35
administration, right? So she's become sort of like this big-time anti-Trump figure
0:40
in the mainstream media. Okay, so according to Deadline, the Trump town hall that came out last week was a ratings
0:47
bonanza for CNN. Okay, everybody knows that CNN has been struggling in the ratings for the past couple of years
0:54
CNN's ratings are going down, down, down, but Trump pumped them up
0:59
3.3 million viewers tuned in to watch Donald Trump go toe-to-toe with CNN's big star
1:07
Caitlyn Collins. There were a lot of viral moments that came out of that, right
1:12
And so in a post on Truth Social, this was on May 20th, Trump called the town hall, quote
1:18
absolutely lovely. And he added that it was one of CNN's biggest rating nights in years
1:25
And while on Truth Social, he also proposed doing another town hall event
1:30
So as everybody knows, Truth Social is Donald Trump's social media platform
1:37
It was supposed to be his platform that he was going to create to sort of compete with
1:41
Twitter and to compete with all of the other platforms out there. Now, that hasn't exactly panned out, but he still makes news by posting on Truth Social
1:49
So I'm going to read you exactly what he said. Wow. Word is that they are revolting at the view in CNN and want Farrah out
1:58
Much more to come. She tried to delete out her words, but we got them all
2:03
I don't see how she lasts because this stuff shows what a phony she is
2:08
This is what Donald Trump posted on Truth Social. Much more to come
2:12
They won't be able to take the radical left heat just as CNN wants to fire the, quote
2:17
unquote, boss of the absolutely lovely town hall they just put on
2:22
One of their biggest rating nights in years. And they are begging for mercy
2:26
CNN, let's do another one. All right. So this is what he wrote on Truth Social again
2:32
Now, he went on to share a video of Alyssa Farrah Griffin praising her former boss, him
2:38
calling him a, quote, remarkable man and a strong leader for our nation
2:44
So the video showcases the political commentator reflecting on her initial meeting with Trump
2:51
which took place during her time working for then Vice President Mike Pence
2:57
So what is going on here is a couple of different things
3:01
First of all, both CNN and Donald Trump love each other. And they need to look
3:08
The ratings were huge. 3.3 million viewers in prime time is a bigger audience than CNN has gotten in a very, very
3:20
long time. So this is obviously something that is working for them
3:24
Also, when you saw a lot of those viral videos that happened between Donald Trump and Caitlyn
3:29
Collins, you know, there's a lot of people on the left that think that, oh, yeah, Caitlyn
3:34
Collins owned him. But then there's a lot of people on the right that think that Donald Trump did a really
3:40
good job. So it really does help in sort of jumpstarting the conversation. Right
3:47
So will there be another CNN Donald Trump town hall? From the looks of this, it seems as if there will be
3:55
God knows Donald Trump wants it. Again, guys, this is Rob Smith for Explain America
