0:07
about the Brittany Griner trade. We're going to hit that right now. But first, before we get started, as always and ever, please remember to like

0:35
So please give us a look and come chat with us. So here's the thing with the Brittany Griner trade
0:42
It sets a really bad precedent, a really bad precedent for the United States
0:49
It hurts us in terms of Americans going abroad because now people
0:54
believe we're taking American hostage. Get a, get a dangerous criminal back, right
0:58
You don't negotiate with a terrorist regime, which in this case, Russia kind
1:05
of was acting like with, with Brittany Griner, and we gave up a very, very
1:09
dangerous man, so dangerous that a Democrat Senator, New Jersey Senator, Bob Menendez actually sounded the alarm
1:17
And he said, we must stop inviting rogue regimes to use Americans
1:21
overseas as bargaining chips. You know, and he talked about how people like Victor Bout, the so-called
1:27
merchant of death, you know, being free actually makes us less safe
1:32
And he said, this is really bad for hostage taking overseas because it sends that message
1:37
And this is a Democrat Senator, a staunch Biden supporter. And that's not all
1:43
Menendez actually called the decision by the white house to trade Victor Bout
1:48
for WNBA star, Brittany Griner, a deeply disturbing decision. Those are his words
1:54
He called it deeply disturbing. He said, what we have to do is try to get Americans to stop traveling to
2:00
countries that have regimes that are going to use them as bargaining chips
2:05
There was even defense official spokespeople who said, the world is a more dangerous place today with this guy on the loose
2:12
This is a guy who is selling serious weaponry to fund both sides of wars
2:17
in some cases, just to make money. And, you know, he's definitely going to, you know, and you know, he's
2:23
definitely a guy who sold weapons to our enemies and there's no reason to
2:27
believe he won't do that again. There's no reason to believe he's going to just go back to Russia and be, you
2:33
know, knitting and selling yarn in a, in a local shop, there's no reason to
2:38
believe that there's every reason to believe that he's going to go back to
2:42
being the criminal mastermind that he is. And the rabbit hole actually goes deeper than I can even get into here about
2:49
things that happen with people, with companies that are related to a boot
2:53
during the Iraq war and, and things of that nature that, you know, in, in terms
2:58
of, of what we can actually say here, we can't really talk about, but you're
3:03
going to, you're going to find out about it. And as soon as we're allowed to talk about it, we will, because it's important
3:08
Um, this is a very, very dangerous man. And you know, the white house originally NBC news said that the white house had a
3:15
choice between getting grinder back or Marine Paul Whelan. And they went with grinder
3:21
They corrected the story later to say they only had the choice of grinder, which
3:25
is the official white house line. What is the truth? We don't know
3:29
We don't know. Um, did they have a choice? Was it grinder or nothing
3:35
It might've been because they're very different cases. Whereas Whelan's charged with espionage, grinder was just charged
3:40
with simple marijuana possession. So there is a gigantic difference in the cases
3:45
But like I said, there's, there's a lot. They don't want you to know about this merchant of death
3:49
He's a very dangerous man. And we traded him for a basketball player. Not that I'm not happy
3:53
She's home. Cause I am, I think that, I think that she was too severely punished, which is
3:58
something, you know, some of you guys might disagree with, but for a little bit of marijuana, I think it was such a severe punishment
4:05
And even though she's certainly not on our side of the political aisle and doesn't
4:10
stand for the national anthem and you know, all these things that we dislike
4:13
about her at the end of the day, an American is being held for what I think
4:18
was a ridiculous reason to be overcharged for, and at the end of the day, you have
4:23
to think of it that way, in my opinion, but trading the merchant of death for her
4:29
That's a heck of a price to pay. Hey folks. Thank you for joining us here at explain America today
4:33
