Will Jeremy Hunt’s Tax Cuts Save You Any Money?

The Chancellor Jeremy Hunt launched a bigger tax-cutting package than many had expected today

with a headline grabbing cut in national insurance and 110 measures designed to boost business investment across the country

Hunt's autumn statement delivered what he called the largest business tax cut in modern British history

but it was changes to national insurance that have grabbed the attention. The cut set to come in from 6th to January will impact some 27 million workers

and bring down the current rate from 12% to 10%, delivering savings of around £450 to the average worker annually

in the House of Commerce that a hump pledge people will begin to see the benefit in their

pay slip from the beginning of next year. And there was plenty of red meat for businesses too

with a permanent extension of full expensing which allows companies to claim back up for the

cost of investment in areas like manufacturing, equipment and infrastructure. That came alongside

a wider shake-up of the ICER regime, more generous research and development tax breaks

and further plans of pension reform to try and stimulate a wave of investment into the country's start-ups
