5:04
hello everybody welcome to Friday Friday at last here and I don't even know what
5:11
day it is of our stay at home order but here we are and we're all together and it's good to see so many of you on this
5:18
Friday evening so many things you could be doing Friday night even holed up in your homes but you're
5:24
here and this is a good place to be because it is a time for us to come together to kind of check in see how
5:29
we're doing as we have been doing and to pray together and to certainly offer the
5:35
official prayer of the church right the the office of complan night prayer for those of you might be just joining us
5:41
for the first time complan is the last office of the day before we head off to
5:47
bed and it's kind of crafted that way in the monastic tradition and it prays the
5:53
Psalms of the church as as we do and presently the Liturgy of the hours over the course of four weeks if you pray all
6:00
the offices you get in just about all 150 Psalms and so complan is just one of
6:05
those Offices of the liturgy it's called the Liturgy of the hours or the Divine Office and so we pray that together
6:11
Monday through Friday here right here at 9 o'clock p.m. in central time and for
6:18
those of you who are wondering who might be new I'm certainly on Fridays forgot to do it last week we had an eagle-eyed
6:24
prayer warrior who said hey where's the green and that's what he was talking about not that it was ordinary time all
6:29
of a sudden but that I wasn't wearing my green like I normally do on Fridays and when we first started this way back when
6:36
the first week I thought that I would represent the order of Saint Lazarus of
6:42
which I'm a member I'm assistant chaplain in the order of Saint Lazarus and that is an order that
6:48
is that is given over to to helping those who are in need of health care and
6:54
of Prayer in a very real way and so the order of st. Lazarus is one of the ancient chivalric orders that took care
7:02
of lepers outside the city of Jerusalem and then has done so throughout the succeeding century since the Year ten
7:09
hundred ninety-two I think and so if you want to find out a little bit more about him I put a link there in the
7:15
chatroom it's st - lazarus us is is the Order of Saint Lazarus the United States
7:22
the grand Priory of America and so because I'm one of the the assistant chaplains this is an opportunity on
7:29
Fridays that I take to pray for all the members of the Order of Saint Lazarus around the world and most specifically
7:34
those who are ministering to the sick especially those with with kovat now so
7:40
I just give you a little hint of why I'm wearing something slightly different this is called a Mazetti for clergy it's
7:45
called a Mazetti and it is it's it's piped in green and it has the Green Cross of Saint Lazarus on the side just
7:52
to show that the clergyman who's wearing it is a member of that order and so there you go that's a that's the order
7:59
of st. Lazarus as you know we have been we have been going through different
8:05
readings on on the Blessed Mother it being the month of May and I thought maybe we'd change books and there's this
8:12
is a fantastic little book now by st. John Henry Cardinal Newman I think when
8:19
I got this book he was a bless it and it is just a list of other a list a collection of his meditations and
8:25
devotions of course as you know blessed or should say st. John Henry Cardinal
8:31
Newman takes me a second now to put it all together in the right order he was a convert from Anglicanism and and
8:37
certainly one of the very prolific writer prolific prolific theologian but
8:42
also fantastic philosopher and and it was in part his his love of Our Lady
8:48
which the Anglicans do typically share right we they they share a love of Our
8:54
Lady and it was a Our Lady really made an important impact in his life and and
9:00
so he has in his little book of meditations and devotions it's what it's called available from Barone's press I'm
9:06
trying to there we go meditations and devotions of John Henry Cardinal Newman peroneus press is the is
9:14
the editor of it here but you know bless
9:20
st. John Henry Cardinal Newman said to praise to be a Christian and to be a saint to his - it is to have prayed
9:25
often and these are collections of his meditations and you can tell that he is a man who has prayed often and well of
9:32
course we call him Saint John Henry Cardinal Newman today because of it but at the beginning of his meditations and
9:39
devotions he offers a a meditation for
9:45
each day of the month of May and it is on the litany of Loreto so the holy
9:53
house of Loretto as you know our Lord was born in in the Holy house or rather
9:59
it was was born in Bethlehem but grew up in Nazareth and and so the holy house of
10:04
Mary as it's called was was supernaturally transported to little
10:11
town of Laredo and and so there is a litany that that kind of goes along with that you have to google this because
10:17
you're thinking resum hmm that's very interesting and so if you don't know the litany of Loreto or the story of the holy house of Loretto lor eto then it
10:25
would be a good thing for you to maybe Google over the weekend so um so anyway he does a meditation on the litany of
10:32
Loreto for the month of May and I thought I'd just a choose one that that I thought was was particularly
10:39
interesting and and I should say the litany of Loreto or all of the different
10:44
titles of Our Lady so many of the different titles by which we know our Lady come to us from the litany of
10:50
Loreto so so like the the Virgin most-pure the house of gold mystical
10:57
rose Holy Mary the Queen of Angels mirror of Justice seat of wisdom the
11:02
gate of heaven mother of the Savior queen of martyrs virgin most devout
11:08
spiritual vessel Morningstar these beautiful images that come to us not
11:13
just from the tradition but also from Scripture as well some of them from from Scripture and he meditates on each of
11:20
them a really beautiful little thing here so I thought maybe tonight I would read from from the reading from a sixth
11:26
which is Mary as the Domus Aurea the house of gold because it says we're as
11:33
we're kind of holed up in our homes I thought it might be a good a good meditation to meditate
11:38
upon Mary as the house of gold the house of gold so uh so let's see here we go
11:47
Mary is the house of gold st. John Henry Newman says why is she called a house
11:54
and why is she called golden Gold is the most beautiful the most valuable of all
12:00
metals silver copper and steel may in their way be made good to the eye but
12:06
nothing is so rich so splendid as gold we have few opportunities of seeing it
12:11
in any quantity but anyone who has seen a large number of bright gold coins knows how magnificent is the look of
12:18
gold hence it is that in Scripture the holy city is by a figure of speech
12:24
called golden the city says st. John was pure gold as it were transparent glass
12:30
he means of course to give us a notion of the wondrous beautiful beautiful nosov heaven by comparing it with what
12:37
is the most beautiful all the substances which we see on earth therefore it is that Mary too is called golden because
12:46
her Grace's her virtues her innocence her purity are that of transcendent
12:52
brilliancy and dazzling perfection so costly so exquisite that the angels
12:58
cannot so to say keep their eyes off her any more than we could keep gaze that could help gazing upon any great work of
13:05
gold but observe further she is a golden house where I will rather say a golden
13:12
palace let us imagine we saw a whole Palace or large church all made of gold from the Foundation's to the roof such
13:20
in regard to the number the variety the extent of her spiritual excellences is
13:25
Mary but why called a house or a palace and whose Palace she is the house and
13:32
the Palace of the Great King of God himself our Lord the co-equal son of God
13:38
once dwelt in her he was her guest named more than a guest for a guest comes into
13:44
a house as well as leaves it but our Lord was actually born in this holy house
13:49
he took his flesh and his blood from this house from the flesh from the veins of Mary rightly then was she made to be
13:58
of pure gold because she was to give of that gold to form the body of the Son of
14:03
God she was golden and her conception golden in her birth she went through fire the
14:10
fire of her suffering like gold in the furnace and when she ascended on high she was in the words of our him above
14:18
all the angels and glory untold standing next to the king in a vesture of gold
14:24
Mary as the holy house herself a golden
14:29
house the house of gold because as Saint John Henry Newman says the Lord wasn't
14:37
just a guest for a guest comes into a house as well as leaves it but our Lord
14:42
was actually born in this holy house that was Mary he took his flesh in his blood from this house from the flesh from the veins of
14:49
Mary rightly then was she made to be a pure gold because she was to give up
14:54
that gold to form the body of the Son of God beautiful words by Saint John Henry
15:01
Newman that we can reflect on so meditations and devotions are from from
15:07
his book there all right it makes a very simple sense to today that as I say
15:15
we're in our homes that we can meditate upon Mary as the house of gold it's a good way to to go to sleep huh yeah
15:24
seminarian matthew wants to know what the green is about if you look a little
15:29
farther up in the chat in fact let's see I think I can paste it again I remember the Order of Saint Lazarus
15:35
and so you can find out more about them lest I die chat again about the Order of
15:41
Saint Lazarus but suffice to say it is an organization of chivalric order that that cared for lepers in the ten
15:48
hundreds and continues to care for the sick and to pray for them and to reach
15:53
out in help to those who are in need today all right very good and a good evening
15:58
to everybody okay hmm let's see what have you all been up to today today
16:04
today for me the I was going to go to the Chinese restaurant that's
16:11
dangerously close to my parish but because of the because of the stay-at-home orders and everything they
16:16
don't come in until 4 p.m. and and I was hungry at lunch so I said you know what I've got some shrimp in the in the
16:23
freezer so I made a little shrimp and cabbage stir-fry and then made a little
16:28
soy honey glaze with sesame oil as well to go in so I kind of had a little
16:34
Chinese food myself for lunch and then I guess probably because of the fact that there was honey and soy and it just kind
16:41
of lulled me into a sleep and of course it began raining a storm system came through Southeast
16:46
Louisiana and so before I knew it I was napping so I think I pretty much napped the day away which isn't a bad thing
16:53
actually for a for a Friday evening or a Friday afternoon I suppose and then I
16:59
woke up in time to make dinner for myself so I had a little piece of salmon and made some some salmon tacos because
17:05
I still have my rather large stack of tortillas from from Cinco de Mayo so uh
17:11
so I ate Nate well today I think I ate and slept I had kind of the life of a cat today and that's not bad how about
17:18
you all what all did you do today let's see my pj says he likes the Tabernacle
17:24
behind me here that's right exactly the
17:30
yeah the the tabernacle just like the chalice and just like the monstrance are
17:36
typically there they're typically gold or of a precious metal and that's that's
17:41
not just because you know the church has these golden things but because the the
17:48
tabernacle holds the Lord right the tabernacle is the kind of the the resting place of Jesus while uh while we
17:56
adore him and prepare to receive him and the chalice holds what we believe to be
18:01
his very blood the monstrance from the word demonstrate to demonstrate the monstrance holds the sacred host
18:08
that is our Lord present though veiled by a sacrament and so gold is typically
18:13
used because it is it is a precious and bright metal as a and it's something
18:18
that that makes us think this is whatever is happening here is worth and an infinite and near infinite amount and
18:25
of course we know that Jesus is I mean you cannot put a price on the fact that our Lord gives us himself and the
18:32
Eucharist that is a priceless thing that our Lord does and so yeah like right rightly so Mary also is is is likened to
18:40
to a golden house a tabernacle right we often call Mary one of the first Tabernacles or the first tabernacle we
18:48
call her the the first monstrance as well yeah all righty let's see Danny
18:57
picked up grilled shrimp from nacho Mama's not your mama's is our local one
19:02
of our local restaurants that a lot of folks like to frequent I'm glad they're still doing takeout for for everybody
19:12
Monique worked hard from home Doreen vacuum so much the vacuum cleaner
19:19
bit the dust literally and figuratively as it was biting dust it was biting the dust I just got a cheese sandwich for
19:26
lunch and went grocery shopping for the parents Sandra had a great run went to
19:32
hear the word of the Lord very good sue wants to know the the icon behind me
19:38
the one right there yep that's an icon of the Beloved Disciple John st. John
19:47
resting on the chest of our Lord and it's a it was actually it was a gift
19:53
given to me by one of my brother priests on the day of my ordination and it's it's one that I like to meditate upon
19:59
I've had it home since 2006 and and I've
20:04
had it for usually in a chapel in my Chapel wherever I happen to be and so
20:10
it's something that I kind of like to to meditate upon to catch my eye as I'm praying sometimes when I'm praying the
20:15
mass you know those icons are windows to to the persons themselves right that's
20:20
what we believe about also imagery and statuary is that we do not worship the statue or the image but it
20:27
is a window to the person it is a window that allows us access and communion with
20:32
a person just like whenever you look at a picture of one of your loved ones you don't you don't adore that picture well
20:37
you you you know you you venerate the presence of the other right you you long for the time in which you can be with
20:44
them and so you you're able to access your memory but icons are different because they actually allow us a kind of
20:50
a spiritual window to to access communion with that that person to
20:55
access conversation with that person and so that's a weave that's why I keep it there in my chapel also it's covering up
21:01
an electrical panel as well let's see
21:06
here and it makes sense too because it's a it's an icon of the of the Lord and
21:14
the Beloved Disciple at the Last Supper right where where John leans his head on
21:19
the chest of our Lord it's a it's a delightfully intimate image too of a
21:26
Eucharistic presence as well so you'll notice that behind there the chalice is
21:32
also on the on the altar there as the at the on the in the icon let's see here do
21:43
Lidia put mulch around tomatoes good Kevin red de Vera boom and wade into
21:51
fetus at rotc oh very good I tell you fetus at Rossi Oh is a
21:56
fantastic document because you know folks are always saying that faith and science are are not related to one
22:02
another or at war with each other and fetus at Roxio that great work by john paul ii now Pope Saint John Paul the
22:08
second really does do a good job of really giving some some depth to the
22:15
fact that there's really there's no argument but rather a complementarity but but you're right Kevin wading in two
22:22
feet I said ROTC oh there one does not simply open up a document of john paul
22:27
ii you really do have to kind of spend time chewing on it let's see sue watched masters EWTN the
22:36
chaplet of divine mercy at 3:00 p.m. and then got lunch dropped off very nice Kathy had shrimp stir-fry stir-fry as
22:44
well and then napped as well that's that's pretty much what I did the exact same thing
22:50
Helen watched two programs on form org on a sacraments getting and and yeah
22:58
eating slowly ready to get back in the routine of things please God we did yet
23:03
we did get an email from the bishop beginning to kind of get some things together so that we can hopefully in the
23:10
next week be able to begin offering mass again publicly for for all of you in the
23:16
Diocese of Baton Rouge and so a lot of it is contingent upon what the government or I should say what the
23:21
governor's press conference is going to tell us next week and and so it's all
23:26
kind of riding on that and so watch this space and I know to all of my parishioners I'll have information for
23:32
you next week as I'm able to to kind of wrap my brain around what it means for
23:37
our three parishes since I'm the pastor three parishes that's not the same as just kind of making a workable solution
23:43
for one but trying to do something for all three that that makes sense and that that's something that can be sustained
23:49
by by father Armour and myself and all of our staff members and be ready for
23:55
some some opportunities to volunteer to help as well let's see David listen to a
24:04
co vyd the cat Kovach catechism that's father Ryan's a series that he's doing
24:09
on the book of Revelation I think is where he is now you can go to youtube.com slash Catholic Underground
24:14
and father Ryan's Kovach catechism all of his uh his previous lessons are there so if you want to watch that you can
24:21
certainly do that as well now let's see here
24:27
Cheryl went to Mass are treated grocery Archie did grocery shopping I tell you
24:33
mom I'm getting tongue-tied today must be time for me to go back to sleep I hope to watch an episode of chosen later
24:39
tonight very good yeah I know I need to catch up I'm behind on that as well Christine worked at the studio
24:46
shrimp creole very nice I do like shrimp creole one of my favorite things search the Psalms for
24:53
the just right scroll message for her icon of Moses very good Caryn's from Australia well well we're
25:02
glad to have you here what is australian noon for you and happy to pray and
25:08
focusing on Mary she's uh she's certainly near and dear to my heart as well you can't see the that I have an
25:14
icon of Our Lady or not an icon but a statue of Our Lady of Fatima they're not quite in the shot let's see here Trudy
25:23
had our usual bike ride and housecleaning rested well it rained yeah
25:31
Lisa is looking for ideas in the internet to make a war room I don't I don't know what kind of maybe a prayer
25:37
warrior room I I'm so good I I wish you
25:43
a good search I know that that there's one underneath the white house maybe you could Google that let's see
25:51
Damian got his hair cut by a son did a good job feels amazing nothing like a fresh haircut I'm looking forward in a
25:57
couple of weeks to getting mine cut PJ worked today at the VA hospital I'm
26:02
preparing to partially reopen that's been put on hold mm-hmm no certainly we'll keep that in
26:09
prayer started reading The Hobbit with some of my students I don't know if you saw Desiree that Andy Serkis the one who
26:16
who did the motion capture and played Gollum has been reading The Hobbit on on YouTube I believe in to end trying to
26:26
pull the dogs around in the wagon I made flower arrangements I went to Mass went
26:33
went to make groceries as we say in south Louisiana and then also we'll watch the mass sister Maria Magdalena
26:41
has been praying and cleaning and laundry and writing who I tell you yeah
26:49
dr. Rick's had a busy week at the clinic and church business as well and sent
26:55
gifts off to four year old or nearly four year old granddaughter in Kansas I know she'll appreciate that
27:03
Susan did video chat with the kids who 26 plus faces my goodness yeah okay Lisa
27:14
I get you a place for prayer yeah yeah absolutely well this is kind of my war
27:20
room I suppose this is where I come whenever I need to take something into the into the prayer warrior space you
27:27
know I have a statue of Saint Michael they're just above me you can't see it but yeah actually it was it was over on
27:34
my table here for a little while right now I've got a plug that's a conspicuous do anything about roof sent Oh got some
27:45
jambalaya and cucumbers and fig preserves very nice oh yes I've heard
27:52
about this movie war room yeah that's that's obviously where it's coming from I've seen the preview for it as you know
27:57
you have to do your praying in a war room yeah certainly a good thing I know that in many homes if there's not a room
28:04
that's set aside for prayer then there's usually like a little corner like a little prayer chair area yeah I have of
28:11
course I have the chapel here but I also have a little spot in my rectory that's kind of a favorite chair that that's
28:17
comfy that I can kind of hunker down in and do some serious praying in as well
28:23
oh cool Kathleen is is doing the 33 days
28:28
to Morning Glory the the Marian consecration and they're on day 11 so I wish you well keep on truckin what a
28:34
beautiful thing what a beautiful thing indeed PJ's right we're the church
28:40
militant here on earth that's what we're so what we become when we are confirmed right
28:45
we're baptized and confirmed were made soldiers for Christ that's a its military imagery that for some reason
28:51
gets squelched today but it is it is very important for us because we are fighting a battle we are fighting a
28:57
spiritual battle this is not this is not we're not just playing at soldiers but
29:02
but we truly are truly called to battle
29:08
for our soul and for the souls of others we know the war ends but that doesn't mean we don't fight the battles and so yeah absolutely we are we
29:15
are members of the church militant that's some that's our title is right so we have the church triumphant which are
29:22
those souls in heaven we have the church suffering right which are the souls in purgatory who are who are aiming for
29:29
heaven right who are who are on their way and then we're the church militant we are the one who are fighting for
29:34
souls were fighting for our souls the souls of the ones we love and for the souls in purgatory and since we're fighting for them because we're
29:40
interceding for them and then those who are part of the church triumphant right those Saints in heaven the ones who were
29:47
praying for us to do well in our battles right and that's a very real thing we we kind of oftentimes we missed that and
29:53
yet if you ever if you ever pay close attention to the prayers of Lent most especially lent the collects the opening
30:00
prayer there is very heavy military imagery there and it's because the church understands that whenever we are
30:07
kind of trekking our way through Lent we are on kind of a spiritual battle
30:13
campaign and so yeah we're the church is not is not afraid to use the language of
30:18
of the military because you know just as as we must we must deal with with
30:28
difficulties in terms of you know political and blah blah blah we also recognize that all of the
30:34
fighting that we do is primarily against the the principalities that are not of this world
30:40
and so yes you got it you got it good stuff all right so uh to keep me from
30:46
Hama lysing more what is it that we should pray for as we as we move into this time for prayer as well
30:54
Karen says that she does have a sacred space in every room to have a visual reminder how to spend your day that's
31:00
very good yeah I know a lot of folks in in their homes who have just a little spot somewhere in every room that if it
31:07
catches your eye you you pause to pray and that's not a bad idea Lona asks that we pray for priests for
31:14
her family for her church and cluster parishioners for the sick and the elderly for all health care and
31:20
caregivers for government officials and for all people's as well yeah yeah we certainly will pray for
31:27
those I joined the that that same prayer to pray for priests as well the priests of my diocese my brothers in ministry
31:34
for all the deacons who who minister the word and are called to be conformed to
31:41
Christ the servant on to all those those deacons especially we're going to go out and who are going out and trying to
31:47
minister as best they can we pray for the Ramah ghosts and the fry families
31:52
certainly we will pray for those you know as a tragic tragic car accident
31:59
locally in our community I'm effecting both of those families sister maria
32:06
magdalena says for all those who are suffering illness and loss of their loved ones due to these illnesses
32:12
jessica is offering a prayer of thanksgiving for answered prayers our husband goes back to work on Monday Deo
32:18
gracias Cheryl asks that we pray for those to keep for people to keep their jobs and
32:25
for those without to find good jobs on meaningful work good work right there is
32:30
a value to work st. Joseph's tells us that and shows us that there's a value to work let's see here
32:40
Kathleen asked that we pray that we can return to mass soon yes we certainly pray for that Danny says prayers for
32:46
those who are an unemployed as they are increasing prayers for John st. John's
32:52
family too to return to God to the church let's see Irene says that there
33:02
is a house fire in her community for you so we offer all those who are in any way affected by that patty asked that we
33:09
pray for all mothers this weekend that's right as we make our way into mother's day Christine wants us to pray for those
33:16
who are struggling with mental health absolutely we do we shall lift those up
33:22
in prayer Lydia asked that we pray for her daughter to find a new job Amy and
33:28
asked for a safe voyage tomorrow to to Leroy Louisiana to visit in-laws also
33:36
for Carrie pray for Carrie use fighting a migraine fewer things are more way of the cross than battling with
33:42
a significant migraine let's see Lisa asked that we pray for her fiance who
33:49
lost his mother recently yeah we certainly will for Sue those waiting to
33:55
have surgeries that have been postponed and there are many of them for sure moniece asks for prayers for our bishops
34:02
and priests for wisdom as plans are made to begin public worship absolutely let's
34:08
see mo nica asked for us to pray for the our brief family David asked for us to
34:15
pray for all mothers especially those who can't see their families I know I've I would imagine I won't be able to see my mom this Mother's Day because of the
34:22
restrictions in the nursing home and so I'll join my my prayers for my mom to
34:27
those that were offering for all mothers today let's see Sandra asked that we
34:35
pray for the holy for the her kids to receive the Holy Spirit in their lives yes for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit
34:42
the first son for God for God to restore
34:48
his eyesight we asked that in the name of Jesus yes for Johnny says for Luke
34:54
who had surgery today lift him up as well Sharon says for those who struggle with procrastination yes I feel their
35:01
pain for sure Karen says that she's a special religion
35:07
a special religious education teacher and the government primary schools and so we asked for prayers for her health
35:13
so that she's able to return to school when she's allowed back to teach absolutely we pray for your health it's
35:19
important work that you're doing Karen they're down on death Trudy says we we
35:27
can pray for our granddaughter's birthday after exams for our mothers we
35:33
pray for sister Maria Magdalena says to pray for the special intentions of father ray el de Marie for return for
35:40
her son's return to the church yes yes this is a this is a grace time I think
35:46
that perhaps many will come back that's my great hope they'll recognize what they have been
35:53
missing and that the whole can only be filled by God for Eileen and for our
35:59
family for the Dawson family for Shawn's for Sean's journey he's there for
36:06
Shawn's eternal rest Darla asked for us
36:11
to pray for the class of 2020 and our local seniors for sure who should be
36:16
graduating this weekend yeah well they they will be graduating this weekend right but they just won't have the
36:22
ceremonies and whatnot due to all of this so we pray for them for their consolation they're able to to keep on
36:30
keep on trucking crime and asset we pray for her daughter to go about to be able
36:36
to go back to work oh yeah congratulations Donna for your 33 30
36:41
third wedding anniversary one for each year of our Lord's life here and our beautiful Kevin asked for us to pray for
36:48
those who are struggling with the lack of routine or purpose yeah yeah we're
36:53
certainly we're praying for the Dawson family Lydia asked we pray for those with with the attention deficit disorder for all
37:00
those who have - trouble trouble focusing and for Carmen's granddaughter
37:07
as well we pray and for Phillip who's entering the monastery on May 24th all right well certainly a lot of things
37:14
to pray for and as those rolled by well I'll keep keep the intercessions open because the Lord the Lord certainly
37:21
hears all of our prayers those that we've spoken here and those that that continue to make to manifest in the chat
37:28
room and so we'll just transition over I'm going to pull up my eye bravery for
37:36
those of you who are following along it's Friday of the fourth week of Easter and it's night prayer if you look in the
37:43
description on YouTube and on Facebook I don't think periscope has a
37:48
descriptions but if you look in the descriptions and all the social media accounts you can find a link to download
37:54
I bravery or to read it there on the web and you can follow along with us if you like and so as we make this transition
38:01
into prayer we pray for an special intention as well we ask the Lord to be
38:07
in our presence and I suppose I should put my stole on since I'm officially free sting here and sitting on my lap
38:19
priests traditionally kissed their school's their stoles because they are they are holy objects they've been set
38:26
aside they've been blessed for for ministerial use and so it's it's customary and it's part of the right of
38:34
the vesture of priests I don't know if you knew that there were prayers for everything that a priest puts on and and
38:40
so he typically kisses the items as he's putting them on because they are because
38:46
they are set aside for holy use and and as a way of kind of kind of showing
38:52
deference to the Lord who allows us to minister in his name who allows priests to minister in his name so we ask the
38:57
Lord to be in our presence to certainly be among us as we offer this prayer to
39:05
him certainly night prayer for us but but for those of you who might be joining us around the world on the other
39:11
side of the world this would be an afternoon prayer for you so it'll be I guess a little strange as we as we are
39:17
talking about laying ourselves down to sleep it's alright though it's okay because it's a beautiful witness to the
39:23
church at prayer at every hour of the day God come to my assistance Oh Lord
