Hey ladies and gentlemen, this is Carmine Sabia for Explain America and something terrifying just happened
0:07
as Mitch McConnell simply froze. A lot of theories going around about what could have happened
0:14
We're gonna take a look at the video here and you guys can decide for yourselves
0:18
but he simply froze mid-speech and it was really scary. Before we get started, please make sure you like, comment, share, and subscribe

Those little things really help us out and they help our channel continue to grow
0:30
Mitch McConnell was in the middle of a speech today in front of reporters and as they're talking, he just freezes
0:36
Now if you watch the video carefully as I have, here's what appears to happen
0:41
He just freezes, he stares blankly for a few seconds, then his eyes start to roll in the back of his head
0:47
Now Senator John Barrasso walks up to him and asks him if he wants to go back to his office
0:52
if he wants to say anything else, if he's done talking, and McConnell is lost
0:58
And, you know, it couldn't have been nothing. I don't know what they're gonna say it was
1:03
but it couldn't have been nothing. It looked intense. Now, as you're gonna find out, McConnell comes out a few minutes later, he tells everybody everything's fine
1:13
but I would be very surprised if he does not see a doctor immediately to get a workup
1:17
Let's take a look at this. The story we're following closely, Senate Minority Leader, the Republican Mitch McConnell
1:23
says he is fine after a truly unnerving moment on Capitol Hill, on camera this afternoon
1:29
McConnell stopped speaking for some 30 seconds right in the middle of remarks
1:34
at his regularly scheduled news conference. Here's that moment. —out to finishing the NDA this week
1:46
It's been good bipartisan cooperation. And a string of— —are you good
2:13
—OK, Mitch. Anything else you want to say? I'm sure it's good back here
2:18
Do you want to say anything else to the press? —Go ahead, Jon
2:24
—I'll take a break. Let's go back to— —Go ahead, Jon. —Quite a concerning moment there, seen as Manu Raju is on Capitol Hill
2:32
He was there as it was happening. And, Manu, I understand you spoke to the senator himself afterwards
2:39
What did he say to you? —Yeah, he didn't really get into the details about what happened
2:45
I tried to ask him about that very unnerving moment that alarmed his colleagues
2:49
that sent Senator McConnell away from his weekly press conference. He walked over to his office, which is a short walk from where that press conference was
2:57
and then he later returned and answered questions from reporters like me
3:01
When I asked him about this and whether he could continue to do his job, he indicated he could
3:06
Again, that's the House minority leader and Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell. He's a very important member of Congress, a very important member of the Senate
3:13
maybe the second most important member of the Senate. And what we just witnessed there was absolutely terrifying
3:19
I'm not going to sit here and say anything as far as what it could have been
3:25
I've heard a ton of theories, and so it would be not proper and also irresponsible
3:32
for me to sit here and start talking about what it could have been. I have a few theories from the doctors I've heard on television, but I'm not a doctor myself
3:40
I don't know Mitch McConnell's medical condition. I don't know his medical history other than he did have a concussion not long ago
3:49
And, you know, could it be a residual of that? I don't know
3:52
But other than that, it's not something I can speak to. I would love to hear your comments on what you think it might have been or what you've heard
3:59
I'm sure we're going to find out about this more in the coming days. It does bring to mind, though, the idea that term limits, maybe age limits
4:07
maybe medical examinations need to be done for members of Congress. These are very important positions where they're deciding on things for the rest of us
4:15
We have to make sure they're able to do the job. I wish Mitch McConnell nothing but the best
4:20
He's in our prayers. I pray that he gets better really soon if something is medically wrong
4:27
And stay with us here at Explain America as we get more information for you
4:31
