That means a huge amount. It's been a long journey
0:05
I guess we started working on this in 2019 when Stephen Daldry first kind of started a conversation with us
0:10
about his idea to bring Stranger Things to the stage. And it's been a huge part of all of our lives ever since then
0:18
a continual conversation almost on a kind of weekly or daily basis, an hourly basis, obviously, as we got closer to it
0:23
So this is the end of a very long journey that we started just outside the Barrymore Theatre in 2019
0:31
And collaborating on this with so many different people working that you're collaborating with on this, what that meant to you
0:38
It means a huge lot. And it's, I mean, collaboration is normally, you know, is a fundamental part of making theatre
0:44
So it's the same for every show. but on this one we relied so heavily on each other to lean on each other
0:51
and for each department to have each other's backs and the baton passes from one department to another kind of seamlessly
0:59
It's hard to divide each moment into who's responsible for which task
1:05
because it's a collaborative game. And we were completely you know steered by the genius of Stephen Daldry and Justin Martin and Kate Tree Fry who would just kind of you know they would rework scenes make it connect and it was it was um it new writing on a ridiculously intense and complicated scale
1:28
so perhaps on a piece of new writing in a studio theater you can change three scenes and do it in
1:32
the afternoon and you know if the cast have time to learn it but on this scale with that many the
1:38
number of crew on stage a hugely talented crew that huge things are moving and the complexity of
1:43
video and light and sound and many other things. It's down to all the people involved, you know
1:50
and that includes the crew and stage management and the cast who are incredibly adept technically
1:58
as well as, you know, brilliant performers. What do you hope audiences take away with after seeing Stranger Things
2:03
They're kind of affected by it in a good way, though. I think there's a really strong narrative there
2:10
about, I mean, about good and evil, essentially, but about kind of friendship and relationships
2:16
And you hope that the large-scale technical moments also help to support the narrative of the kids
2:27
and of the parents and that you come away having got value from it as a story
2:32
as much as being scared to death, maybe. Thank you
