Hi ladies, how are you doing
0:02
Good, how are you? Good, I am so excited to speak with you today
0:05
I had so, so much fun watching this series. I thought it was so creative
0:09
so many great twists and turns. Starting off, I just want to ask the both of you
0:14
what made you say yes to this series? Honestly, the cast is to die for
0:19
I mean, it's like not only the cast, but the creatives as well in terms of Maya
0:24
Natasha, Chiraco. It's just kind of one of those things when it comes across your plate
0:28
you just say yes immediately, sort of out of sight, out of mind
0:34
And then I think starting to get to know what the series was actually tackling around mental health
0:39
and just the world of medicine and the medical field, it became like a really interesting story
0:46
that I feel like I haven't seen it anywhere. Yeah, that's saying from me, literally
0:53
Love it. Well, like you mentioned, I mean, I love that this series tackled some issues
0:57
like mental health. And I feel like I love watching the both of you
1:01
being able to blend in comedy, which is something you both do so well, with these serious topics like this
1:06
For you, what is it like to sort of play these characters where you get to balance them out
1:11
with these relatable topics, but also mixing in some humor? It's a lot of fun
1:15
It's for me is the way I talk. I'm the kind of person that's like, oh my gosh, I'm so depressed, girl
1:19
Could you believe it? Like I'm always going to be talking about the most weirdest, deepest stuff
1:24
but I feel like it's about being casual with it because everybody's dealing with this stuff
1:30
And I think that's what the show does so well is it humanizes, even though these are like so unique creatures
1:35
it humanizes all the things that we are all really dealing with and existing within our world
1:40
whether it be mental health, identity, corporations, ads, trying to be real
1:48
in sometimes a fake world. All those things are very real to anybody in today's life
1:54
You don't have to be in the second best hospital in the galaxy to know those topics
1:59
But when you put it in that way, I think it comes and hits you differently. And before you know it
2:03
you're arriving at this really kind of weighted place of, wow, that was a good way to bring up that topic
2:09
And it's a total testament to our show creator, Chiraco Dunlap as well
2:13
because I think her biggest vision for this show was that it was grounded and funny
2:18
but never so like off the rails that it was too hammy
2:23
She really wanted us to believe that these were doctors, that they take their work really seriously. Totally
2:29
Switching gears a little bit, we've seen you both in so many different mediums
2:33
film, TV, Broadway, which we love, but what do you guys enjoy the most
2:38
about hitting that recording booth and doing voiceover for animation? Maybe just focusing on the one sense
2:45
the talking, obviously hearing too, but just like when you're doing live action
2:51
there's so many other things that go into it from styling, wardrobe, your cast members
2:56
and glam and all that stuff. But when you're doing animation, it's just your voice
3:00
it's what you're hearing and how you're responding. And a lot of times you're not even responding to the actor that's actually playing the role
3:06
And so it really gives you a lot of free reign to kind of explore different aspects of your gift
3:11
in a way that you normally wouldn't. It really strengthens you. My personal favorite thing is when there's like
3:17
you've been doing one voice for a really long time, and then there's a crowd scene
3:21
and you get to just like do a totally random other voice
3:25
and just be like, and nobody will ever know, including yourself probably
3:30
but you just like get to get a weird voice out of your system. It's just like make yourself and the engineers laugh
3:38
Well, wrapping up, what do you hope people take away from this series
3:42
when they're watching it? It comes out on Prime Video. I really hope that people laugh
3:48
and are delighted by the world of the second best hospital in the galaxy
3:54
that they're titillated by the love triangles and that maybe they also feel less stigma
4:01
around certain types of anything that's happening with their body or their mind
4:06
and that they feel a little bit more acceptance around that. Yeah, I feel the same way
4:12
And just that they feel a little seen, you know what I mean? Even though again, this is like flamboyant
4:18
and ethereal world is still very, very real. So I hope they see themselves in this character
4:24
and appreciate again, our creator, Chiraco Dunlap, the world she created to talk about a lot of important things
4:32
in the safe space she created with this piece of art. Clock, are you meditating
4:37
Can I put this bomb next to you? That's the least stressful question I've been asked today
