Hello, I'm Richard Ridge for Broadway World
0:02
The stars are arriving to celebrate the return of Josh Gad and Andrew Reynolds in Gutenberg, The Musical
0:10
On the carpet again, my friend. It's happening. We're back. Tonight show's back in New York. I'm back in New York
0:15
I'm so excited to go see a Broadway show. I'm excited. We had Josh and Andrew on our show, and I said, you know, people are saying this is the Hamilton of its generation
0:23
And Josh said, that was me. So he's spreading that rumor that he's the best
0:28
So we had so much fun on the show, and they said it's just, it's off the rail, so I cannot wait to see this
0:33
But I mean, just being here, you're always on the carpet, you always celebrate Broadway, what that means to you
0:37
Well, I can't even tell you, like, what they do every single night, it's unfathomable to be
0:42
It's amazing to see the whole production from every single thing, from people giving out the tickets to the play bill, to every single thing that goes on in that thing
0:53
It's all well choreographed, and so many people working so hard in there. I just love it
0:57
It's such a treat to go see a play. Oh, look, they're tremendously talented guys, and so sweet
1:04
And, you know, have obviously this proven chemistry, as we saw in Book of Mormon
1:11
So I'm expecting, you know, the same kind of wonderful comedy. And also yeah they great singers great They do everything Great And just having laughter back on Broadway again This just sound like a hostage video
1:30
No, no, no. At this point. Never a hostage video. Not at all, not at all. You already did that one
1:34
The fact that they got me out of the house. Let me tell you. This is true love that I showed up for an opening
1:43
and I'm actually going to be in it. So you have worked with the director, Alex Timbers, before
1:48
What's it like being in the room? with Alex. Just amazing. I mean, he just creates such a safe, fun, creative environment
1:56
So it's like you're not afraid to fail. You just can throw the paint on the canvas
2:02
And he's so funny. Like he seems so conservative, but he's actually hilarious
2:07
And he will give us really great ideas for the comedy. Do you know what kind of time you were going to have tonight at the show
2:14
I am pretty sure I have an idea, but I don't think I quite viscerally
2:19
understand. I feel like I know a little about it, but nothing about it, and that's exciting to me
2:26
Because I feel like I'm going to constantly just be like, you know
2:30
You will have a smile on your face, and you will cackle or laugh or giggle whatever you do out loud
2:35
The whole audience will. That's the thing, that you have to make sure when you get a babysitter, that it's worth what you're doing
2:41
And this is 1,000%. I was like, bye, kids. See you later. Got to go. Yeah I beyond excited I just flew in from Los Angeles to see my buddies Josh and Andrew on stage again Something that I had the privilege to see hundreds of times in Book of Mormon standing on stage with them
2:56
But I know I'm going to be laughing and crying simultaneously the entire show, and I can't wait
3:00
What is it like working with them? Oh, it's a dream. It's truly a dream. Josh and Andrew are two of the funniest, most professional human beings I've ever gotten to work with, and I love them dearly
3:11
What was it like sharing this stage with them in Book of Mormon? Well, we were, all of us, Rory O'Malley is also here tonight
3:21
We were just in the beginnings of something. And it was really amazing to be a part of a show that big
3:28
but with people who were about to go on to turn into the big, huge stars that they are
3:34
And Josh really solidifying himself as a comedic genius. And Andrew really showing his comic side too and his unbelievable vulnerability is
3:44
It was a lot of fun. It was also very stressful. You absolutely never are totally sure that Josh is going to say the thing that you think he's supposed to say
3:56
How excited are you two to be here for the opening of Gutenberg? Love it
4:00
Love it. The opening of any Broadway show. First of all, it's so hard to put together
4:06
It so tenuous and so delicate that at any moment it could fall apart and the artists artist they stick together the producers they stick together they they handle all the problems that will come up not if they come up that do
4:22
come up and they and they manage and then you have josh and and andrew which is you know these two guys
4:29
we love these pros pros we know them and we love them and and we cannot see i cannot wait to see
4:36
what they do what about getting you onto the boards he he comes all the time. Look, I honestly, I talk
4:41
to, I mean, this guy obviously knows what he's doing on stage. I would, of course
4:47
love to be on Broadway. It's a dream of mine for sure. I just want to
4:53
get as much advice from this guy as possible. I would tackle it
4:57
with this guy, you know, obviously. Because then I'd be protected. He would hold me close
5:04
make sure I'm in good hands. What about if you're a character who's offstage
5:09
and never seen. Wow. But we talk about you. I could do it
5:14
We talk about you. I could do it. My presence is there. Never actually
5:18
It's like the man behind the curtain. Wizard of Oz. Yeah, that kind of. That's smart
5:22
That's smart. Okay. But I think we need to come up with a duo show
5:27
We're going to put it out there to the fans at Broadway World. To bring you both back. I would, yeah, what should it be
5:32
And no breaking bad kind of kind of thing. Something unique, something different, something interesting
5:36
Yeah, let's go it
