Why UK house prices are falling, even though housing still feels unaffordable
House prices were expected to rise in August, but they fell instead. It’s the fourth time this has happened in the last six months, and a sign that the property market is under real pressure. The average price of a house in the UK fell to £271,079, down 0.1 per cent from the month before. This might not sound like a lot, but market watchers had expected a 0.2 per cent growth.
