Hi, my name is Sidney DuPont and I am with Paradise Square and I'm nominated for the role of Washington Henry
0:10
How incredible is it to say that you're nominated for a Tony Award? It doesn't feel real. I mean, every moment I'm reminding myself, pinching myself, trying to imagine that all of this is happening in real time
0:23
It's unlike anything I've ever, ever experienced in my life, truly. I just feel so grateful
0:29
I call this the little musical that could. I like so many people love this show. Audiences love this show
0:36
How does that feel when the audience is up on their feet before the show even ends? Yeah, you know, honestly, it is. It's unlike any other avenue, you know, television and film
0:45
You have to wait so much time. And so with theater, it's so incredible that you get to feel the audience
0:51
And being, you know, in COVID for two years, I just never thought I'd never thought I would miss it as much as I did
0:58
You know, it's a little drug that no one tells you about because you get to put a mirror up to the audience
1:05
And audience members are now being able to see themselves on the stage in such a real way
1:11
And although it's set in 1863, I think it has so much, so much relevance today
1:16
And I just love that the audiences are loving it as much as we do
1:20
What are you enjoying the most about being a part of this show? Oh, I enjoy my cast mates more than anything. I have my co-star AJ Shively with me
1:28
We're both being nominated and I just couldn't have it any any other way
1:32
I think that was just the dream part of the dream as well, because we both work so hard
1:36
And, you know, dancing and singing and acting at the same time is no joke
1:41
And, you know, during eight times a week, it's just it's a lot, but it's so worth it
1:47
And it's so worthy. And every time I get to speak to people after the show or DMs
1:52
even, I just I see how many people are inspired by the work. And so it's a thrill
