Chaos In The House - McCarthy Makes Massive Announcement As Speaker Contest Rages

And wow, there is chaos in the House of Representatives right now

Newsmax filed a report this morning that said Steve Scalise does not have the number of votes necessary

to get to 217 and become the next Speaker of the House

Because of that, he's dropping out of the race and it looks like Jim Jordan will become the next Speaker

except two more people are going to get involved in the race and now it's going to get crazy

That was the first story, but that's not the end of the story. Let's take a look at that clip

Live from Capitol Hill, Logan, good morning. Hi Ben Chong, good morning

And sources are telling Newsmax that Steve Scalise will not be able to garner the 217 votes

needed to become Speaker of the House. And those sources also tell us that Scalise is expected to drop out of the race that could come as soon as today

Now, if that does happen, we're hearing that Jim Jordan could jump back into the race

Remember that he only had 99 votes from the Republican conference behind closed doors yesterday

compared to a greater total for Steve Scalise. But again, if Scalise drops out, it looks like Jordan will re-enter the race

We're also hearing that there's a possibility of Tom Emmer, who's currently the majority whip

to enter the running to become Speaker of the House. And also Kevin Hearn, he is a Republican congressman from Oklahoma

who leads the largest Republican caucus here on Capitol Hill. So again, Steve Scalise likely does not have those 217 votes

Thomas Massey, a Republican from Kentucky, says at least 20 Republicans will not be voting for Steve Scalise

whether they don't want him to be leader because of political differences

or whether they're concerned about him taking on the most challenging role in the House of Representatives

as somebody who's currently battling blood cancer. So again, that is what we're hearing from sources on Capitol Hill

And there is a chance Scalise will drop out of the race, and we'll see a shakeup later today

Republicans are set to meet behind closed doors again at 12.15 Eastern Time

Back to you. Wow, and again, the topic of the motion to vacate again on the table as well

does that stay in place at a time like this? Right after this story came out, there was another report that said Jim Jordan can't get to 217

he's dropping out of the race, and he's endorsing Scalise. What is going on, Republicans

You look ridiculous. You look absolutely ridiculous. At the same time, McCarthy responded a couple days ago to reports that he was going to resign from Congress completely

He said, no, that's not true. In fact, I'm running for re-election

Now, he said, look, if the Republicans can't find somebody, I'm willing to be Speaker again

Now he's in the mix. By the time you see this video, we may have a Speaker of the House. I don't know

But I know Republicans look ridiculous right now. Absolutely atrocious and horrible

And this has to stop. There's a war going on with Israel and Hamas

Pick a Speaker, get moving, get it over with, and get it done

You are writing the Democrats campaign ads for them for 2024. You look dysfunctional, and you look like chaos

This has to stop. Pick a Speaker and move on. Not everybody can get what they want
