0:30
helps us out Pete heg set this waiting
0:32
for a couple of key Republicans right
0:35
and one more key than the rest of them
0:38
in fact this Republican holds the power
0:41
really holds the key to Pete heg
0:44
becoming Secretary of Defense or not
0:46
becoming Secretary of Defense now I
0:49
thought Mr heg did a fantastic job in
0:52
the Senate hearings SWAT it down
0:54
Democrats really made them look
0:56
ridiculous with their lines of
0:58
questioning I laugh
1:00
at the idea these people who have had
1:02
numerous Affairs who we know have been
1:05
drunk on several occasions who have had
1:08
all kinds of allegations of assault and
1:10
whatnot levied against them that these
1:13
people stand there in judgment and look
1:15
at Pete heg or anybody else and talk
1:18
about their moral
1:19
character this is a body the US Senate
1:23
that has had some really really wicked
1:26
people in it I'm not going to get into
1:29
stories you guys know most of them the
1:32
point is and I'm talking about
1:34
historically some evil people and some
1:36
great people a lot of great people don't
1:39
get me wrong but let's not pretend that
1:43
Pete Heth is some monster cuz he's not
1:47
he's a man a human a flawed human being
1:49
a sinner like the rest of us pray that
1:52
he saved through our Lord and Savior
1:53
Jesus Christ as I pray for all of us
1:56
well he got the news he was waiting for
2:00
the one Senator he really needed Joanie
2:03
Ernst she's going to vote for him I want
2:06
you to watch their Exchange in the
2:07
Senate and then I want you to watch her
2:09
announcement after that about how she's
2:12
going to vote and then let me know what
2:13
you think in the comments Senator first
2:17
of all thank you for your service as we
2:19
discussed extensively as well my
2:21
privilege and my answer is yes exactly
2:24
the way that you caveat it yes women
2:26
will have access to ground combat roles
2:29
combat rows
2:30
given the standards remain high and
2:33
we'll have a review to ensure the
2:36
standards have not been eroded uh in any
2:38
one of these cases that'll be part of
2:40
one of the first things we do at the
2:42
Pentagon is reviewing that in a gender
2:44
neutral way the standards ensuring
2:47
Readiness uh and meritocracy is front
2:49
and center but absolutely it would be
2:51
the privilege of a lifetime uh to if
2:54
confirmed to be the secretary of defense
2:56
for all men and women in uniform who
2:59
fight so heroic they have so many other
3:01
options they decide to put their right
3:03
hand up uh for our country and it would
3:06
be an honor to have a chance to lead
3:07
them thank you and just very so to have
3:09
someone that is willing to cut through
3:15
that and get back to where we're
3:17
focusing on Readiness for our men and
3:20
women because you know Simon that's an
3:23
important part for me is that we
3:25
recognize that women do have an
3:27
important role in our military
3:31
um and so he was ad adequately able to
3:33
answer all of my questions he pointed
3:36
out the woke issues at the
3:39
Pentagon and I think we're at a point
3:41
where now we can start moving forward uh
3:44
people know where he stands on these
3:46
issues yep so I felt it was a good
3:49
hearing I thought it was a good hearing
3:51
for him does he have your
3:52
vote um I am breaking news Simon I
3:56
figured you would ask this um so yes I
4:00
will be supporting president Trump's
4:02
pick for Secretary of Defense Pete Heth
