Hi Broadway World! My name is Ari Durambach. I am currently playing Gully in English here at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego
0:07
and I'm going to ask my castmates a few questions about what their favorite classroom memories are
0:12
Okay, Pouya, can you please tell us your favorite classroom memory? My favorite classroom memory? I don't know. I was always the nerd in school, so it was indeed a burden to always be better than other people
0:25
but, you know, I've carried it with pride and grace. Uh-huh. That's beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing with us
0:32
Okay, Tara, it's your turn. What is your favorite classroom memory? I really liked being super popular in school. Yeah, I was just like super popular
0:42
No, kidding. I had some really amazing teachers in school. In the third grade, I had this teacher, Mr. Robinson
0:48
who was about to have a baby, and he would tell us every day about how his wife's pregnant and having a baby
0:52
and then on picture day, he quickly came and took the picture with us because his wife was having a baby
0:57
and it was just so exciting in third grade that Mr. Robinson had a baby, and now she's like a grown-up
1:03
Anyway, it's really cool. That's sweet. Thanks for sharing. Okay, Mary, what is your favorite classroom memory
1:09
That was a long time ago, but what I remember, I went to music school, and I think I was in fifth or sixth grade
1:18
and my subject was piano and ballet, and we had a kid who really liked me a lot, and he was sitting right behind me
1:25
and I used to have all these braids and all that and a huge ribbon and bozong, and he used to pull my hair
1:31
and then would sit very quietly, and I was just screaming and crying and complaining to the teacher, and nobody believed me
1:38
Wait, how old were you? I think I was like 10, and it was like I was so mad at him, and then once when he pulled
1:46
I grabbed his hand, and so anyway, and he was like sort of he got to go out of the class, and it was fun
1:55
Wait, should we ask Joe his favorite classroom memory? Joe! No! You overwhelmed him
2:02
He dropped his coffee. No, come on in. Okay, we have Joe here. We get to hear his favorite classroom memory. Are you ready
2:12
I guess I'm ready. Okay, whenever you're ready. Hello, my name is Joe. I went to an all-boys Catholic prep school, and one of my fondest memories in class
2:24
is that once over the loudspeaker, our principal said, attention everybody, there's a security situation in our parking lot
2:30
which meant that everybody in my high school at every floor of the high school went to the windows to look down at the parking lot
2:36
to see someone trying to steal a car, and our security team running and following them like chickens
2:41
and we watched a live version of Pac-Man where someone was trying to steal a vehicle
2:45
and then our principal came back in the loudspeaker and said, okay everybody, sit down, it's over
2:49
and that's my fondest high school memory. Wow. Okay, should I share mine? Can I
2:55
I don't know if this is my favorite, but I just think that it's one that deserves to be said
2:59
I was a theater kid in high school, and so we had a thespian initiation day, which was when you became a national honor thespian
3:07
or honor thespian or whatever, and it was our version of hazing, but since we were theater kids
3:13
we were never nice about it. You sang to each other? No, we went around the whole school belting theater songs, and it was really embarrassing
3:25
It's actually not a good memory at all. It was pretty traumatic
3:29
So it's also traumatizing, school memories. But it's fun for us to listen to it. But we had a great time. We were truly in our own world. We just went around the whole school crawling with..
3:38
It was really weird. We were just being theater kids. I don't know if that's my favorite memory, but that's what you're going to hear today
3:44
That's what they're going to know. Mary, do you have any final comments before we say goodbye to Broadway World
3:49
Well, the irony is that in 1981, I performed with a play called The Ass, which was a political play, in Old Globe
4:00
and all these years later, I'm coming back here, so it's an honor to be working with everyone here
4:04
Great team, great actors, great crew, and great management. We love it
4:10
Pouya, do you have anything to say? Well, I have loved being here at the Old Globe, and I've done this show multiple times before
4:18
but I have to say, doing this with these group of people in the round is something that you should definitely see
4:23
and it's a memory I will cherish always. Thanks, guys
