0:33
out guys Trump has been racking up the
0:36
legal victories since before the
0:38
election and he's been racking up the
0:40
victories since the election you got the
0:43
election itself you got the classified
0:45
documents case you've got the case in
0:48
Manhattan that was put on ice and
0:50
basically ended you got the case in
0:52
Georgia ended kaput you got the January
0:56
6 case finished you got the election
0:59
itself Victory you've
1:01
got Mexico and Canada bending the knee
1:04
to Trump on tariffs giving him what he
1:06
wants Victory after
1:09
Victory but one victory that he appears
1:12
to a verge of getting is very important
1:14
it's being run by the
1:16
FCC who took CBS News to court to get
1:19
the original interview they had with
1:21
kamla Harris because well it looks like
1:25
they edited it to make her look
1:27
competent and they got caught they got
1:30
caught because they were Silly they
1:31
aired two different versions of her
1:33
answer on two different places so they
1:36
got caught they caught
1:37
themselves now this kind of thing can
1:39
get your license revoked you could not
1:41
be able to run shows where CBS could end
1:44
because of this I don't think it'll get
1:46
that far but I think you're going to see
1:48
a massive punishment levied if these
1:50
accusations are
1:51
true guys the new head of the FCC is
1:55
looking into it because the people who
1:57
provide us our news they can manipulate
1:59
that news too that's why you guys come
2:00
here cuz you get a straight shot of the
2:02
news make of it what you will sometimes
2:04
we disagree right but you know you're
2:06
getting the truth yeah you're going to
2:09
get it with the skewed view a
2:10
conservative view but you're going to
2:12
get the truth I'm not going to change
2:14
somebody's quotes CBS not so much I want
2:18
you to watch this video and let me know
2:19
what you think in the comments it's hard
2:22
to believe it's been just two weeks
2:23
since an auration we've been hard at
2:24
work at the FCC on President Trump's
2:27
executive orders including Bringing Down
2:28
the cost of living but this particular
2:30
one you know look I don't usually get
2:32
out there talking about FCC
2:33
investigations but there was some leaks
2:35
involving this on Friday and over the
2:36
weekend so I wanted to be clear about it
2:39
we have sought the unedited copy of the
2:42
transcript in the video from this
2:44
interview and it's part of an FCC
2:46
investigation there was a complaint
2:47
filed under something called the news
2:49
Distortion policy and that's a
2:51
50-year-old policy at the FCC that
2:53
applies to broadcasters so not cable
2:56
like Fox News and the policy says you
2:58
can't you know swap anwers out to make
3:00
it look like somebody said something
3:02
entirely different the classic case is
3:03
if someone says yes to an answer and you
3:05
splice in a no answer here it's usually
3:09
very difficult to make out news
3:11
Distortion complaints you don't want the
3:12
FCC leaning in too heavily on this but
3:15
here as you pointed out CBS played the
3:18
same question on two different programs
3:20
and clearly the words of the answers
3:22
were very different and so what we've
3:24
done is we're seeking out the transcript
3:26
it's due today and I expect CBS to
3:28
provide it by the end of the day to see
3:31
what in fact was said as part of our own
3:33
news Distortion investigation and then
3:36
what could be the consequence from
3:38
that well look there we the full Suite
3:40
of FCC options that are on the table
3:42
that apply to any broadcast licy we
3:45
obviously haven't made any decisions but
3:46
there's no way that the FCC can
3:48
adjudicate this claim without getting a
3:50
copy of the transcript you know at the
3:52
end of the Biden Administration my
3:53
predecessor sarily dismissed this
3:55
complaint but I'm not sure how you can
3:57
possibly do that without seeing the
4:00
actual video to see what was the real
4:01
answer was it edited was it you know
4:03
edited for clarity and length which
4:05
would be fine or are there other reasons
4:07
why the editing took place so we're
4:08
going to take a look at that and we're
4:10
open-minded as to potential consequences
4:12
will you will that P will that
4:15
transcript become public so that all of
4:17
us can read it or because of the
4:18
investigation do you hold on to it you
4:20
know I haven't made a final decision on
4:22
that but I do think that transparency
4:23
here is incredibly important I do think
4:26
the American public ultimately uh
4:27
deserve to see this for themselves and
4:29
what's interesting interesting as CBS
4:30
releases other transcripts for instance
4:32
uh the Face the Nation interview
4:34
recently with vice president Vance they
4:36
released the full unedited transcript
4:38
there but for some reason they haven't
4:40
done that here and uh we'll soon see why
4:42
the FCC again their response of the
4:43
video is due today and I expect them to
4:46
comply Brandon what just one other topic
4:48
and a quick question you have sent a
4:49
letter to NPR and PBS saying that you're
4:51
concerned that the broadcast could be
4:53
violating federal law by airing
4:56
commercials what is happening here and
4:59
what's the next step
5:00
you know NPR and PBS they're different
5:03
than regular broadcasters every
5:04
broadcaster has a public interest
5:05
obligation and for years I think the FCC
5:08
has been completely absent on enforcing
5:09
the public interest obligation and one
5:11
of the things that I've said from the
5:12
get-go is I'm going to hold broadcasters
5:14
accountable to operating in the public
5:16
interest with these two in particular
5:18
they get taxpayer funding and they're
5:20
not allowed to run commercials because
5:22
of that they're non-commercial entities
5:23
under their FCC license and there's some
5:25
potential evidence that they've been
5:27
running commercials so we're going to
5:28
take a look at that and then where the
5:29
investigation goes from there we'll just
5:31
be led by the facts it could expand
5:32
Beyond just that narrow issue Brendan
5:35
Carr FCC chairman thank you so much for
5:37
being with us today thanks r
