0:01

0:04
court justice just made a massive
0:07
gamechanging announcement before we get

0:27
absolutely free it really helps us out
0:32
guys there's been a lot of clamoring
0:34
first it was the Democrats saying you
0:36
know Justice Sonia soore she has to
0:38
retire right now because we got to get
0:40
Biden to pick somebody and have the
0:42
Senate rush them through which is not
0:43
going to happen there's just not enough
0:45
time to pick somebody have them V it go
0:48
through the Senate process it's not
0:49
going to happen and Sonia Sor said no
0:51
she's not doing
0:52
it now there's some conservatives on the
0:54
hot seat Justice Clarence Thomas Justice
0:57
Samuel Leo and people are saying they
0:59
should is higher we haven't heard from
1:01
Justice Thomas yet but from people close
1:03
to Samuel Alo he's not going anywhere
1:07
now could this change over the next four
1:09
years it could I think it should I think
1:12
it's very tough to run the risk of your
1:15
legacy being ruined because you got
1:18
replaced by a Democrat you could have a
1:20
long stretch you could have 12 years of
1:23
Democrats now you're in your 70s and you
1:24
got to stay on until you're in your
1:26
90s because you don't want a Democrat to
1:28
replace you and the same token it's the
1:30
same thing Democrats are afraid of you
1:32
could have a 12 16e run of Republican
1:34
presidents what do you do you going to
1:37
have nine members of the Supreme Court
1:38
all be Republican could happen and so I
1:42
understand why everybody's concerned but
1:43
Alo says right now he's not going
1:46
anywhere I do want you to hear them make
1:48
the case here though and let me know
1:49
what you think in the comments exactly
1:52
right even if you have a qualified
1:54
nominee this is something that takes
1:55
months and it's unlikely they'd be able
1:57
to get someone confirmed which is why
1:59
ources telling our colleague John fritzy
2:01
that she is not stepping aside but we're
2:04
also seeing these questions sort to
2:06
percolate on the other side uh for the
2:08
conservatives uh some Trump allies
2:10
raising questions about whether Justice
2:11
is Thomas or Leo should step aside and
2:14
let Trump a president-elect trump when
2:16
he's in office appoint younger
2:18
successors to solidify his conservative
2:20
super majority now it's interesting
2:23
Leonard Leo who is widely credited uh as
2:25
being the architect of Trump's very
2:27
successful strategy to create that super
2:29
majority and stack the courts with
2:31
conservative justices he entered the
2:33
chat and he pushed back on these calls
2:35
uh saying quote no one other than
2:37
justices Thomas and Alo knows when or if
2:39
they will retire and talking about them
2:41
like meat that has reached its
2:43
expiration date is unwise uninformed and
2:46
frankly just crass notable that he
2:49
weighed in here we have to remember
2:51
these justices they have no bosses they
2:54
don't tend to take kindly to calls for
2:56
them to step down the ghost of Ruth
2:58
Bader Ginsburg Looms large here and
3:01
remember with Justice Brer there were
3:02
calls for him to step down in Biden's
3:04
first year and he took two years before
3:06
he stepped aside so it could be a little
3:08
bit of three-dimensional chess here not
3:09
wanting to pressure these justices
3:11
because of course the goal is to retain
3:13
that super majority for as long as
3:15
possible but in talking to sources uh
3:17
it's clear that Leo really wants to draw
3:19
contrast with Democratic groups that
3:21
really did try to pressure Brier to step
3:23
down saying look we don't do that but we
3:25
know there's always a strategy when it
3:28
comes to the court so it'll be
3:29
interesting to see if these calls get
3:30
louder uh As Trump gets closer to
3:32
inauguration day I feel like 70 is young
3:35
but Everything's Relative in Washington
3:36
especially for a Supreme Court Justice
3:39
my goodness yeah certainly um and uh who
3:42
is
