Welcome to the Growth Mindset Show. If you are joining us first time, welcome to the show
2:07
If you are joining us back, welcome back to the show. some of you may already know this show is for you i'm here for you if you have any questions
2:16
concerned you want to comment you want to jump in start posting your comments we will take your
2:21
questions and today's topic is social media i'm sure um most of us here are on social media and
2:30
today we are going to talk a little bit about social media and i want to get you involved i want to know what you think and what you do and all that so i want to get
2:39
you involved in that we are going to talk a little bit about what's going on on c-sharp corner we are
2:47
also going to talk about some of the hiring and what new things we are working on the product as
2:51
well and uh let's start and we're going to have a guest in the second half of the show it's going
2:58
to be again 30 40 minutes show uh and we're going to have a guest hopefully my sound is good let me
3:04
check i am and i'm on a different laptop today um so yeah let's start with a one of the cool things
3:12
happened this week i don't know if you have tried but windows 11 launch on october 5th is uh any of
3:20
you have any of you installed windows 11 yet uh yeah just post me in your chat in the comments um
3:29
if you have installed windows 11 or if you're planning to install it if you have already
3:36
installed it let me know what you think and then i'll share what i think i just installed windows
3:41
11 on one of my laptops um so a couple of things i found is biggest problem i found with windows 11
3:50
is the login so if you are mean like many of you are and like me uh you use your laptop for your
3:57
personal use as well as your for your company use so if you um are on microsoft teams or somehow
4:06
logged into your company's network somehow my windows 11 was messed up the login was messed up
4:18
and what was the problem was actually when i was trying to log in using my pin
4:25
it would not let me use my pin it was thinking that my company account was my login account
4:31
so it took me a while to figure that out so if you are using your laptop
4:38
in to access your company teams i would highly recommend that you remove that account before
4:46
you upgrade your windows 11 or maybe just uninstall teams for the for the time being
4:52
until you install it. That should fix your problem. One other thing you want to do probably
5:00
so there's multiple ways you can install Windows 11. I think Microsoft recommends is that you wait
5:08
until your Windows update starts showing that you now have a Windows 11 and you can install there
5:16
That's what Microsoft recommends. That's what I would recommend as well, but I didn't want to wait
5:20
because my laptop wasn't showing it. So I was like, no, I really want to install right now
5:25
So I went, download it, and I installed myself. That's probably the reason I got those problems
5:31
what problems I got. So, yeah, if you have installed Windows 11
5:37
what your first thoughts are? I think what I, to me, it's okay
5:42
I mean, I like this new, okay, there's new design, there's new screens
5:47
It's more like Apple looking. Yeah, big deal. I can care less. I was fine with my Windows 10 as well
5:54
It has more themes and all that. I think it's targeting more the younger people who are looking for cool UI
6:03
I haven't dig more into the performance and other hardware and other things
6:08
but good thing is everything else worked fine. Your audio, video, anything I was using, my drivers, everything was fine
6:18
Visual Studio, Office, all the applications seems to be working fine. Skype, no problems
6:27
Yeah, I didn't have any other problems. Okay, so Deepak says he's using Windows 11 since
6:33
29th June. So you probably try very early. That's awesome. That's great. Yeah, Deepak, if you like it
6:40
what do you think? You like? You don't like? What's your favorite feature in there
6:44
yeah just share with us yeah that's great so that was windows 11 let's start with another topic we
6:53
are going to cover in c-sharp corner so c-sharp corner we are uh you know rebranding the platform
6:59
the the whole website and the apps all those combined um we are working in the design phase
7:08
right now we are always designing okay there's always some work going on c-sharp corner we have
7:13
a team of developers and designers. But this time we are really thinking about how Windows 10
7:22
and Windows 11 they kind of read the whole thing Same thing we are thinking about C Sharp Corner More details I have more designs I have I going to start sharing with you know talk about some of the things on this show as well
7:36
So that's something cool coming up. I'm very excited about this. There's a lot of things coming on C Sharp Corner as well as, you know, on our platform
7:46
On jobs, C Sharp Corner jobs, we are now more working on jobs a lot
7:51
You probably saw job section where we are posting jobs daily. we're also hiring ourselves
7:56
I mean, C Sharp Corner team is hiring in India and US, as well as my company, Mindcracker
8:02
We're also hiring developers for our clients in Mindcracker in the US
8:08
So if you know anybody or any who's looking for a job
8:12
it has to be experienced. Yeah, unfortunately, we don't hire too many younger
8:16
unexperienced people, but it's just the demand. That's how it is, right? So check that out, jobs
8:23
And, you know, if you know somebody who's looking for jobs, just check out those
8:27
Great thing in the U.S. is, I don't know about India, but in the U.S. is that there's so much demand for software developers, all kinds of software developers, .NET developers, Java developers, cloud architects, cloud engineers, DevOps engineers
8:42
There's so much demand. And because this pandemic and working from home, it has changed so much
8:47
The technology has moved almost five years advance in the last one year or so
8:52
So that's why there's so much demand coming up. So all of you who are in this field, we should all be lucky because there's no limitation of so many things you can learn and grow
9:03
And job is not a problem these days. So that's, I covered those two things
9:10
And I want to talk about the main topic in social media today. And I want to talk about social media
9:15
And let me bring our guest today, David Simon. Whenever David's ready, he can come in
9:21
and we're going to just talk about social media. I'm sure you probably heard that Facebook, Instagram
9:31
and WhatsApp went down. Do you know why they went down? Did you read anything on that
9:37
And I want to just first wait for your responses that what do you guys think
9:43
And then I'll talk about why it went down and what was the major problem
9:49
at least what I read online. But this is the biggest problem going forward
9:57
in this world we live in, right? One of the problems is going to happen
10:02
Yes, Simon said there was DNS issues. There were some routing issues. So here's the funny part
10:08
Their company, their building, you know, buildings have these login, you know, people can check in, check out
10:15
they can use their key to you know open the door and even open the office doors and i think one of
10:22
the reason was because their server went down means their applications went down means their
10:27
card didn't work so the the technical people who are supposed to fix the dns and other issues
10:35
their card they couldn't get in the office so they didn't get an office how will you get so i think
10:40
one of the challenges that when you build applications, they are centralized. They are
10:46
stored and managed on centralized servers. And something happened to those servers
10:52
What happened? That's when these old problems happened. It wasn't distributed. It wasn't
10:57
decentralized. Right. And that's where I'm more and more getting involved in blockchain technology
11:02
And that's what blockchain brings to the table is decentralization. And it's distributed. That
11:08
means there are multiple nodes and they are each node acts as a server and if one or two nodes goes
11:15
down that's fine they go down that's fine because the rest of the network will still be functioning
11:19
so that was funny i thought but since we are all building the software right all of us i'm sure
11:27
you're watching they're all building software biggest challenge for us is coming out in next
11:34
a few years is the data the amount of data we are storing each like every day think of us like
11:41
you wake up first thing what do you do you look at your phone look at your time you then look at
11:46
your social media you look at emails you wake up and then you you know listen to music while you're
11:53
in shower or eating you're reading news or something then you are working on your remotely
12:00
on your laptop and then all day you're doing something you're watching movie so what we are
12:07
doing as a human being is we are all either creating a lot of content and storing that
12:15
somewhere or we are consuming means we're downloading from somewhere and consuming it
12:20
so point is that all of us seven billion people in this world every minute every second in their
12:28
devices, just the phone, homes, cars, all what we are doing is we are like generating so much data
12:35
and we are consuming so much data. So data is going back and forth to billions of people
12:42
And this data not only travels from one machine to other machine, one server to other server
12:47
it's also stored on so many servers, thousands of thousands sometimes. So this is going to create
12:56
so much problem for us and we should be ready for that so this good part for us is that's what you
13:01
need to start thinking like if you want to build something learn something new in future what is
13:06
this coming so that's where i think pushpinder has a good point web 3.0 right web 3.0 has these
13:13
technologies so it's supposed to solve some of these problems and blockchain is one of them
13:18
and that's why my more focus on blockchain is blockchain is one of the technologies that will
13:24
help solve this centralized problem. And Keshev joins us. Good morning, Keshev. I think it's
13:31
night there. You are in a village. This is night. Hushvinder, welcome to the show again. Today we
13:36
are talking about social media, how social media is impacting our lives, good and bad. If you have
13:42
any feedback on social media here, just share me why you like, what you dislike. And I'll put my
13:49
on points here with social media. So I was doing some research and in the US we spend average 3.13
14:00
three hours like three and quarter hours each day on social media. Average person. I'm not
14:07
talking about me, everybody you know some spend probably one hour, some spend five hours. This
14:11
is how it is. So we're spending about three hours. What happened to my Instagram? Okay Simon says
14:19
what happened to my Instagram. Yes, I will share my story with Instagram. So we spend about three hours on social media
14:29
If you combine three hours a day in your whole lifetime, we live around 80 years, average lifetime
14:36
In 80 years, we spend eight years of our lives on social media
14:42
You're basically spending a big chunk of your life. Think of this. in 24 hours you ensure seven eight hours sleep six to eight hours you spend some time working
14:54
obviously average people work four hours a four hours a day that how much we work we sleep and as much as we are working same thing amount we are spending on social media and goofing around on these apps
15:07
Think about that. And how productive it is making you. So one thing is that we are spending seven, eight years of our lives on social media
15:17
That means all these companies, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, LinkedIn, all that are taking a big chunk of our lives
15:30
And if we don't start realizing that the time we are spending on the social media, if we are not getting anything out of it, that means we are wasting that time
15:42
And I'm not saying social media is bad or good. It can be good. It can be bad
15:46
it depends on how you use it. You have to have a balance. You have to have a balance between
15:51
your personal use, your entertainment use, your friends and family use versus your productive
15:58
use, right? The social media can also be thought of as a tool, tool for your growth, tool for your
16:06
personal growth, tool for your professional growth. So if I'm on Twitter and I'll give an example
16:14
if I'm on Twitter and I'm a programmer, I want to learn, I will follow the accounts that will help me
16:19
learn new things, right? But if I'm on Twitter or Facebook and I'm following something that's like
16:25
politics, that's like, you know, something that's interested to me, but it's not really
16:29
helping me grow in my life, then you start wasting your time. And the research just came out
16:36
the study just came out, and there was a big debate going in the US is now how social, especially
16:42
Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg, CEO, when they build these algorithms, they are making them
16:48
more and more addictive. And they are bringing all the topics where they will get you more addictive
16:55
For example, we all know that hate, emotional hate is one of the most fastest growing emotions
17:03
right? It will catch you much faster than anything, than love, than other emotions, right
17:09
So what does that mean? It means if you post something which you hate or dislike, you are more likely to comment on that, to share that, to, you know, get furious about it
17:21
So your brain starts going out. So end of the day, what's happening? End of the day, it's wasting your time
17:27
You're wasting your time because it's not helping you grow, right? First of all, it's taking you away from your goals
17:34
and second of all by the time you realize that you're done with this thing you spend so much
17:40
time it's frustrating you that also affect your other things and a perfect example is let's say
17:46
you read you go so you know you go to your facebook today you read something that somebody
17:50
posted a you know bad thing about one of the leaders you love and then you reply that back
17:56
and you reply back and forth and out of sudden you're just fighting on social media but the
18:01
fighting maybe on social media now your your whole mind is all you know you are all angry or
18:07
all that now you go to work and then your anger is going to be reflected there or you go to meet
18:14
your friends or you're with family so it all affects into everybody around you
18:19
and that's what you need to think about that really is the social media
18:26
helping you grow in your personal professional life and i'm not saying it is or it maybe it is
18:32
a lot of people taking advantage i've i've know people i've known people where they started
18:37
facebook they started twitter they started youtube and they're making a lot of good money on that
18:42
they're using that a business use they put content out there and they promote the content their
18:47
followers so they are being they're using social media as a tool if you're using social media as a
18:52
because you are bored with your life, you have nothing important to do, you need to rethink about
18:57
your life because social media is not the place to be. And they also found out in the research that
19:03
the impact of social media like is the same as you would do, you know, impact on your brain is
19:12
same as from any drugs. Like, you know, it affects the same part of your brain. So you get these
19:18
you know, dopamine release where you feel good. You feel happy. You feel like some satisfied
19:23
but it's very temperately. Then because effects like a drug, you wanted more, right? You wanted
19:30
more, you go back again. And all of a sudden becomes a habit. Once it becomes a habit
19:35
then it's hard to quit that. Once you start, you know, using it, then becomes a habit. And then
19:43
even you don't want to do it, you'll just automatically do it because you're not even
19:46
doing it. It's just your subconscious mind is already trying to do it because now it's your
19:52
habit. So if you're trying to build something habit, think about this really. Look inside you
19:59
ask yourself a question, okay, how much time did I spend today on social media
20:05
And what did I get out of that? Think about it. And I want to give you one more question to think
20:13
about how many times you look at your bank account that how much money you have look at your expenses
20:22
how much money you're going to spend this month look at your income and do the calculations and
20:28
work on that like okay i'm making this much money each month i'm spending this much how do i manage
20:33
that money how many times how many of you do that just reply me here how many of you think about
20:39
money every day. I bet all of us, everybody think about even if you ask Elon Musk who is the richest
20:47
person in the world he also probably thinking about money every day. But how many times really
20:54
do you think about in the day that how am I spending my time? Ask yourself how many times
21:04
do you think in a day that how did you spend your time today time is probably the most valuable
21:10
currency in the world because we have 24 hours a day you cannot make it you cannot earn more this
21:16
is limited that's it so if you look at the habits of success people successful people versus not so
21:23
successful people it's only one of the biggest difference you will find is how do you manage your
21:30
time and how do you spend your time and what do you get out of that and you probably saw my article
21:39
on productivity and that's the reason I write on these because I learned from my you know what I do
21:45
learn and I write about it I may be wrong I may be right that's why I want to you know listen from
21:50
you like do you agree do you disagree what's your thought on this why don't you post comment I want
21:57
to discuss some comments let's take some comments like come on guys we want to know if um so what
22:01
does let's say pushbender says that don't believe blindly on social media you must post yes you must
22:08
do the fast check that's very important actually one of the biggest problem with social media
22:14
is that there's so much false information um and it's hard to do fact check actually you know it's
22:21
not that easy that oh is it fact or is it not right If I following some person which I like and they are motivated by some let say some religion or some politics and they post something i automatically assumed that
22:37
yeah i think because i trust that person that's the challenge and doing all the research and
22:43
finding out what's right what's wrong is uh it takes time so to me if you ask me i don't believe
22:51
anything i don't care about things i ignore things so you have to think about always one thing can
22:57
help in this is set up your goals set up your goals and what you want to say for example
23:04
i don't know you want to become you want to own your own company let's just say that you want to
23:10
start your own business you want to start your own startup set up that goal in everything you do
23:16
think about how is this thing helping you get to your goal so for example you want to start your
23:23
startup i don't know selling so you are you have an app and you want to build an app for
23:28
i don't know selling some products you go on social media great you go personally you know
23:36
social media for your personal use but also think can i use this social media that can help me in my
23:43
startup in my business start thinking that way once you start thinking that way you automatically
23:49
you know ignore the things that don't matter to you that's so that's why it will help if you want
23:55
let's say you want to do a master's degree or phd in computer science start following people
24:01
start following companies or start following accounts that will help you educate you on that
24:06
topic if you want to become a software architect try to start following accounts because whatever
24:14
accounts you follow more information you see from them more you will read and that's what you will
24:20
become it's a known fact we become what information we consume it's that simple and you can tell
24:27
there's so many you know famous people have quoted that and it's proven that you you are what your
24:33
friends are if you look at your five closest friends you are reflection of that if not you
24:39
will become exactly that because that's where you consume most of your information and that's what
24:45
your brain will start believing that yeah and that's what you'll become so think about this
24:52
way i think we need some guests anybody wants to come join uh pospender you want to come join in
24:57
the back side looks like you have good knowledge of a lot of topics anybody wants to come join
25:01
behind the scene. I think we're waiting on David. David is going to join us in a minute
25:10
And here we go. Hey, David, look at that. How are you? I love your background
25:16
Yeah, that's all my speakers from my first year of Rocking the Code World
25:22
Yeah, and these are some of the people that are very influential in this programming world
25:27
especially in Microsoft. Yep, that's true. How are things going there in California
25:33
They're going good. It's actually raining here, which is very rare for San Diego, at least
25:40
All right. We had some really bad thunderstorms on Monday, which is very, very, very rare
25:47
We rarely get lightning and thunder here at all. Wow, wow. Yeah
25:52
So before that, Puspinner has asked, how do I join? So Simon, you can help him out
25:57
Puspinner, I would love to have you join in a few minutes. Yep. So yeah, about thunderstorms. So day before yesterday, I was sleeping at night and I was dreaming that my house is flying. And then I woke up and Lana told me that, did you know that we had bad thunderstorm last night and the house was shaking
26:19
yeah and i didn't the next day i realized that was real because when i sleep i'm out okay yeah
26:29
you can literally you know have a band playing on my ear i'm not gonna wake up yeah yeah yeah
26:36
so all right how things going everything is going good there yeah yeah yeah so we were today we were
26:42
talking about social media and i know you are very active on social media i'm personally not
26:47
on Facebook. I had a Facebook account. I uploaded a bunch of pictures of my son and kids a long time
26:54
ago. I didn't want to delete them. Account is there as in like a saving so I can go back
26:59
I don't really use Facebook. I'm never on Facebook. Yeah, I've actually, you know
27:05
I was thinking about this before you brought me on. And, you know, quite frankly, the only reason
27:10
I'm even on social media is because of the MVP summit. You know, because way back a long time
27:17
ago when I was at the MVP summit, Facebook was out and, you know, the, the only way we could
27:23
really kind of communicate amongst ourselves and where the parties are and where things are
27:28
happening was, was Facebook. Right. And so right there at the conference, I joined Facebook so I
27:36
could find out where all the parties are. And then a couple of years later everybody kind of moved to
27:41
Twitter. And so then that's how we found out where everything was going on. And so quite frankly
27:48
I don't think I even had a desire to join social media. And to tell you what I've done
27:57
especially because of the political climate in America, at least, that the beginning of last
28:04
summer, I basically pseudo left Facebook, right? I took it off my phone. I only use it pretty much
28:13
to market my shows and my books and stuff like that. I really don't do anything personal on it
28:19
anymore. You know, there's only one person I chat to in India through it. And she's the one who did
28:26
the painting of me. And so, yeah, I don't really use Facebook. And I've even tweeted and put on
28:36
Facebook if anybody would mind if I deleted my Facebook account. Oh, Mahesh, we can't hear you
28:44
anymore. Mahesh, I think you're on mute. Something's going on. We can't hear you
28:56
you've done something. Push print that even you are muted. Yeah. I think you're muted somehow
29:08
Anyway, I'll keep talking while Mehesh tries to figure it out. But yeah
29:13
so that's the only reason. And I don't really use Facebook anymore. And to tell you the truth
29:17
since I left it, which was actually took me a couple of days to kind of get myself off the
29:24
addiction of Facebook. but um i feel so much better that i'm not on facebook anymore you know my let my stress is
29:33
better my mood is better you know i don't waste so much freaking time you know on the phone or
29:38
on the web just looking at people's silly pictures and stuff so um i feel better not being on facebook mahas
29:49
mahas is still still trying to figure out his audio problems so i'll keep talking i guess
29:56
So for our other guests on here, what do you think about social media
29:59
Yes, social media is very cool to reach out with multiple people
30:06
Because of social media, I am connected here and I used to follow Mahesar for a long time
30:14
And after that, I saw the tweet link and then I joined this one
30:19
Actually, sometimes what happens with social media algorithm is just like whatever you like
30:48
Yeah. And let me, let me stop you real quick because like half of your audio is cutting out
30:59
So I guess it's the problems with audio show. So maybe you can look at your microphone because something's happened and
31:08
we're only getting like half of what you're saying through, through your microphone. So I guess I'll keep talking
31:17
I don't know what anybody else have comments about social media. But, you know, I think maybe what you were saying is don't blindly believe social media
31:29
Yeah. And that's, you know, that's, you know, that's one problem we have, especially with Facebook, is that, you know, all the people, all the forces out there that are trying to, you know, get you to think their way or buy their products or everything are on
31:47
mass on Facebook. And unfortunately, you know, we're finding out in America, at least that
31:52
Facebook has alkylorythms that basically, you know, take the more angry things and put them
32:00
to the top of your list. Right. And because they found out that, you know, negative angry
32:05
posts sells more product, you know, they, they get, you know, their advertisers get more clicks
32:12
And so they make more money. And, you know, as we found out Monday when they were down for six hours, you know, they you know, I saw in one news report that they are losing three hundred million dollars an hour
32:24
You know, when they were down. And so just think about just promoting that negative stuff, how that really, you know, gets more advertising money
32:35
Right. And and and that's quite frankly, I know a lot of people like Facebook and especially people from other countries like India and places like that
32:43
But, you know, unless I'm wrong, you know, Twitter doesn't do that. Right
32:50
Twitter is just a continuous feed, you know, top down. They don't put things at the top. They try to, you know, try to get you to buy products or, you know, think of one political way or something like that
33:03
So that's kind of why I basically like Twitter, because it's more of just promoting things
33:11
Oh, there you are. Yeah, sorry. I'm using a new laptop. Something is going on here
33:16
Yeah. And funny thing is, I was using this. It wasn't working
33:20
So it was nice to see you, buddy. Yeah. No, he had a good point, right
33:26
Social media has very good use, right? if we use it as a tool, not as a lifestyle, right
33:34
So, you know, people follow us. We connect on social media. We share photos and all that
33:40
So as long as we don't go on Instagram and fall for those addictive, you know, feeds
33:48
because we're going to keep feeding you more and more. So as long as we manage our time right, that's how we need to do
33:55
Yeah. Yeah. And, you know, before you brought me on, I was thinking about social media
34:00
And one of the things that really, really irritates me about people who are addicted to social media, you know, because when I was on Facebook, I have to admit, I was a little bit addicted to it
34:11
But there are some people that are so addicted to it, they literally can't not check their phone every two minutes
34:18
Right. Yeah. And and and this really bugs me, especially when I'm on a date
34:23
you know if i'm on a first date with somebody right and and they start looking at their phone
34:29
every two minutes you know that's the last date yeah right because i don't want to i don't want
34:34
to be with anybody that is living their life through social media and that's all they can
34:40
pay attention to right yeah and this becomes your habit at one point right so when where are you
34:45
joining us from just tell us a little bit what do you do where are you joining us from
34:49
Right now, I am living in Malaysia. In the last lockdown, I stuck here
34:54
Right now, the lockdown is not open. In India, you have to do a fully vaccination
35:03
I am stuck in Malaysia and right now, I am living in Malaysia
35:07
Oh wow! For a year or so? That long? Yeah, two years
35:12
Wow! Can you imagine? Stuck in Malaysia for two years. Well, hopefully you're enjoying it, you know
35:19
Oh, there you go. Yeah. It's a hotel room? No, no. Okay
35:28
All right. Hey, listen, that's what it is, the world of remote
35:32
That's what world of remote is, you know. I just want to say real quick before we, you know, move off this topic is that
35:40
I mean, move off of what we're talking about right now is that, you know, the problem with social media that i see you know not only with social media but phones themselves
35:50
is you know people become addicted to it and just like any other drug they don't realize it
35:55
right yeah yeah and even when you even when you confront them with it it's like talking to a drug
36:02
addict well yeah they don't realize because remember our breath away our brain works and
36:08
I'm doing a lot of study research on our mind brain, like physically it works is really whatever you do a lot
36:16
It start thinking that that's the truth. That's the real. That's how brain is
36:20
Okay. It's very simple. Our brain is designed to make us happy
36:24
It wants to, you may be, you know, there are killers, right
36:28
Killers don't think they're the bad people because their mind convinced them that they are doing the right thing
36:33
They were supposed to do that. They had no choice. So it makes so many excuses. this mind makes so many excuses for you yes um and I want to have more discussion on mind how it
36:43
works along other this point but today I want to focus on social media and I want to learn from
36:48
people who are watching this like why are you on social media if you are doing something productive
36:53
but the biggest problem with social media comes is when it start you start reading something
37:00
you start affecting your real life. And then you start thinking like I'm fighting in real life
37:07
You yell literally, sometimes you're posting on social media, but in your mind you're yelling at somebody
37:12
That not good No and I was doing that way too much And when our last president was in office Right Yeah And it really affected me in a bad way And that why I basically got off of Facebook last last summer It because I realized just how much Facebook is contribute contributing to my anger Yeah And my frustration Right
37:40
so i compare this this is a something i compare i compare our body a human body
37:46
as a computer right yeah it's like no different if you think biological computer yeah it's more
37:53
complex and all that so whatever information you read you see you watch you listen it goes in our
38:00
brain brain start making the okay calculations start putting our program is running and then it
38:06
say it's bad good and all that right so it's important to filter out the bad information
38:12
especially that start running your computer so fast and start consuming your memory so you're
38:17
out of memory so you gotta figure this way out anything you read or you listen or you watch
38:24
that's making you mad angry frustrated you gotta stay out of that yeah or not do it all the time
38:31
It's not worth. Yeah, it's not worth. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So and okay, so there's a question for you for spending actually Simon says, what do
38:42
you think about YouTube membership that doesn't show ads on video? Is that reducing the revenue generated by creators
38:52
You only can answer that question. Actually membership is like a best way to do it
39:01
For example, I make videos on Bitcoin, blockchain technology, crypto and all those things
39:08
So some of like contributors, for example, if I want to predict the Bitcoin price
39:15
like tomorrow the Bitcoin can take this particular instance or something. and i can make like some plan you will get the early access or like i have some announcement and
39:26
i want to do like a some monetization because of like a with the help of monetization or with the
39:33
help of you can say membership i can make the plans like if you will pay me 200 rupees then you will
39:39
get the early access so something like i think uh membership is good but like everyone cannot afford
39:46
Yeah, definitely. But in the membership, I think 40% or 30% YouTube cut the money
39:54
I see. We need to learn more on that. We need to get more on that call. You need
39:59
help on that even from C-sharp corner side. So there's another question from
40:03
Abhishek and it's more like a comment that yes, social media thrives on
40:08
sensation. Yes, correct. And here's the thing, right? Yeah, here's the thing
40:14
anything that is hard to do okay and that is not really spicy our brain says yeah it's hard do you
40:23
really want to do that but if you look at all the people who are the successful people like
40:29
mvps all that they have made their habit that they don't they will work hard right so
40:36
and so that's one point i want to put here we can discuss this together and i want to see what
40:42
people think. Other point is that social media, it says social, right? And here's the funny thing
40:51
All social media platforms are created by people who are not social at all. They were nerds
40:59
How can you expect a nerd to create a social media platform? What do you think they would create
41:05
Yeah, look at Mark Zuckerberg. Every time I look at that guy, he looks like a pedophile
41:10
you know i just look at him and i'm just waiting to hear that they're going to arrest him right
41:15
we should not do that they're gonna are we gonna go to jail soon
41:19
but point is that a nerd who are never social in their life right they are creating social
41:28
media platforms that's why he created it yeah like he created social media so he can look at
41:34
girls and say who's hot, who's not because he could not find a real girlfriend in life
41:43
And now we expect these people to kind of control our lives. And that's what these platforms are
41:51
that's they what reflect. Social media is not social, if you want social life
41:57
you need to go in real because we are social people, humans are social animals
42:02
We need social interactions. We cannot be machines. So we have to, if you want to feel happy and satisfied for long term in your life, you have to find a real social life
42:13
Yeah, because if you're on social media, you're not really being social. That's a bad word, right
42:19
You're not being social on there, right? Unless you're on a group chat or something like that
42:23
But that's not socialista, you know? Yeah. Yeah. Social is in person, really, if you ask me about social
42:31
You're being anti-social when you're on a social media platform. Right? Yeah
42:37
And then other thing a lot of research are saying is that on social media
42:43
it's easy to say bad things to people when you are not in person
42:48
because they just did research on, you know, you don't look at them
42:53
you don't feel about them, there's no expressions, nothing. You can just post whatever
42:57
Right. and that's what kids are having problem at least in the u.s is that a lot of kids in high school
43:03
and younger kids they are posting stuff on social media they are mean and it's impacting other kids
43:08
who are in this kind of there's a lot of suicides happen because of that reason and facebook does
43:13
not share this information with anybody right and people are you know people i i saw you know i saw
43:20
this early this week on a show where this person talked about
43:26
their transgender friend came out and was being hounded by
43:37
transgender people on social media and she eventually committed suicide. It's because of social media
43:46
If social media wasn't there, it would have happened. Right. And so people are, you know, not only is all these things coming out now in America, at least about just how bad, you know, Instagram and social and Facebook is for for young women
44:01
Right. Yeah. It causes deaths. I mean, and I hate to say that, but, you know, it's that's the problem
44:10
Right. It's because people think that's real. Social media is not real. It's it's virtual. It's not. It's to me, it's kind of fake
44:17
It's definitely not real. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And to take everybody's opinion
44:22
And I mean, it's hard for anybody, especially introverts like ourselves. But, you know, when somebody flames us on social media, it's hard
44:29
It hard to deal with because we not used to it And and but but you right The problem one of the biggest problems with social media is it allows people to hide behind a firewall
44:42
and say whatever they want, right? Yeah. And I'm not limiting that to only social media
44:49
You know, I've heard horrible things happening on like, what's that site everybody shares a code on
44:59
GitHub, Reddit. No, Reddit. Stack Overflow. Stack Overflow. Yeah, Stack Overflow and Reddit
45:06
I mean, you know, men are being awful towards women on those things, right
45:10
So Stack Overflow, I noticed a long time ago. Yes, I'm not a Stack Overflow
45:16
I think I posted one thing on Amazon. I'm not on it either. Long, long time ago, I posted one thing
45:22
When I know, what I noticed there is that if you are a beginner, you are trying to just jump in
45:27
And you, like, I came from India. I you know I didn't know how to write good English if you by chance write something anything that not
45:34
professional they start come after you and they and this is there's a lot of young people they
45:41
got disappointed there because it's not it's not a community it's not really it's managed by a bunch
45:48
of nerds who want to show how great they are because they learn how to write coding programming
45:54
how to write algorithms that's not what make you a good person that's not what make you expert
46:00
because you learn a programming language and you know how to write code that makes you expert
46:05
i don't think so that's why our c-sharp corner we kept it totally separate our focus was
46:12
to figure out how we can help young people who really need help not the one who already
46:18
getting a lot of help if you're already getting help that's fine because you don't need help
46:23
people who don't have guidance, who need help, who don't even have money, right
46:28
That's the reason we created this platform, where if somebody learned from it and they have enough time
46:35
want to give back and help other people, that's the idea. And that's what real community is
46:41
Yeah, right. And so I want to ask this real quick because I haven't got any response from Facebook and Twitter
46:48
but you know i've i've i've asked all my followers on facebook and twitter if i delete my account
46:55
would you be sad if i delete my facebook account would you be upset and so far i haven't got any
47:00
reply back so no reply usually if there's no reply it means they don't care you can delete it
47:06
so at this point unless like somebody makes a comment in this chat you know at the end of this
47:12
month i'm deleting facebook completely and i'm going to be like you you know i'm not getting
47:17
anything out of it anyway. Right. Yeah. And I think, I mean, so Pushpinder is a perfect example
47:23
He uses social media the right way. Right. Okay. He is making as a business out of it. He's like
47:30
a big influencer in the crypto market. Right. And he has followers. So that's what you, if anybody's
47:37
trying to use social media, think of that. Is it going to help me in my somehow in my growth
47:44
making me income making me more money helping me learn more new things and that's then it's a
47:50
perfect use of social media yeah um Simon asked me a question like what's up with my Instagram
47:56
so I'll tell you my Instagram story um I joined Instagram because in America all high schools
48:05
they sports and all that everything happens on Instagram yeah all the sports athletes they are
48:11
on Instagram. So when my son is playing their team and their videos, everything is really uploaded
48:17
on Instagram. So that's why I'm there. So I can get up to date if he's scoring his highlights
48:25
And that's something I cannot give up. So I deleted my Instagram, but then I had to go back
48:31
because that's where school updates, where the schedule is, where the next game is. So even you
48:37
want to leave, you cannot leave. Yeah, there are situations like that. And even when my kids were
48:43
you know, teenagers, I joined things I really didn't really want to just so I could keep an
48:48
eye on them. Yeah, exactly. And so yeah, but you know, after, you know, after they became adults
48:55
you know, when I turned 18, then I didn't have to worry about that anymore. And I got off all that
48:58
stuff. Right? Yep. Yep. Yep. So that's where my Instagram story is. So yeah, I mean, we might say
49:06
that social media sucks but yes there there is a purpose when things like that you know like what
49:11
you're describing that you kind of have to do it um but just do it wisely and not get sucked into
49:18
it that's the problem it's it's just like a problem it's just like a drug it's just like cigarettes
49:23
all of a sudden you're knee deep into it and you don't even know it it's it's it's not i mean yeah
49:30
it's like drinking alcohol but alcohol is not even that addictive it's because the accessibility
49:35
right right it's not accessible to you 24 7 even if it is you can it will going to affect your body
49:42
also your social people if they say you start going to you know pub and start drinking every
49:48
day and night even your friends going to tell you and social media is just you and your phone
49:53
nobody can stop you right you can go in the bathroom you can do in the car you can do everywhere
49:58
so that's the biggest problem is accessibility and whenever you feel like bored oh let me look
50:04
at what's going on here yeah but the one thing i want to bring up and i don't know if everybody
50:09
knows this but um at least on the iphone and i would say um the other phones have the same
50:15
capability is that if you have a social media app on your phone and you and you want to limit your
50:21
time and and doing that is hard because they try to addict you right yeah but on the iphone at least
50:27
you can set up time limits on any app that at 30 minutes
50:31
like I have one social media app or two social media apps on my phone
50:36
And one of them I limit to 30 minutes a day. That's it. And it cuts me off at 30 minutes and then I go, okay, I'm done
50:44
You know, No, that's anything else. Puswinder, you want to plug in last before we close this down
50:52
your sound is not clear. So, you want to be a little closer
50:59
To highlight something. So, in the social media, actually, we can also use in the right way
51:05
something like this. Let's say I want customized feed. Customized feed in the sense
51:10
I want some .NET update as well. I want some news update. And I want also
51:15
I want to follow also Elon Musk to check whether he is reporting in the doggy coin or not
51:20
So, I have set my custom feed. Let's say some coin price is increasing, so I want to check that one
51:26
So I am right now connected directly to main source. So I am not believing like a third party media
51:32
So let's say like a proteinian prime minister announced something. So media will highlight in the like every length
51:39
Then first they will give you the click with title. After that we will click on that one
51:44
Then after that we will see 10, 20 ads. Then we will know actual what our PM said but with the help of directly following so we will get the within a few characters we will get all the information whatever we need
51:58
So this is some of the positive points that will be available
52:02
And if I compare Facebook, Insta, so Twitter is far better. So in Twitter
52:08
whenever you will report something, Twitter generally blocks that account. So this is some good point
52:15
And as well as in the COVID situation, I did help a lot of people directly because I am not in India
52:23
But with the help of white tweeting and white tweeting to ministers and all those
52:28
So, that is also good points. But bad points is everywhere. So, sometimes social media can also, right now, like a lot of good information
52:39
That's a very good point. We should do another show like how to make good use of social media
52:46
That's why we should have these tips. These are the things. This is good
52:51
Very good point, Puswendra. I agree. If you are smart enough to not get sucked into that
52:57
you can also... Social media is very useful. And you said, we are right here because of social media
53:03
You can arrange your own plans, you can do something like if you are an influencer, you can create your marketplace there
53:15
There are a lot of things. Sometimes what happens in the general life or in another way, we can not directly reach to very big people
53:24
With the help of social media, there are many ways. Right now I'm connected with some of like a very good programmer, some of Microsoft people or some of people like Scuse. So this is happening because of social media. If I do not Twitter, definitely people will not be able to connect
53:41
So, yeah. Now, here's the difference here is that successful people will always find a way to get successful because they know how to utilize their time effective way
53:56
The only problem is when these young guys, teenagers kiss, they are getting sucked into that
54:01
They don't focus on all the things you just said. They only focus on what my friend said, what their friend said, what kind of picture should I look at, what video should I watch
54:09
that's the problem problem is not us like we already know how to manage our lives and we have
54:16
things right but this is the problem is the next generation they are already if you look at the
54:21
kids i watched my son his friends and all that when you look at them 10 people's kids sitting
54:26
in the room all they are on the phones nobody's talking to each other they're texting each other
54:31
on the phone and chat what they're saying so the scientists here are saying that the next generation
54:39
will not even know how to effectively communicate yeah using voice they will only communicate through
54:45
apps that's the that's the bigger problem yeah and that's really that worries the worries me and
54:50
that's what we're worrying a lot of people well even when my even when my kids were teenagers
54:55
they didn't talk on the phone they just text it that now it's worse now it's worse it's worse now
55:00
right yeah so and um but so that's the point anyway it's going to affect their health it's
55:07
going to affect eyes because screen time and all that. With that said, guys, I think we took already
55:13
too much time. So with that, Puswender, thank you so much for coming. I know it was due. I'll bring
55:19
you again on some crypto and blockchain talks in future. I appreciate you coming and being available
55:25
all the time. And David, thank you so much. Any last thing you want to say in there
55:30
Yeah. The last thing I want to say real quick is, is, you know, my feeling, you know, at least, and I'm saying this as somebody who lives in America, but there's very little content, technical content I see on Facebook, right
55:47
Yeah. Most most of the technical content is being promoted, even by Microsoft is on Twitter
55:54
And so my my suggestion to all of you, if you don't have a Twitter account, you should get one, because to me, that's really where the technical content is, not Facebook
56:03
Twitter and LinkedIn are I. LinkedIn is also you can connect with professional people
56:09
send messages. And they don't exploit the algorithms how Instagram and Facebook are doing
56:18
They don't get involved in politics, right? They don't get involved in religion. Go ahead
56:24
One more thing. Twitter has one option. Let's say you are seeing some
56:30
information which you don't like. So you can click on that one. After that
56:35
they will not show you such kind of information. For example, some celebrity pick is coming and you are playing, I don't want to see this
56:43
So they ask for a small feedback. So once you click on that, then you will not see the input
56:49
This is one of the political points. In the setting also, one option is there, let's say some account is new, and you don't want to see that kind of tweet
56:59
So you can uncheck that option. So you can see potential tools
57:05
Twitter also ads very less. One ad
57:14
in a scroll kind of, yeah. Well, I was about to tell everybody this
57:20
I found this out the hard way. The only evil thing that Twitter does, right
57:25
and I know they do this because it happened to me, is
57:29
I started getting sick of their ads, right? So I started deleting the ads that I saw, you know, and you know what they did
57:38
They showed me more ads. I'm serious. And it took a couple of weeks for them to stop showing me so many ads
57:45
So don't delete the ads on Twitter because they'll show you more. Because they're trying to figure out which ad you like so they can then show you only those
57:53
Yeah. Good part is I'm searching for car now, electric car, and all ads I see is electric cars
57:59
And so good thing is I'm now learning more about new electric cars coming out
58:04
So anyway, yeah, I mean, end of the day, social media can be good and bad, but you have to figure out what works for you and what is useful
58:14
And that's the message here, you know, I don't think we can get rid of those
58:18
They are part of our lives now. So both of you, thank you so much for coming on this Friday
58:25
Enjoy your weekend and talk soon. OK, see you later. Thank you
