Conservatives demand a spring budget. Not in the fall when half of the fiscal year is over
May 28, 2025
They voted for hope for a change. And while we narrowly missed forming government, we now have every duty to fulfill that hope and fight for that change. And that change means that Canada that is affordable, safe, self reliant and united. And those are our priorities for this session of Parliament. And priorities take plans, our plan. ... At first, his finance minister said there would be no budget this year for the first time outside of COVID in approximately 2 decades. Then the Prime Minister came out and said, well, there will be a budget, but it will be in the fall when half of the fiscal year is over. How do you budget for something that has already happened? Maybe they think that budgets will balance themselves.

messiu wow what a guy congratulations
0:05
Jonathan 12 vote
0:08
victory he he won he's one of the most
0:10
efficient election victories ever uh
0:14
some of you guys win by 20,000 votes
0:16
very inefficient uh Jonathan Jonathan
0:19
did it with 12 he wanted to keep us in
0:22
suspense for a few days before bringing
0:24
the news uh but of course uh Jonathan
0:28
and the team in Newfoundland we
0:30
delivered our best result in that
0:31
province in two decades part of a
0:34
stronger and bigger nationwide
0:36
conservative team that added 2.4 million
0:39
votes 24 seats news of the recount in
0:43
Newfoundland strengthens that and points
0:45
to the fact that we've expanded our
0:47
coalition to include union workers young
0:50
people newcomers and others who had
0:52
never voted before they voted for hope
0:54
for a change and while we narrowly
0:57
missed forming government we now have
1:00
every duty to fulfill that hope and
1:02
fight for that change and that change
1:05
means a Canada that is affordable safe
1:08
self-reliant and united and those are
1:11
our priorities for this session of
1:18
Parliament and priorities take plans our
1:21
plan first we got to get the cost of
1:24
living down and we're going to be
1:26
demanding a spring budget that reveals
1:29
the true deficit lowers spending taxes
1:33
and inflation second to get homes built
1:37
by cutting taxes and red tape on
1:40
construction third to restore economic
1:42
independence by unleashing our
1:44
businesses and our resources fourth to
1:48
bring safety to our streets by locking
1:50
up dangerous offenders and securing our
1:53
borders and fifth speaking of our
1:55
borders we need to get immigration under
1:58
control after a decade of liberal
2:00
incompetence cost of living and
2:02
budgeting well Mr carney told us all
2:06
that uh he said I'd like to say it again
2:07
and again that a slogan is not a plan
2:12
well I point out that is a slogan
2:16
but but I'll tell you what a plan is a
2:20
budget is a plan is literally a
2:27
plan and first his finance minister said
2:30
there would be no budget this year for
2:33
the first time outside of COVID in
2:36
approximately two decades then the prime
2:39
minister came out and said "Well there
2:40
will be a budget but it will be in the
2:42
fall when half of the fiscal year is
2:44
over." How do you budget for something
2:47
that has already happened maybe they
2:49
think that budgets will balance
2:52
themselves we need a budget to cut
2:54
bureaucracy consultants foreign aid and
2:57
corporate welfare to generate the
2:58
savings for lower debt taxes and
3:01
inflation for too long workers and small
3:04
businesses have carried this morbidly
3:06
obese government on their backs they
3:08
can't afford it they can't bear it
3:09
anymore lowering the cost of government
3:12
will lower the cost of living we must
3:14
unbburden our hardworking people so that
3:17
they can go further and reach higher
3:19
with stronger buying power and lower
3:22
taxes our incredible workers and
3:24
entrepreneurs will have their work
3:26
rewarded their purchasing power
3:28
preserved and our economy strengthened
3:31
and speaking of our economy our second
3:33
priority is economic independence for
3:35
Canada we all want a permanent end to
3:38
tariffs with the US and we will work
3:40
with the government to help make that
3:41
happen i've already told the prime
3:42
minister that we are happy to cooperate
3:44
any way we can to bring about an end to
3:47
this unnecessary dispute and restore our
3:51
sovereign not just our our sovereignty
3:54
but also tariff-free access to the most
3:56
successful international trading
3:58
arrangement in the world and we can't
4:00
help but note that the prime minister
4:02
promised during the election that he
4:03
would put his elbows up and apply dollar
4:06
fordoll tariffs that would raise tens of
4:10
billions of dollars now let's be clear
4:12
he said that it would raise $20 billion
4:15
this year alone and he published that in
4:17
a platform released after he had quietly
4:20
eliminated most of those tariffs so how
4:23
is he going to make up the money and why
4:25
did he put his elbows down when he said
4:27
they were up look despite the prime
4:29
minister's double speak we will work as
4:31
I said to try and get to help him try
4:33
and get a trade deal to put an end to
4:36
the tariffs but we also need to focus on
4:39
making our own economy more independent
4:41
and self-reliant so that we're no longer
4:43
vulnerable to such international
4:45
surprises that means unleashing our
4:47
industry and its mighty workers to make
4:50
things here for ourselves and for
4:52
overseas markets it's not enough to say
4:55
you want to build the government must
4:57
remove the laws taxes and rules that
5:01
stand in the way and that's why
5:03
conservatives are proposing practical
5:05
and real removal of obstacles and the
5:08
industrial carbon tax the energy caps
5:11
the electric vehicle mandates the no new
5:13
pipelines law the West Co the West Coast
5:15
shipping ban and more if the government
5:18
agrees to these changes we will move as
5:20
early as the spring to pass them all
5:22
they have our word let's remove the
5:24
obstacles let's harvest our resources
5:26
let's make Canada truly
5:39
independent doing so will allow us to be
5:42
self-reliant from the US by building
5:44
mines pipelines nuclear and LNG plants
5:47
hydroelect electric dams and so much
5:49
more we must be the fastest place in the
5:52
OECD to get a building permit and we
5:54
must have the lowest taxes on work
5:57
investment energy and home building and
6:00
speaking of home building that brings us
6:02
to our third priority conservatives will
6:05
fight to free up land speed up permits
6:08
and cut taxes on buyers and builders we
6:11
must restore the dream of home ownership
6:14
that has been lost over the last liberal
6:16
decade and
6:26
We want those houses to be in safe
6:29
neighborhoods we want those homes to be
6:31
in places where children can play
6:33
outside where seniors can enjoy a walk
6:36
where the cars don't go missing in the
6:38
middle of the night and that is why this
6:40
session we will fight to end catch and
6:42
release bail house arrest multiple
6:44
murder discounts we'll push for
6:46
treatment and not drugs to free our
6:49
loved ones from the clutches of
6:51
addiction we want a drug-free Canada
6:53
where people can get back on their feet
6:56
and have
6:59
hope and we want to restore sanity to
7:03
our immigration system we must end the
7:06
outof control liberal immigration by
7:08
reducing numbers capping population
7:11
deporting criminals and integrating
7:13
newcomers canadians are a welcoming
7:16
people but our health care housing and
7:19
job markets are now overflowing because
7:21
population growth has been too fast
7:23
under the Liberals we must also ensure
7:26
integration we ens must ensure that
7:28
foreign conflicts are left at the door
7:31
no more rampaging anti-semitic riots on
7:34
Canadian streets
7:47
so once again our five goals for this
7:48
session bring down the cost of living
7:50
with a co with a budget that cuts
7:52
spending taxes and inflation boost home
7:55
building by cutting taxes and regulatory
7:58
red tape on construction third
8:01
unleashing resources and businesses to
8:03
free our economy from dependence on the
8:05
US fourth restore safety on our streets
8:08
by repealing liberal laws locking up
8:10
repeat offenders and securing our
8:12
borders and fifth getting immigration
8:14
under control these are our goals but
8:18
our mission can be summed up in one word
8:22
hope when we expose liberal failures
8:26
when we argue about policies we don't do
8:30
it just to hold the government to
8:32
account we do it because we want things
8:34
to get better when we act as a
8:36
government in waiting we do it to
8:38
provide the hope that things can and
8:40
will get better in a future conservative
8:43
government we will present ourselves as
8:46
a government in waiting to ensure that
8:48
people know that that hope remains the
8:50
hope that our youth will one day be able
8:53
to move out of their parents' homes and
8:54
into their own start a family in that
8:56
new home with happy problems like having
8:58
to get out of the car when you get home
9:01
from work to remove the hockey net so
9:03
you can get the car into the
9:05
garage knowing that kids were playing
9:08
safely there after they got home from
9:10
school and that they will be in the
9:12
House of Commons procrastinating about
9:14
their homework
9:16
the families that need hope that their
9:18
fridge can be full without their bank
9:20
account being empty the hope that
9:22
seniors can return to that evening walk
9:25
they used to so much enjoy until crime
9:27
and danger interrupted it the hope that
9:30
our trades workers can again earn six
9:32
figure jobs digging mines building
9:35
pipelines and constructing homes that
9:37
other people can afford the hope of
9:39
restoring a country that takes care of
9:41
its own stands on its own two feet
9:43
united under one flag in the freest
9:45
country on earth the hope that the
9:47
strivers the battlers the fighters the
9:49
ones who scrape by and fight on the ones
9:52
who get knocked down but get back up and
9:54
never quit and keep pushing forward they
9:57
won't give up and neither should we we
9:59
are their champions their worries are
10:02
our concerns their cause is our purpose
10:05
they are counting on us they believe in
10:07
us they put their hope in us and we will
10:09
fulfill that hope for our people for our
10:12
country for Canada now and forever thank
10:15
you very much
