Bee Bearding: Bees Hanging Outside The Hive At Night

When bees cluster outside the hive, it’s known as bearding. Bees beard when the hive is too hot and humid. Fewer bees inside improves ventilation and reduces the temperature - that's why they hang outside the hive in the shape of a beard.
