Got an annoying airbag light flashing on
0:02
your Nissan Alultima dash? Yeah, that
0:04
blinking little guy that won't go away.
0:06
Good news. In most cases, you can reset
0:08
it yourself in under five minutes. No
0:10
tools needed. Hey folks, I'm Tom from
0:13
Car Justify. I've been fixing up Nissan
0:15
for years, and this airbag light trick
0:17
is one I show friends all the time.
0:18
Super simple, and yep, it actually
0:20
works. All right, here's the deal. This
0:22
method works on most Altimas from around
0:24
2005 up through the 2016 range and
0:27
sometimes newer. It's a timed reset
0:30
using your ignition key or push button
0:31
start. Doesn't cost a dime. Here's what
0:34
you do. Sit in the car, close the doors,
0:36
and make sure everything's off. Now,
0:38
turn the key to the on position. Don't
0:40
start the engine. If you've got push
0:42
button start, press it twice without
0:44
your foot on the brake. The airbag light
0:46
will come on solid for a couple seconds
0:48
and then it'll start blinking. The
0:50
moment it turns off, and I mean the
0:52
second it goes out, turn the key back to
0:55
off or hit the button once to shut it
0:57
down. Wait about 5 seconds, then do it
1:00
again. Turn it to on. Wait for the light
1:02
to blink and shut it off right after it
1:04
goes out. You're going to do this cycle
1:06
four times total. That's the magic
1:08
number. After the fourth time, turn the
1:10
key to on one more time. And this time,
1:13
just let it sit. The airbag light should
1:15
come on, blink a few times, then turn
1:18
off completely. If it stays off, you're
1:20
golden. That means the system did a soft
1:23
reset and cleared the error. Now, just
1:25
start the car like normal. That pesky
1:27
light should be gone. If it comes back
1:29
later, that usually means there's an
1:31
actual sensor issue or a loose connector
1:33
under the seat. But this reset trick
1:35
works great if it was just a temporary
1:37
fault. Quick side note, I had a buddy
1:40
spill a drink under the passenger seat
1:42
once and it triggered the light. Dried
1:43
it out, did this reset, and boom, light
1:46
gone. No dealer visit needed. All right,
1:48
hope that helped. If it did, hit that
1:50
like button to let me know and subscribe

1:54
work. I'll catch you next time. And
1:56
remember, even airbag lights aren't as
