Hey ladies and gentlemen, this is Carmine Sabia for Explain America on YouTube, and
0:04
Nancy Pelosi just set alarm bells off with her recent appearance on cable news
0:11
Before we get started, please make sure you like, you comment, you share, and you subscribe
0:16
In this age where, you know, conservative voices are being suppressed, that's so important
0:20
to us and we really do appreciate it. So Nancy Pelosi was on MSNBC, which is probably the friendliest territory you can have if
0:28
you're a Democrat, and she said something that I found really interesting, you know
0:33
as she's complaining about Ukraine money and what the Republicans are doing with abortion
0:37
and this, that, and the other. She said something about book banning
0:41
I want you to hear it, and then I'm going to explain why I find it hilarious. Let's take a look
0:45
For the actual office that these Republicans hold, this Congress is on track to be the
0:51
I think it's the second least productive Congress in modern American history
0:56
And you know, a lot of excuses are made for that on the right, which is, oh, it's a slim
1:00
majority, etc., etc. You're Speaker of the House with a very slim majority and managed to get many things done
1:08
What would your advice to the current Speaker of the House be if he wanted to get anything done
1:13
Well, in addition to what some of those Republicans have said about their slim majority, some
1:18
of them have been bragging that they've sent all these bills over to the Senate
1:23
They're ridiculous bills that are never going to see the light of day
1:27
But some of them said, we've done a lot of things. One of them, one of the staff person said, well, we sent a letter and then we got the
1:34
mask mandate removed and we sent a letter about this or that
1:39
And now we're going to have a hearing on it. Their standard for accomplishment is very low, but they're anti governance
1:47
And if you remember that they're anti governance, this is a good thing for them because they're
1:53
accomplishing nothing. I do wonder if nothing good, nothing good. Yeah. And you mentioned some of the priorities for these Republican lawmakers in a vacuum
2:04
The most egregious things really stand out among them. Their war on reproductive freedom and the most recent comments from their titular head
2:11
They're not their informal head, their front runner, Donald Trump, who wants to replace Obamacare. Yes
2:18
Imagine that. Yeah. He when he was president, he said repeal and replace
2:26
He had no replacement. He just wanted to repeal. And he was defeated
2:32
And he was defeated not by just our inside maneuvering, but by the outside mobilization
2:38
the grassroots people, the people who benefit the millions of people who benefited from
2:43
the Affordable Care Act. It wasn't about them talking about provisions. It was them talking about their personal experience
2:50
And that's what we intend to do. We've already launched the same campaign we did then
2:55
We'll come full bloom around Martin Luther King weekend to again have the outside mobilization
3:01
to protect the Affordable Care Act, which has brought care to millions, nearly 20 million
3:08
more people in our country. And again, benefits, including the the most important one that affects so many people
3:17
is a pre-existing condition. The benefit of saying if you have a pre-existing condition, no longer can you be deprived of
3:24
care if you have. And we have no more term time limits, whether it's annual or lifetime time limits
3:30
The list goes on about the benefits that would be overturned as well
3:34
This is these are kitchen table issues, as are the issue that you referenced earlier
3:39
about a woman's right to choose the kitchen table issue. It's an economic issue
3:43
All of it for families about their health and their financial well-being, about their freedom
3:49
We fight for democracy here in our country. We felt the Ukrainians are fighting for it there
3:55
We are fighting for freedom here, whether it's freedom for LGBT community, whatever
4:00
the freedom is that people want to read a book, freedom to even read a book for your
4:05
child to read books in school that had been classics and are now burned
4:12
Something tells me that former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is ready to talk book
4:17
bans, women's bodies and health care as much as Republicans will let her
4:23
Speaker Nancy Pelosi, it is an honor and a thrill to have you on the program
4:27
Thanks for making some time tonight. I really appreciate it. My pleasure
4:30
But remember, the longer they take for Ukraine, more people will die, more women would be
4:34
raped, more children will be kidnapped, and it'll be all on them
4:38
We have to get them to move. Thank you for giving some exposure
4:42
Now this comes from the same party that literally banned classics or edited classics because
4:49
they contained racial words that were commonplace in the times when they were written
4:54
And they're going to talk about book banning? They're the book banners. What books are Republicans banning
4:59
Books that talk about things that we don't think kids should know about
5:03
That's a little different. Things that should be taught in the home
5:08
Absolutely ridiculous, Nancy Pelosi. You're a hypocrite. Guys, I want to thank you for joining us
5:14
Again, I'm Carmine Sabia for Explain America on YouTube. Please remember to like, comment, share, and subscribe
5:20
We love you guys. God bless you. Take care, everybody
