You're a Tony nominee
0:08
What does this Tony nomination mean to you? I'm very excited for the recognition
0:12
It was very unexpected. I definitely didn't think it was, I wasn't even thinking about it
0:16
I was, I slept until like 11pm and my phone was like, my agents were like, call us
0:22
So I'm just very grateful, you know, and I'm very grateful that our show has been so well recognized. Yeah
0:28
What's made this show so special? You worked on some incredible projects, but what's so special about Hell's Kitchen
0:33
I mean, I think two things in particular. I mean, I think one, I think Alicia Keys, I think she is clearly, she's clearly a very
0:39
special individual and that, that luminance, excuse me, that luminous nature, I think that
0:45
has really kind of come through her to all of us as a, as a community over the years
0:50
So she, she brings a quality. I think there's just that. And also for me, the message of our show is that it takes a village, that takes a village
0:58
to raise us. And sometimes that can be hard to accept, that I can't give everything to the person
1:03
I love. I have to allow other people to give to the people I love too
1:07
And I have to allow them to give to me. And right now that, that message of kind of grace, forgiveness and acceptance is one that
1:15
we all really need, I think as a global community. And so I think that's resonating with people
1:20
There's this very fractious feeling time and I think we're, and the fear kind of pervades us
1:27
And so I think it's dispelling that. And I think that that's why it's resonating
1:31
And stopping the show each night in song that you do, sir, at that theater, what that means
1:35
to you? I don't know that I would call that a stop in the show. I think Shoshana stops the show a bit more in Pond It All
1:41
But I think, you know, that moment in particular with myself and Malia Joy Moon, Ali at the
1:48
piano, I do think it's, there is a coming together of a real synergy of all these disparate
1:54
elements that make our show. There is something that is kind of a capstone in that piece in a lot of respects
2:01
So it's very fantastic when the audience is so taken with it and then so let down in the
2:06
moments right after it with the hopes that that moment has given them
