Manu Raju who I think is just an
0:33
incredible reporter great honestly
0:36
really a great guy I watch him all the
0:39
time I'm I'm a big fan he confronted
0:42
dick Durban and Dick Durban is Senator
0:46
Senator Dick Durban is a
0:48
Democrat and you know usually get a
0:51
question from CNN it's an easy one mmanu
0:54
Raju says hey look in this continuing
0:56
resolution there's a
0:58
raise for Congress members house members
1:01
senate members cost of living increase
1:04
hasn't happened in over a decade but
1:06
considering the approval rating of
1:07
Congress do you think you guys deserve a
1:10
raise now after some wrangling they get
1:12
to Dick Durban turns around and says
1:14
well look at the media you guys lost
1:15
half your viewers and you still got the
1:16
same paycheck body slam right that was a
1:20
great statement I laughed but Manu
1:23
rogers's broader point is actually big
1:26
here dick Durban is the number two
1:29
ranking member on that committee number
1:31
two ranking member on that committee and
1:34
he didn't know a pay raise was in the
1:35
bill he didn't know until Manu Raju told
1:39
him what in the heck does that
1:42
say about everybody all these elected
1:45
officials Republican Democrat I don't
1:47
care what does it say 1500 page bill you
1:50
got a few days to read it and pass it
1:52
get out of here and now we're finding it
1:55
forget the pay raise who cares about the
1:56
pay raise we're finding out some of the
1:57
atrocious things in this bill I'm not
2:00
going to get into it here because I
2:01
don't want to get fact checked in case I
2:02
get anything
2:03
wrong but you can look it up online you
2:06
can go to your favorite representative
2:08
Republican Representatives account and
2:10
you can find it they'll tell you what it
2:11
is again I don't want to be
2:14
wrong there's stuff in there though
2:17
that's really off thewall beyond the pay
2:20
raise the pay raise is nothing compared
2:22
to the stuff in this bill and I
2:23
encourage you to read and look for those
2:25
parts 1500 page bill got a few days to
2:28
pass it absolutely ridiculous and the
2:30
number two Democrat on that committee
2:32
doesn't even know what's in
2:34
it get out of
2:37
here if the choic is that or shut the
2:39
government
2:41
down you guys decide what you want to do
2:44
I want you to watch this video and let
2:45
me know what you think in the
2:47
comments members are giving themselves a
2:49
pay raise do you guys deserve a pay
2:51
raise well that's news to me it's good
2:54
news you know what has it been 10 years
2:57
or 14 years and no Cola no change it all
3:01
I think it's about time something's done
3:03
you you support King giving yourself it
3:05
is how would I not
3:07
know but I mean but I mean people look
3:09
at the performance of Congress say why
3:11
should we give them more money what
3:12
about the media think about that for a
3:14
second and we're not paid by public
3:15
money I know you're not but I mean half
3:17
of your listeners are not there anymore
3:19
you still getting the same paycheck
3:20
what's going on well I mean you're
3:22
taxpayer money I mean you guys deserve a
3:24
raise
3:31
and uh Duran essentially said that yes
3:33
they should give themselves a raise and
3:36
what also that's noticeable though Jim
3:37
he wasn't aware that this was in the
3:39
provision and he's the number two Senate
3:41
Democrat just shows you how this was
3:43
negotiated among a handful of members
3:45
and they're going to have to vote on
3:46
this and members really won't have a
3:47
time to read it either Jim unreal but
3:50
Manu I have to say you are worth every
3:51
penny uh Manu Raju up on Capital Hill
3:54
for us thank you thank you very much uh
3:56
let's discuss more now with the
3:57
Republican uh Congressman Tim B of
4:00
Tennessee uh Congressman thanks for
4:01
being here this morning
