0:27
of our conservative Christian message to the public, which is kind of hard to do in today's day and age with regular media
0:34
So actor Kirk Cameron, prominent Christian and now an author, he was going around trying to get space to host his book reading
0:45
for a new Christian book that he produced or he wrote. And libraries were shutting him down until recently this weekend
0:53
when he actually found a library that he could use and packed the place
0:59
Around 750 people packed the place according to the library itself. Cameron said there was more
1:06
but the number we know from the official sources is 750 and apparently there was more waiting outside
1:13
That's what different sources are saying. And it just shows that there is a hunger for this type of content in today's society
1:21
But what I find most abhorrent, what I find most disturbing is that many of the libraries that said no to Cameron
1:31
that would not have him host his book reading at their library
1:35
And again, this is a faith-based Christian book. There is nothing negative in the book
1:40
There's nothing that is anti anybody in the book. It's just pro-Christian messaging
1:45
You don't have to go to the reading, but if you do, you know, then you know what it's about
1:50
A lot of these libraries, they wouldn't have his book in there
1:55
because they said it was divisive. But many of the same libraries host drag queen story hour
2:03
Now, when you think about that, because Christianity to them is divisive
2:07
but drag queen story hour with drag queens reading to your young children
2:14
that's just fine by these library standards. In fact, one library actually said no to Cameron flat out
2:21
just no and said we will not have that kind of content in our library
2:26
We are a quote queer-friendly library and safe space or whatever woke nonsense 2022-2023 language they were using
2:38
But it was a safe space. Well, nobody was telling queer people
2:42
I guess is the appropriate word because that's what they used, that they couldn't go to the book reading
2:46
or maybe they just didn't have to go to the library that day to read that particular
2:49
What happens to the Christians? Are you a safe space for Christians who don't want to go to drag time story hour
2:54
who don't want that in their public library? These are government-funded institutions
2:58
These are not private institutions. So the lunacy of what we're dealing with in society today
3:04
where drag queen story hour is okay, but a Christian book reading that's controversial
3:10
That's a problem with this country. That's a problem with this entire world
3:14
And it's something that we have to get straight. So good on Kirk Cameron good on him good on his sister
3:19
Candace Cameron beret for the stands that they have taken they can make a lot more money
3:23
if they were willing to do whatever Hollywood wanted them to do, but they're not they stand for principles
3:28
and you have to respect that everybody. Thank you for joining us here at explain America today
