It really helps a small channel like ours grow. And we really need that in conservative media today because well, as we'll get to in the
0:28
story, you know what social media is doing to conservatives. So Kanye West made a major announcement today along with the inventors or the owners of Parler
0:38
They announced that Kanye West has reached an agreement with them to purchase the platform
0:44
Kanye says that conservative voices are being silenced. They're being marginalized and he wants to see that stop and he wants to use Parler as
0:54
a way to get those voices out more to the public so that the silencing of conservatives
1:00
will finally end and there will be more free speech across the board for everybody
1:05
Now Kanye's move comes on the heels of Elon Musk first agreeing and then not wanting to
1:12
and then agreeing again to purchase Twitter. And Elon who's not a conservative but has voted Republican recently and says he supports
1:21
the Republicans now had the same kind of aggravation that Kanye had and he said, you
1:28
know, the people don't have a platform if they're conservative, that conservative voices
1:33
are getting silenced and it's not fair across the board that people aren't being policed
1:37
the same be if they're conservative or liberal and what their ideas and agendas are now
1:44
I don't know. I mean, tell us in the comments, obviously they what your experiences have been on social media
1:49
Have you seen a difference in how conservatives are treated versus how liberals are treated
1:55
How conservative news is treated versus how liberal news is treated. I know one of the things that Elon Musk talked about was how the Hunter Biden story was squashed
2:05
on the platforms that that said, hey, look, you can publish all you want about, you know
2:11
Hunter Biden, but we're going to squash how many people get to read it. And that was right before the 2020 presidential election
2:19
And I think social media has gotten to a point in our society where it's just so important
2:23
that it's such a big deal that people can't win elections without the use of social media
2:29
So you see, Kanye got kicked off of Instagram. Kanye got kicked off of Twitter for reasons different than just talking about conservative stuff
2:37
And I'm not going to talk about it here. You can Google it. I dislike a lot of what he said, but with the point he's making is, do we have a place
2:47
where we can speak freely, even if it's unpopular? Can we speak freely, even if the people in charge of these social media platforms, which
2:55
have become the de facto public square, the town square, right, in 2022
3:00
Do we really have free speech if we can't speak freely on those platforms
3:04
And I think Kanye is making a very strong point. I think Elon Musk is making a very strong point
3:09
They're certainly making a very strong case for why there needs to be objectivity in controlling
3:16
these platforms. So like I said, it remains to be seen what happens, but this is a big, big step
3:23
Folks, I want to thank you so much for joining us here at Explain America today
3:27
Again, I'm Carmine Sabia. Please remember to like and to share, but also to comment
3:31
I really want to know your experiences with social media, how it has affected you
3:36
Do you see any differences with conservatives and liberals and how they're treated
3:40
All those cool things. I want to know about that. Let me know what's going on. Let us know what's going on so that people can read your experiences
3:47
Also, if you are on YouTube or Rumble, please remember to hit that subscribe button
3:51
It really helps us out. God bless each and every one of you. Take care, everybody
