Hey ladies and gentlemen, this is Carmine Sabia for Explain America and Joe Biden, do as I say, not as I do
0:08
What's good for me is not good for you. Before we get started, please make sure you like, comment, share and subscribe
0:16
Those little things really help us out and they help our channel continue to grow
0:20
Many of you or your kids or your grandkids use an app called TikTok
0:26
And TikTok has short videos that are designed really to reach a younger audience
0:34
And they're just quick hits, maybe one minute, maybe less than that
0:38
And some politicians use it, some don't. But Joe Biden has weighed banning this app because it is owned by the Chinese
0:48
And he's afraid of the Chinese Communist government's involvement in it. All valid concerns. I think it should be banned
0:54
Personally, you may disagree, but I think it should be banned. But he has banned it from government officials having it on their phones
1:02
So government officials are not allowed to have it on their phones. But Joe Biden's campaign, the one that is so desperate to attract young voters
1:11
so desperate to defeat Donald Trump that it'll do anything, anything for victory in 2024
1:19
his campaign joined TikTok, the same app he's banned on government cell phones
1:24
And Fox News reporter Jacque Heinrich, she gave it to John Kirby about this and demanded answers
1:32
Guess what? She didn't really get them. I want you to watch this and then I want you to comment, like, comment, share and subscribe, I should say
1:40
I'm Carmine Sabia for Explain America. We love you guys. God bless you. Take care, everybody
1:46
What is this message? We have actually, I think, put something out on social media about the Lunar New Year
1:52
And of course, we're wishing everybody who observes the Lunar New Year a happy one and a prosperous one
1:57
Even the rabbits. Admiral, I wanted to clarify the position on TikTok
2:04
So the administration still has concerns, security concerns about TikTok, even though the campaign has now joined it
2:13
Again, I cannot speak, nor will I speak for the campaign. I can't do that or their decisions
2:19
Nothing's changed about the national security concerns from the NSC's perspective about the use of TikTok on government devices
2:28
That policy is still in place. But surely there must have been some conversation between the White House here and the campaign
2:33
on whether it was appropriate for the campaign to use it. I can't speak to that
2:38
Jackie, last one. Thank you, Karine. John, just following up on this TikTok stuff, is the CFIUS review still happening
2:46
I'd have to refer you to CFIUS. I'm not in a position to confirm one way or another what they're looking at
2:53
So is the administration still weighing a ban on TikTok? Again, I have nothing for you on that, Jackie
2:59
I mean, I'd have to refer you to CFIUS. All I can speak to credibly, which I have today, is that from an NSC perspective
3:06
there are still national security concerns about the use of TikTok on government devices
3:10
and there's been no change to our policy not to allow that. Can you help me understand, though, like why there wouldn't be any communication between CFIUS
3:18
and the administration broadly, I mean, with the National Security Council? I didn't say there wasn't
3:23
I just said I'm not able to speak to issues regarding CFIUS
3:27
You'd have to talk to them. It's an independent body and it's not something – I can't speak for them
3:31
I think we're all just trying to square why the President would use this platform
3:35
that his administration is weighing a national ban on because of national security concerns
3:40
Again, I'm not going to speak to any hypothetical ban. I can only tell you that it's not allowed on government devices
3:46
That policy remains the case, and I just can't speak for the campaign or their decisions
3:50
I apologize. Thank you so much, Adam. All right
