Hello, I'm Richard Ridge for Broadway World. We're in the heart of Athena District
0:11
for the 36th annual Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS Flea Market and Grand Auction
0:16
And let's have a look. ♪
0:34
We have an incredible lot and incredible fans out here that are going to bid their highest
0:38
for these wonderful exclusive items only here at the Broadway Flea and Grand Auction
0:42
And every half hour we get new items, so keep coming back
0:47
This is amazing because, first of all, these crowds get bigger and bigger every year
0:51
And we're also seeing more diversity of who's coming from all over the world here
0:57
Not just because they're coming from all over the world, but they understand what Broadway is and they get this
1:02
This is incredible. It's my first year doing this. It's my first year on Broadway and this organization
1:06
does so much good that I didn't even know about. So the fact that I get to be a small part of it
1:10
is life changing for me. We have a bunch of show props that are all signed
1:14
by the four Tony Award nominees and our Tony Award winner, Jay Harrison, we love dearly
1:18
This is a ticket that we use every one in the ensemble touches it at some point
1:22
It's signed by Angie Schworer and Natasha Velt Williams. Our Minnie and Sue
1:25
We've got clothes and sheet music by Scott and Mark that are signed by the entire cast
1:30
and our director, Case Nicola. This is a candle from the Phantom of the Opera
1:35
This was an upstage Wright candle that was loaded in in 1988 and it left a few months ago
1:40
when we started the renovation on the Majestic. Theater history. This is theater history
1:44
You can't get this anywhere else and this is the last one. How much is this? $666
1:49
And it all goes to BCEFA. That is a candle from Phantom
1:54
We have lots from Phantom. We have part of the proscenium from Phantom
1:58
We have the stage lights from the Majestic. We have some signs from the side of the theater
2:02
We've got some real theater history. Come find it. We were actually, our whole company was part of the very first
2:08
event to start Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS. So to be back now after all these years
2:14
looking fabulous I may say, right? We would do pageants and David Scala
2:19
as Paige Turner was our hostess, and we started them downstairs. We did the Queen of Hearts and then the Easter Bonnet Pageant
2:27
and the next year we moved it up to the stage of the palace and we invited all the other shows in
2:32
And Paige was our host for that and she is our hostess, Master of Ceremonies today
2:37
for the Grand Auction in Times Square. The Grand Auction has various lots
2:42
and lots of fabulous memorabilia from La Cage. And also we are celebrating, like I said earlier
2:47
our 40th anniversary. So there's over 50 members of the original Broadway
2:52
West Coast, First National and Second National that have come to be a part of it
2:56
And we have lots of fun surprises for you. So I hope somebody will be around to see it

You never know who you're going to run into in Shubert Alley. Tell everybody who you are
3:04
I'm Michael Urie. Hi. And I'm Andy Shapiro. Let's talk about how glorious this day is already
3:09
Did you start signing already? I'm finished and I'm just... I can't leave
3:15
It's such a beautiful day. Everyone's so happy. This place makes everyone happy
3:20
This event makes everyone happy. You know, whether you are participating like I was
3:26
or whether you're giving money to meet people and get merchandise or sign things
3:31
you're supporting Broadway Cares. So it's a really special, beautiful day.
