Why your Instagram account is auto-following Donald Trump

Instagram and Facebook users were surprised to see their accounts automatically following President Donald Trump and Vice President JC Vance after Monday’s inauguration. “Facebook made my profile auto-follow Trump,” someone posted on Reddit. Another replied ‘full dictatorship incoming’. People opened their social media apps to find new posts from both Vance and Trump’s account. This included an Instagram post that read: ‘promises made, promises kept’, across a picture of the new president. US celebrities took to Instagram to share their confusion.
