Oh, you have two
0:02
Yeah, well, you know, I have my old one from Newsies. Last time I was here in 2012, a bunch of people were wearing multiple pins
0:12
I was like, what's that about? Well, I've gotten multiple nominations. I was like, okay, Kathleen Marshall, you have five pins
0:19
And so I dusted it off from an old drawer and brought it with me
0:24
It looks just like the new one, just so you know. Yeah, they haven't updated it, which is great
0:28
you are nominated for your incredible performance i told you this opening night
0:33
i don't know where you go to create floyd collins but you just you're in that cave and you're like
0:41
stuck there you can't move but we see all the emotion come out of everything in your face
0:46
in your eyes into your soul where do you go uh i i think i am sort of forced to go to places that
0:57
I'm like really uncomfortable going to. Um, I don't have anything to hide behind. I'm just stuck
1:04
My face is straight out to the audience. I don't, I can't use movements or my hand or turn away
1:11
It's just like full open. And I don't know that I've ever allowed myself to be that in life or
1:19
on stage. Um, and so I'm going to, uh, some weird places that I have never been. And I think the
1:30
music specifically and, and also the, the dialogue in the show itself sort of unlocks those places
1:38
And you just have to sort of step through the door and trust them. And, um, you know, Floyd is
1:45
this eternal optimist even when he trapped It kind of magical to sort of see the world through
1:56
his lens um and then eventually everything just kind of goes blurry and and and you start sinking
2:04
and you start your body starts relaxing and every little bit of you just starts kind of like
2:10
coming inward and it's like I'm it's like I'm fading away a little bit you know
2:19
and once you give in to that there's like not really any going back
2:24
there seems to be a freedom with what Tina Landau has given all of you during this show
2:29
to just go wherever you need to go to do the material
2:34
yeah I think she's empowered us in a big way you know we
2:39
we did a lot of exercises early on like as a company to try to figure out
2:45
what the show is and what it means to each of us and what it means to each of our
2:49
characters and how do we get on the same story you know, how we get on the same game
2:55
board, you know, telling the same story playing the same game with one another and
2:59
and I think there's a lot of nuance in the script but there's a lot of nuance
3:07
left to the imagination and it's a big sort of like, yeah, yeah, yeah
3:13
It's a big yes game. And every once in a while there's like, no. And then it's like, yeah, yeah, yeah
3:18
I mean, there's so many things that I'm doing in the show that we've never talked about. She just never said no
3:24
And so I just kept going, which is kind of cool and exciting
3:28
but also like scary. It's like, is she going to say something? I'm doing this weird thing
3:31
and nobody's ever told me to stop doing it. So I'm going to just keep doing it
