out Alexandria kazio
0:35
Cortez is very popular with her
0:38
constituency we know that
0:40
AOC you know Demands a a level of fandom
0:46
especially
0:47
online she's kind of a Mythic figure but
0:50
in the real world that doesn't really
0:52
translate so much and it was proven this
0:55
week when she was defeated for a coveted
0:58
seat on a coveted house committee by
1:02
Jerry Connelly another representative
1:04
who's been there a long time has played
1:05
the political game and was championed by
1:09
Speaker or former speaker Nancy Pelosi
1:12
who's now of course recovering from hip
1:14
surgery but even while she was
1:15
recovering from hip surgery she was able
1:18
to sink the
1:19
candidacy of AIO Cortez and look maybe
1:24
this is the problem with the Democrat
1:26
Party maybe the fact that they won't let
1:28
the Young Voices be heard heard is why
1:31
they keep being defeated why they lost
1:33
the White House the Senate the house
1:36
people are tired of these old people
1:38
calling all the shots I want you to
1:41
watch this video and let me know what
1:42
you think in the
1:43
comments Chad perram explains tonight
1:46
live from Capitol Hill good evening Chad
1:48
Brett good evening a blow to the youth
1:51
movement in the Democratic party a panel
1:53
of Democrats tonight recommended Jerry
1:55
Connelly of Virginia over Alexandria
1:58
Ocasio Cortez to be the top Democrat on
2:01
the oversight committee now it was a
2:03
generational choice for Democrats youth
2:06
versus experience an icon of the
2:09
Progressive Movement the 35-year-old AOC
2:12
taking on Decades of experience in the
2:14
74y old Jerry Connelly tonight the Old
2:18
Guard one former presidential candidate
2:20
Dean Phillips says the party blocks
2:22
youth the Minnesota Democrat challenge
2:25
President Biden over his
2:28
age it is time to Elevate the best and
2:31
brightest we have literally kept them
2:33
from ascending to leadership positions
2:35
which means they go elsewhere Democrats
2:38
were concerned that an AOC win meant the
2:40
party could Veer left Ohio's Marcy
2:43
captor is the longest tenured woman in
2:45
House history she never chaired a
2:47
committee but she
2:49
tried the people that get elected in my
2:53
party tend to come from the coasts
2:55
captor says former house Speaker Nancy
2:57
Pelosi partly blocked her and and Pelosi
3:00
worked against aoc's bid now Republicans
3:03
did not vote but oversight committee
3:05
chairman James comr preferred Osio
3:09
Cortez I hope they put her on there
3:11
because she symbolizes what the
3:13
Democrats stand for uh she's a socialist
3:16
uh she's the architect of the green New
3:18
Deal in the house the vote is finalized
3:21
tomorrow but one newcomer did Prevail
3:24
Angie Craig of Minnesota she beat David
3:27
Scott and Jim Costa to become the
3:29
ranking Democrat on agriculture BR hey
3:32
Chad where do we stand with the bill to
3:33
try to avoid a government shutdown this
3:35
weekend
