Video: Broadway Stars Share What They're Grateful For This Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, without a doubt

And every Thanksgiving, I go to my parents' house and spend it with family

And that is the most important thing. My family and my friends are without a doubt the most important thing in my life

Oh, I'm just grateful to be in this position and to be able to do what I love

and do it with other people who love the craft and to be able to spread joy and more love

I'm grateful this Thanksgiving to be an artist at a time where we need a lot more connection

And I'm grateful for this art form. I'm grateful for musical theater to be able for folks to sit down in the audience and hear phenomenal music and hear an incredible story

Like, what a blessing. Oh, my gosh. My health, friends and family, my husband and my dog, theater

Yeah. I'm most grateful for my friends and the lessons that I've learned from my friendships

I think that probably true I most thankful for my husband I think the partnership I have with him you know doing a piece now that is and actually with Next to Normal as well that so much centered around in marriage it gives you time to think

about the people in your life. And I wouldn't be able to do any of what I do without my partner by my side

So, yeah, I'm grateful for my husband, David. I'm grateful for my family

I'm grateful for my health. I'm grateful that I get to do what I love and that I haven't had to, you know, get the

backup job just yet. Like I was my my lifelong dream was to be a working actor and that's still

happening. So I'm very very privileged and very proud of that. I am grateful for the writers that I've

looked up to I mean to are in this room right now, Lin-Arens and Stephen Flaherty who are just icons

and heroes to me and that they have been so generous to this next generation of writers and

offered me support and encouragement and tough love and feedback that I could not have written

stuff without. And so I'm feeling really grateful for the the generation. above me of writers. I'm grateful for perspective and I'm grateful for family and I'm grateful for

things that humble us and remind us that we are all in this together So yeah It going to sound like a soundbite but I am the most grateful and thankful for this opportunity to be working with Michael Mayer again for the third time in New York City I owe him so much

And to be realizing, you know, a dream of one of my favorite bands, the Abert Brothers, and working with John Logan, just this show, being able to be on stage again in New York City, it just, it does not get old

And I'm unbelievably thankful to be here. I am grateful for, we actually just moved out of Asheville

So I'm very grateful to have missed the devastation of that and also just feeling a lot of love and hope for the people there

I'm grateful for the hand I was dealt so that I get to keep working

You know, the big R word is foisted at people my age

and I don't have any interest in retiring in the foreseeable and I'm just blessed doing a play with people

I cannot admire more. And with a script that feels absolutely worth doing, and that's my gratitude point

The fact that I have a job the fact that I have my family the fact that we have health good health it simple but that is very much what I grateful for this year I am the most grateful and thankful for my family for my wife my son my daughter

for the sacrifices that they've made to allow me to do what I do. The thing I'm the most thankful for this season is science

because that's why Delia Ephra is alive. and I really believe in science and the miracle of medicine

And, you know, eight years ago she was given four months to live. And here we are, Broadway, opening night

So I'm thankful for science. I mean, family, right? I mean, how can you not be

And even just this family, this Broadway family, this is, I'm just so happy that we can be back here again, you know

That's a hard one. Yeah. And here's why. I mean, many reasons, but I spent a lot of thanksgivings with Gavin Creel

And it was on a Thanksgiving at our house about eight years ago that he grabbed me and pulled me into my garage
