Hello, I'm Richard Ridge for Broadway World
0:02
Mischief is back on Broadway with their latest Peter Pan Goes Wrong, and we're here on opening night
0:07
to celebrate with the First Nighters. ♪♪ Come on, then. Do you want to do an interview
0:13
That's what she came out here for today. Come on, do an interview. Come on
0:17
We're opening a show called Peter Pan on Broadway, and we're all happy about it
0:23
There seems to be, you know, no one's really turned up yet. I don't even know who's coming. Do you know
0:27
I have no idea. Who's coming? Oh, you have pictures in case you don't know
0:32
who the hell they are. Yeah. I wouldn't know any of these people
0:36
This is the lowest of the low. Not a single famous person
0:40
I have no idea who any of these people are. Do you know who any of these people are? No
0:44
Well, a lot of these people work on Broadway, on TV. That's why. You're not famous if you work on Broadway, are you? No
0:50
It's television and film. We both know that. Well, maybe looking at the photographs, is there someone you, from looking at the pictures
0:55
like, oh, I'd like to meet this person, or I'd like to see that person
1:01
No. Okay. That's fair enough. All right. See you later. How excited are you to be here tonight for this opening
1:07
It brings back memories, and I'm very excited because there's so many funny things
1:11
that happen during anybody's production of Peter Pan. And I haven't seen the show
1:17
I don't know what to expect, except that Neil Patrick Harris, I love him
1:22
He's going to be so great. But, no, I hope that it captures all the funny things
1:27
that has ever gone wrong with Peter Pan, because it should be
1:31
And it's childlike, and it's fun, and it's mischievous, and that's what's great
1:35
How excited are you to be here tonight? Come on. So much fun. So much fun. We all are lovers of the play that goes wrong
1:40
and now Pan goes wrong. Wait until you see this. If you fell in love with a play that goes wrong
1:45
wait until this. I can't wait. I can't wait. And I love the spin on stuff that we already know
1:50
because we all know what we're expecting tonight, but I guarantee it's not going to be anything
1:54
like what we will end up seeing tonight. Huge, huge fan of the Vicious Theatre Company
1:59
It's so excited to be here. I saw the play that goes wrong nine times. I paid my own money to see it
2:04
and I don't regret one single cent. I am so juiced, so excited
2:08
I have seen play that goes wrong three times, and I have watched their television show
2:12
and I've been waiting for this to come to Broadway for years. I cannot wait
2:16
I'm just so happy to be here. I am so excited. I saw a play that goes wrong
2:19
and just to have something else in that same vein is so exciting
2:23
And after all the videos that you see online of actual Peter Pan productions going wrong
2:28
I cannot wait to see what they've come up with. I'm thrilled. I haven't been in the theater much
2:32
since the pandemic hit. And the producer, Kevin McCollum, is an old friend
2:37
and he's like, do you want to laugh? I said, absolutely. I need to laugh. So I cannot wait to go in there
2:41
and just, like, unbuckle my belt and just let it rip. All right, buddy. Are you excited about the show tonight
2:48
What are you most excited about tonight? People falling down. People falling down. He's most excited
2:56
because he's a little comedian. I mean, there's nothing like watching this ensemble of people
3:00
do something so incredibly well, and comedy is hard, especially this type of comedy
3:06
And of course, Neil had two rehearsals and nailed it. This does not surprise me, but I have wanted to laugh extremely hard lately
3:12
and I think this is the night. Watching your husband work in this show, what that is
3:16
He's so good in this. It's a big part with, like, two days of rehearsal
3:21
Yeah, it's unbelievable. What's more crazy is the bruises on his body
3:25
He's just bruised from head to toe. But it's his thing. He loves doing physical comedy
3:31
and we've followed this company for a really long time, and we've loved watching the shows that they've put out
3:37
and the TV show that they put out. It's just great to have him be a part of it
3:41
and me getting to meet everybody because everybody is so great and cool
3:44
and we're like, oh, I've seen you in this or I've seen you in that. It's been awesome
3:48
So it's great to see him doing this, and he's been wanting to do this for a really long time
3:52
So it's good that we're both doing a show at the same time back on Broadway again
3:57
What? Is everything okay? Everything's fine. Why do people keep asking me that? Everything is absolutely fine
4:01
Well, we keep seeing you coming out. I want to make sure you're okay. No, I'm coming out to welcome people
4:06
and make everyone feel at ease, all right? And you keep asking me if I feel okay, and that's making me tense
4:10
That's making me not okay. Get backstage or in costume. You've done so much incredible stage work
4:16
What's the craziest thing that has ever gone wrong for you in a show? I peed on stage
4:21
Which show? Oh, a long time ago, Her First Roman. And I was wearing body makeup, brown body makeup
4:30
you know, that brashy stuff, and it went down my legs and streaked
4:34
and I was on a rake stage, so it rolled down to the orchestra pit
4:39
There was this zzzzing sting in the orchestra, and the little kid says, Peter, how do you do it
4:46
And I said, well, I don't know. You just think lovely wonderful thoughts, and up you go
4:51
Only I didn't. So it kept doing the sting, and he kept saying, how do you do it
4:56
I kept, so the fourth time, I said, oh, Jonathan, shut up. And I stopped the orchestra, and I said
5:02
you paid a lot of money to see this, so we're gonna get this flying going
5:06
And they got the wire unhooked, and we did it. I love chaos, and having been in several Broadway shows
5:15
which were chaotic, and especially opening, first time when playing a song, I was in a little car
5:24
and I almost got squashed against the thing. Oh, my God. And my first one, Apple Tree
5:31
Barbara Harris' change took two minutes. People were looking at their watch in the audience
5:37
and then when we finally got it down, it took 15 seconds
5:41
Okay, well, you see that finger right there? I broke that during Beauty and the Beast
5:46
I broke it during my number, Gaston. Front, center, spotlight, and it snapped
5:51
and I was like, I finished the number. However, you know the big metal mugs that you had to do
5:55
They clinked on it over and over and over. I had a broken pinky
5:59
and they kept on hitting it with a metal mug. That was awful, but I finished the number
6:03
Trevor, what's happening? I've got more people I'm talking to. I'll tell you what you are, mate
6:07
That is for sure. We're starting soon. Okay, I'll get my seat. You don't know, but I had to talk to her beforehand
6:12
You gotta talk? What do you need to say? Just promote the show. Say how good the show is
6:17
I'm honestly the biggest fan of this show. Yeah, why? Say it to the camera, not to me
6:21
I know it. I already told them. I said I... Say that all the actors are the best actors
6:27
in Broadway and Hollywood. Say that. All the actors are the best actors in Broadway and Hollywood
6:31
And it's gonna go so well. Five stars. It's gonna go so well. Five stars. Bye
6:36
Thank you. Now take your seat. Thank you. Now take your seat. Now go in there
6:41
You get in there. Fabulous
