It is Tony Day, congratulations. Thank you. What does this nomination mean to you
0:15
It means a lot of things. It is my first, actually, Broadway project
0:21
so it's especially exciting to be recognized in such a way. It is also a project that has been quite special to me
0:31
and I've worked on for quite a long time, almost six years
0:35
and worked so intimately with the text and the playwright and the director
0:40
And so this being a combination of such long effort and experimentation
0:50
it's exciting and a little vindicating. The show is all sound. Yes
1:00
And then there's the brilliant performance by Deirdre O'Connell. I mean, it's just, whoever sat down and thought this whole thing up
1:06
I'm like, when you first heard this, what it was going to be, and you were brought in, like, what went through your mind
1:13
That I just have to sort of trust the process. I don't think any of us knew
1:20
How it will work, but there's a faith that something will come out of it
1:27
And so it was several years of just playing around, and the play has taken on so many kind of iterations
1:41
And what finally emerged when we first had an audience, when we understood this is an incredibly unique roller coaster ride
1:50
and then finally getting to work with Didi and watch that virtuosity
1:57
was incredible to film. So you're wearing a Tony pin. I am wearing a Tony pin
2:05
How cool is that? It is incredibly cool, and I never, I wasn't expecting it, to be honest
2:11
This was, I don't know if this was a major aspiration, but I am quite excited that I earned this pin on my turns
2:23
This is definitely a show I'm very, very proud of, and I am especially happy that it showcases the discipline of sound design
2:33
which I think is important, especially in the conversation around the Tony Awards
