0:01
sa of for explain America and new
0:04
secretary of defense Pete Heth has hit
0:07
the ground running he's not taking any

0:40
is at his first NATO conference this
0:42
week and he's doing fantastic he's
0:44
laying the law down he told everybody
0:47
what to expect between Russia and
0:50
Ukraine and what the United States
0:51
position is and he laid it out perfectly
0:55
unfortunately you don't get a solution
0:57
here where everybody
0:58
wins and you have to be based in reality
1:03
when you start talking about what you
1:04
want to happen it has to be based in
1:08
reality I think for so long it wasn't
1:10
based in reality and so that's part of
1:13
the problem and now you're talking about
1:16
the European countries NATO we must
1:18
defend NATO we must keep NATO strong I
1:22
don't disagree necessarily I think
1:25
NATO's kind of maybe useful a little bit
1:28
it's kind of a relic of the Cold War if
1:30
you ask me but I understand the reason
1:31
to keep it I guess
1:34
around but these countries are supposed
1:37
to be spending a certain amount of money
1:38
on defense for NATO and they're not
1:42
they're not and they got away with it
1:44
for so long Trump got them to raise it
1:47
Biden said that's okay don't worry about
1:49
it we got this and we become the ones
1:53
that pay for the whole world again we're
1:55
exhausted with it why is it our
1:57
taxpayers have to suffer why is it we
1:59
have to pay for everything well Pete heg
2:02
said today you're not paying enough if
2:03
you want our protection start paying
2:06
more money I want you to listen to this
2:08
video and let me know what you think in
2:10
the comments right and there we see Pete
2:12
hex right now um let's listen at NATO
2:16
with 31 allies also uh with my wife
2:20
Jenny who's been meeting with families
2:21
of US troops both here in Germany and
2:24
we're heading to Poland right after this
2:25
as well that's what this is all about
2:27
for me for president Trump uh and the
2:29
defense
2:30
Department I also want to express a
2:32
special thanks uh to the Secretary
2:34
General Secretary General Ruta uh for
2:37
your boldness for your friendship for
2:39
your leadership and most especially for
2:41
your urgency your urgency of the matter
2:44
at hand which is great to see uh from
2:47
the leader of NATO look uh forward to
2:50
working very closely with him and his
2:53
team and before we're talking about what
2:55
we've done at the ministerial I want to
2:56
reaffirm a few things from this Podium
2:58
first as we see it NATO's strategic
3:03
objectives are to prevent great power
3:06
conflict in Europe deter nuclear and
3:09
non-nuclear
3:11
aggression and defeat threats to treaty
3:14
allies should deterrant
3:18
fail second the US is committed to
3:20
building a stronger more lethal
3:24
NATO however we must ensure that
3:26
European and Canadian commitment to
3:28
article 3 of this treaty is just as
3:32
strong article
3:34
three says that allies and I quote by
3:38
means of continuous and effective
3:40
self-help and mutual Aid will maintain
3:43
and develop their individual and
3:45
Collective
3:46
capacity to resist armed
3:50
attack leaders of our European allies
3:52
should take primary responsibility for
3:56
defense of the continent which means
3:58
security ownership by all allies Guided
4:01
by a clear understanding of strategic
4:03
realities and it's an imperative given
4:06
the Strategic realities that we
4:09
face and that begins with increasing
4:12
defense
4:14
spending 2% is a start as president
4:18
Trump has said but it's not enough nor
4:21
is 3% nor is 4% more like 5% real
4:27
investment real urgency
4:30
we can talk all we want about values
4:33
values are
4:34
important but you can't shoot
4:38
values you can't shoot
4:41
flags and you can't shoot strong
4:44
speeches there is no replacement for
4:47
hard
4:48
power as much as we may not want to like
4:50
the world we live in in some cases
4:53
there's nothing like hard
4:56
power it should be obvious that
4:58
increasing Allied European defense
5:00
spending is critical as the President of
5:03
the United States has said also critical
5:06
is expanding our defense industrial
5:08
based capacity on both sides of the
5:11
Atlantic our dollars our Euros our
5:14
pounds must become real capability
