helps us out Marco Rubio did the Sunday
0:38
shows today and one of the questions he
0:41
was asked was about the infamous now JD
0:44
Vance speech in Munich Munich Germany
0:47
and in that speech if you're not
0:49
familiar with it JD Vance scolded the
0:51
Europeans he said you don't support Free
0:54
Speech here you you try to shut down
0:56
opposing views on the internet wherever
0:59
and it's dangerous
1:00
free speech is not dangerous you counter
1:04
free speech with other free speech and
1:06
the the Europeans were very offended by
1:08
this and the Democrats like how dare he
1:10
insult Europe in Europe well I mean you
1:13
guys insult America in America all the
1:17
time and you don't seem to care so when
1:21
Rubio comes on here the the the anchor
1:25
tries to kind of hearken to a certain
1:29
evil dictat Ator in a certain era of
1:31
Germany's past and say that you know
1:36
what Europe is doing is trying to avoid
1:39
that basically again and that she said
1:42
that these Germans they used free speech
1:46
in order to commit this genocide but
1:48
that's not the case they stifled speech
1:50
as soon as they took power and that's
1:53
what Rubio tried to explain to her and
1:55
he actually had to shut her down cuz she
1:57
wouldn't stop talking I want you to
1:59
watch this video and let me know what
2:01
you think in the comments I want to ask
2:03
you about what happened in Munich
2:05
Germany at the security conference vice
2:08
president Vance gave a speech and he
2:10
told us allies that the threat he
2:12
worries about the most is not Russia it
2:14
is not China he called it the threat
2:17
from within and he lectured about what
2:19
he described as censorship mainly
2:22
focusing though on including more views
2:24
from the right he also met with the
2:26
leader of a far right party known as the
2:29
afd which as you know is under
2:32
investigation uh and monitoring by
2:34
German intelligence because of
2:36
extremism what did all of this
2:39
accomplish other than irritating our
2:44
allies why why would our allies or
2:46
anybody be irritated by free speech and
2:48
by someone giving their opinion we are
2:50
after all democracies the music Munich
2:52
security conference is largely a
2:54
conference of democracies in which one
2:55
of the things that we cherish and value
2:57
is the ability to speak fely and provide
2:59
your opinions and so I think if anyone's
3:01
angry about his word they don't have to
3:03
agree with him but to be angry about it
3:05
I think actually makes his point I
3:06
thought it was actually a pretty
3:07
historic speech whether you agree with
3:09
him or not I think the valid points he's
3:11
making to Europe is we are concerned
3:13
that the True Values that we share the
3:15
values that bind us together with Europe
3:17
are things like free speech and
3:18
democracy and our shared history in
3:21
winning two world wars and defeating uh
3:23
Soviet communism and the like these are
3:25
the values that we shared in common and
3:26
in that cold war we fought against
3:28
things like censorship and oppress
3:30
and when you backsliding and you that
3:34
that's a very valid concern we can't
3:35
tell how to run their countries we
3:37
simply expressed in a speech his view of
3:39
it which a lot of people frankly share
3:41
and I thought he said a lot of things in
3:43
that speech that needed to be said and
3:45
honestly I don't know why anybody would
3:46
be upset about it people are allow you
3:48
know you you don't have to agree on
3:50
someone's speech I happen to agree with
3:52
a lot of what he said but you don't have
3:53
to agree with someone's speech uh to to
3:56
to at least appreciate the fact they
3:58
have a right to say it and that you
3:59
should listen to to it and see whether
4:00
those criticisms are valid I assure you
4:02
there the United States has come under
4:04
withering criticism on many occasions
4:06
from many leaders in Europe and we don't
4:08
go around throwing temper tantrums about
4:10
it well he was standing in a country
4:12
where Free Speech was weaponized to
4:15
contuct a genocide and he met with the
4:18
head of a political party that has farri
4:22
views and some historic ties to extreme
4:27
groups the context of that
4:30
was changing the tone of it and you know
4:34
that that the censorship dise
4:36
specifically about no I have to disagree
4:38
with
4:40
you free speech was not used to conduct
4:42
a genocide the genocide was conducted by
4:44
an authoritarian Nazi regime that
4:46
happened to also be genocidal because
4:48
they hated Jews and they hated
4:49
minorities and they hated those that
4:50
they they had a list of people they
4:52
hated but primarily the Jews there was
4:54
no free speech in Nazi Germany there was
4:56
none there was also no opposition in
4:57
Nazi Germany they were a soul and only
5:00
party that governed that country so
5:01
that's not an accurate reflection of
5:03
History I also think it's wrong again I
5:05
go back to the point of his speech okay
5:07
the point of his speech was basically
5:09
that there is an erosion in free speech
5:11
and intolerance for opposing points of
5:13
view within Europe and that's of concern
5:15
because that is eroding that's not an
5:17
erosion of your military capabilities
5:19
that's not an erosion of your economic
5:21
standing that's an erosion of the actual
5:23
values that bind us together in this
5:25
transatlantic Union that everybody talks
5:27
about and I think allies and friends and
5:29
partners that have worked together now
5:30
for 80 years should be able to speak
5:32
frankly to one another in open forms uh
5:35
without being offended insulted or upset
5:37
and I spoke to foreign ministers from
5:39
multiple countries throughout Europe
5:41
many of them probably didn't like the
5:42
speech or didn't agree with it but they
5:44
were continuing to engage with us on all
5:45
sorts of issues that unite us so again
5:48
at the end of the day I think that uh
5:50
you know people give all that is a form
5:52
in which you're supposed to be inviting
5:54
people to give speeches not basically a
5:56
chorus where everyone is saying the
5:58
exact same thing
