I'm at New Victory at Stage 42 and I'm about to watch White Gold to find out what it's all about. See you soon

White Gold is a show put on by the Cambodian Circus. Through art, acrobatics, dancing, and music, it tells how rice is important to the Cambodian people
0:37
It's a tribute to the people of Cambodia and their culture. The rice that they use in the show is called White Gold because it represents wealth
0:46
It was used to make a picture on the stage in the beginning. Then they used it to throw it at each other
0:56
They also had a little shower that came down and they danced around in it. They juggled it and they even swam in it
1:06
It was a whole stage of different people playing different instruments. Also, every little section was focused on an art piece that kind of helped you through the story
1:21
At the end, they put all the art pieces together in a frame, kind of like a puzzle
1:26
There was one piece missing, so they brought out the piece and then they completed the puzzle
1:31
My favorite circus act in the show was where a guy stood on four cans and bounced for a long time and kept it sturdy while it was wobbling a lot
1:42
I think that takes a lot of strength and practice, which I thought was really cool
1:49
My favorite act in White Gold was the rice shower act where they had a tarp filled with rice
1:57
It went all the way up and it had little tiny holes in it. All the rice went through the holes and it was like a shower
2:07
They were swimming in it, splashing each other with it. They were taking these baskets called jaggies and they were pushing it underneath it, the rice shower
2:20
They were pulling it out and throwing it up into the air. I think my favorite circus act is when they brought out a seesaw
2:29
One person stood on the part that was low and then one person stood on someone else's shoulders, jumped onto the other part, launched the other person in the air
2:43
Then they did a somersault and landed on another person. It was really cool
2:52
What White Gold taught me is that in the Cambodian culture, they bow to each other as a sign of respect
2:59
My great-grandma was born in Cambodia and it was nice to see her culture be represented
3:07
I think other kids would love White Gold because the lesson is wonderful and it's one that we don't hear all the time
3:15
Plus, it's told in a really fun and unique way. What I think kids will enjoy the show is because you get to experience the Cambodian culture and there's amazing stunts and acts
3:29
At the show, you can make a necklace where it has a teensy bit of rice in it and you can put a memory inside and wear it as a necklace
3:39
You can see White Gold off-Broadway at the new Victory Theatre. Check back later for more from Broadway World's Kid Critics
