0:16
Has this whole journey been wild for you and surreal? It's been so surreal. It's been thrilling. I mean, I got to make my Broadway debut with Friends
0:25
I feel so lucky and excited and grateful for this moment. Bringing this play to a whole new audience, especially a young audience, what that means to you
0:40
Yeah, that feels so essential. I mean, Lincoln Center is one of those few spaces in New York City where it is literally a plaza for art
0:48
And I wanted to break open the doors a little bit more to let the youth come in and feel invited to the party
0:54
And it was exciting to do that with a play as grand as The Skin of R.T
0:58
There are so many Broadway debuts in this classic piece. What does that mean to you
1:03
Yeah, so we have 19 actors who are making their Broadway debut, which is amazing
1:09
It's literally a gang of folks. And they've been so generous and wonderful
1:14
And I love them dearly because their newness brings a certain spirit and life to the project
1:21
So many of the designers are making their Broadway debut with this show
1:25
And so I feel like there's a level of vibrancy in entering into this new arena for the first time
1:31
It's like introducing the artists of tomorrow, right? Yeah, essentially it feels like a new vanguard kind of entering into this space
1:39
You get to wear Tony pins. I know! It's a Tony pin! I didn't even know they're so fancy! Magnetic! It matches everything
1:48
So just realizing how your production is touching people, especially a young audience, what that means to you
1:53
Yeah, I always get excited when young folks walk out of the theater vibrating, right
2:02
My experience of wanting to make theater that makes people feel alive is essentially why I do it
2:09
And so when folks walk out and they're talking about it and they're wrestling with it and they feel seen in the experience
2:15
that's been a wonderful journey to witness and experience
