Hey ladies and gentlemen, this is Carmine Sabia for Explain America and Senate Majority Leader
0:05
New York Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer has just set off a firestorm in the nation's capital
0:12
after demanding new elections. Before we get started, please make sure you like
0:17
comment, share and subscribe. Those little things really help us out and they help our channel
0:23
continue to grow. Now, Schumer of course did not call for new elections in the United States
0:29
but he did make a stunning statement today in the Senate where he said we demanded, demanded
0:37
new elections in Israel to get rid of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and went so far
0:43
as to threaten Netanyahu that we would have to re-evaluate and use our leverage and apply
0:50
pressure to Israel if they didn't do as he's demanding. These are the same people, ladies
0:56
and gentlemen, that have said we will not have any foreign interference in our elections. We
1:01
will not have Russia interfering in our elections. You're literally interfering in another country's
1:06
election right now by demanding they have one that's unscheduled because you, some guy from
1:11
New York, say so. You demand it. Who are you? You're not an Israeli citizen, are you? You don't
1:19
vote in Israel's elections, do you? And even if you did, that wouldn't give you the right to demand
1:25
new elections in some other country. Absolute hypocrisy. Thy name is Democrats. This is
1:32
ridiculous and he's rightly being roasted for it. I want you to watch the speech and then please tell
1:37
me what you think when you like, comment, share, and subscribe. I'm Carmine Sabia for Explain

America. We love you guys. God bless you. Take care, everybody. That will finally make meaningful
1:49
Palestinian statehood a reality. For our part, the United States, the world's superpower
1:57
must work together with our allies to bring our immense diplomatic and financial power to bear
2:02
on this situation. We can be a partner to a grand bargain in the Middle East by deepening our
2:09
relationship with the Saudis and other Arab nations to induce them to make a deal, but only
2:14
if they actively guide Palestinians to a more peaceful future. On the Israeli side, the U.S
2:22
government should demand that Israel conduct itself with a future two-state solution in mind
2:28
We should not be forced into a position of unequivocally supporting the actions of an
2:34
Israeli government that include bigots who reject the idea of a Palestinian state
2:40
Israel is a democracy. Five months into this conflict, it is clear that Israelis need to take
2:49
stock of the situation and ask, must we change course? At this critical juncture, I believe a
2:58
new election is the only way to allow for a healthy and open decision-making process about
3:05
the future of Israel at a time when so many Israelis have lost their confidence in the vision
3:12
and direction of their government. I also believe a majority of the Israeli public will recognize
3:19
the need for change, and I believe that holding a new election once the war starts to wind down
3:26
would give Israelis an opportunity to express their vision for the post-war future
3:32
Of course, the United States cannot dictate the outcome of an election, nor should we try
3:39
That is for the Israeli public to decide, a public that I believe understands better than anybody
3:47
that Israel cannot hope to succeed as a pariah opposed by the rest of the world
3:55
As a democracy, Israel has the right to choose its own leaders
3:59
and we should let the chips fall where they may, but the important thing is that Israelis are given
4:05
a choice. There needs to be a fresh debate about the future of Israel after October 7th
4:12
In my opinion, that is best accomplished by holding an election. Now, if Prime Minister Netanyahu's current coalition remains in power after the war begins
4:28
and continues to pursue dangerous and inflammatory policies that test existing U.S. standards for
4:34
assistance, then the United States will have no choice but to play a more active role in shaping
4:41
Israeli policy by using our leverage to change the present course. The United States' bond with Israel is unbreakable, but if it is not
