Huge Gas Pipeline Fire Erupts in Dagestan Neighborhood

Republic of Dagestan, Kizilyurt District. A major gas pipeline was depressurized between the settlement of Bavtugay and the village of Gelbakh near the Sulak River. According to preliminary information, the pipeline lost its integrity for unknown reasons, causing a powerful release of natural gas. The gas escaped into the atmosphere under high pressure for several minutes. The damage then expanded, and the jet of gas shooting upward reached nearby high-voltage power lines. As a result, a short circuit occurred, igniting the gas-air mixture. Intense flames were observed at the scene.
