Oh, Floyd. Floyd's, Floyd is like a kid. He's in his late 30s, but he still lives with his parents. He never gotten any sort of relationships. All he wants to do is discover something new. And he has this childlike wonder, um, that is so infectious and so, um, endearing. And while he still sort of
0:29
closes people off and lives in his own bubble kind of world
0:34
What I love about it is that, I sort of connected to that
0:39
I tend to sort of like hide away a little bit. But at the same time
0:46
the second I stepped into Floyd's shoes in my first audition, I entered with that childlike wonder
0:53
and I think that's what Tina and I really connected to. And then watching that
1:00
slowly start to diminish as the show goes on, but then seeing him still kind of cling on to it
1:08
and then just how his ideas of who he's been changes throughout the show
1:14
I play Homer Collins, Floyd's younger brother, and I'm totally falling in love with him
1:19
He is the rebel of the family in a lot of ways You know this is a country family Homer loves going to the city He got this curiosity about life outside of where he from He Floyd best friend and soulmate kind of
1:30
And he's one of the leaders of the rescue mission. And I like to think of it as a coming-of-age story for him
1:35
He really grows up throughout the course of the show, watching what happens to his brother. And at the end, he makes some big decisions about what he wants for his future
1:42
I'm about to play Nellie Collins, who is the sister of Floyd, and I see so much of myself in her
1:49
She's so strong-willed and just, like, confident, and she just, she's not normal
1:58
She's so, like, in her own world, and it's really special to play her, because it's interesting
2:07
like, she's the only young woman in the show, and she has so many great ideas, and she
2:15
knows what she has to do and no one really ever takes her seriously
2:19
And I think that's interesting because I relate to that being in the music industry
2:25
And yeah, it's just, it's been really fun to play her. I just think she's so special
2:31
I play Miss Jane, who is the step-parent of the Collins children
2:36
And I think she's just pure love. She lost her husband in a cave accident
2:41
She understands what the family is going through. And they live day They live hand to mouth and I think this family is helping her surviving The children are beautiful and it hard But there a lot of love and commitment
2:56
And I play Lee Collins. I play, you know, the father of the Collins family. And what do I love about him? A lot. I, you know, what do I say? He's a complicated man in a complicated situation with a complicated family. And they're doing their best
3:13
I play Skeets Miller, who's a little teeny tiny cub reporter from the Louisville Courier Journal
3:18
who's been sent to investigate if this is a hoax or if this is real
3:21
because there have been lots of fake stories about men being trapped in the cave to try to get attention in this teeny tiny town
3:27
He's like a sad, weird, little lonely guy, as I am wont to play
3:34
He's really, really good in this. Hey, thanks. And it's been a real blast and a half
3:40
I play H.T. Carmichael. We're both kind of outsiders to the local sort of story
3:47
And I come in as an engineer, have a lot of ideas that are very, very different and in conflict with what the locals want to do
3:57
And so I'm sort of the villain of the piece. And then as you watch it, I think you kind of realize there really is no villain
4:05
Everybody's just trying to save this man. So I playing Jewel Estes who just a little Kentucky boy and I just feel so connected to him I from Kentucky I from like 20 minutes away from where this show takes place
4:19
And so I don't know. I mean, it just feels like I'm walking into home whenever I walk into this room
4:24
Like, it's so close to me. It's so personal. It's really, yeah, strong
4:29
Yeah, I play a character named B. Doyle, and he's the owner of the farm that Floyd gets stuck in a cave on
4:37
and I love his simple connection to the land and the people
4:43
and his sort of the cycles of his relationship to the land he's on
4:49
And I recently got to visit the farm that this took place in for real zies
4:54
And it was really magical to go visit the actual land and put my hands in the dirt
4:58
see the corn that was growing from it, and now bring it to this imaginal space
5:04
I play Ed Bishop, and he is the descendant of, Stephen Bishop, who is the founder, one of the main founders of Mammoth Cave in Kentucky
5:13
And I am, because my family is so well known for their expertise in caving, I am asked by
5:19
B. Doyle to come and help assist in getting Floyd out of the cave. And what I love about
5:25
Bishop is that he will do anything for people that are his family or that he considers his
5:31
family. And he will work all the way until the very end
