Guys, Kamala Harris pressured Trump into agreeing to the ABC debate that he had agreed to with
0:45
Joe Biden. Now, her argument was that it did not matter that the candidates changed
0:52
He still agreed to that debate. She's the Democrat nominee. The debate should still take place
0:57
Trump called her bluff after some hemming and hawing, after some hedging
1:01
He did agree to the debate. Then Kamala Harris turns around and says, well, you know, we should change the rules
1:08
because it's not the same candidate. Hold on. First, you have to stay with the debate you agreed to with somebody else because it doesn't
1:17
matter that the candidate changed. Then we should change the rules because it's a different candidate
1:24
And the reason she wants to change the rules, in my opinion, and the opinion of many, is
1:28
she wants open mics because she wants Trump to interrupt her at least once so she can
1:33
say I'm speaking and then slap that on a t-shirt and use that for fundraising
1:40
Everybody knows the play. At this point, it probably wouldn't even work if she did it because everybody knows the play
1:47
That being said, ABC has released the rules and they gave Trump exactly what he wanted
1:52
The rules that were agreed to originally with President Joe Biden. The microphones will be muted
1:59
They will be standing. There will be no note cards allowed. Kamala Harris, of course, at a distinct disadvantage when that's the case
2:09
She needs those note cards. Have you ever tried to listen to a Kamala Harris speech and figure it out as you go along
2:18
Guys, I want you to listen to this report on it and let me know who you think it favors
2:23
Let me know what you think about the whole thing in the comments. I want to bring in and see this Priscilla Alvarez
2:28
She's joining us right now. Priscilla, why has the vice president Harris decided to do her debate prep in Pennsylvania
2:35
Well, well, sources tell me that this is a strategic play because it allows the vice
2:39
president to prepare and what is a critical battleground state. And over the course of the next few days, also make stops across the community
2:47
Now you see Tim Walz there. He is already also campaigning in Erie, Pennsylvania
2:51
This is a state that is top of mind for this ticket
2:55
So in addition to her being there for her prep, he is there as well
2:59
Now, of course, this approach is one that resembles that of former President Barack
3:03
Obama, who also took his debate camp outside of Washington. And of course, it's not the first time that the vice president is preparing
3:11
Over the past month, she has put together a small team of advisers who have been preparing
3:16
her already for this upcoming presidential debate, including with mock debate sessions
3:21
and a stand in for former President Donald Trump. And when I talk to sources about what this prep looks like, they tell me that she is
3:28
keenly aware of the types of strategies that the former president might employ and preparing
3:34
for those moments. But her allies also tell me that they want her to not get too roped into that and to
3:40
also make sure that she is articulating a vision for the country and using it as an
3:45
opportunity to present a stark contrast with her Republican rival. Now, we do also know that the debate rules have been said
3:53
Of course, this was the debate over the debates. And that's going to include that the microphones are going to be turned off as each candidate
3:58
is speaking, though there will be opportunity that potentially turned on for certain exchanges
4:03
Of course, that will also factor into her preparation. Wolf. They've worked out the rules, apparently
4:08
All right, Priscilla. Thank you very much. Priscilla Alvarez reporting. I want to bring in our political experts right now
4:13
And Megan Hayes, let me start. Thank you
