Get up and work, get up and work
0:32
Get off and work. You say one more word about me, and I'll get that gun of mine
0:37
And I'll change you from a rooster to a hen with one shot
0:42
It's so wonderful to play someone who celebrates being a woman and makes no apologies for it
0:51
I love that. I think it's so empowering. And it's an honor to play a role that Miss Dali Part
0:59
originated and and really is based on her life and to have her stamp of approval
1:05
I mean, can you really ask for anything for? I take this job and love it I a woman and proud of it This old gal is one of the boys
1:25
She's a full clambered, billions and amherous. This old gal is one of the boys
1:32
She is one of the boy. Yeah, she's one of the pilots with the boys
1:40
Before the sex in the city girls came along, people were who are identifying with these characters, you know, Violet and Judy and Dorley
1:48
So I love playing women like Violet, the women that you want on your team
1:53
you know, the strong woman with a heart that you fall in love with, that you want to root for
1:58
I just, I love it. Face the future, walk into it. Now that I'm unfettered and unbound
2:11
Get out and stay out I finally had enough Don't kiss me on your way out
2:20
It couldn't move me more You used me, abuse me, You cheated and you love
2:29
So get out and stay out I taking back my We not playing back my love We not playing Jane
2:42
We're not playing Lily and Dolly. These are fictional characters in a script
2:47
and as an actor, you want to bring something new to it. Now again, they're archetypes, so you know you can't pull too far away
2:53
But when Jane just, she held, I'll never forget it because it was such an important meeting for me
2:58
She held me by the way since she goes, you did justice to our role. And that just saying, look, I got chills, just saying our role for me makes such a difference
3:08
because she's allowing me to kind of take the shoes and run with them in a brand new vehicle
3:13
Oh dear, I can see why you feel shaky. Ladder of success is steep, but not if you hold on to me or I'll hold on to you, my sweet
3:31
You just try to be crazy. Mr. Hart, please, I am a married woman
3:38
And I'm a married fan. That's what makes this so perfect. You know, the great thing about doing a piece of music theater as opposed to a film is
3:45
is you can explore the emotions a little bit more because you're going to sing about them
3:49
So you have to get into the head and the heart of those characters So I think that we able to express certain feelings that the character has that you don get to express in the film You know especially the second act song always a woman
4:02
You know, and I love doing stuff like that, especially when it's not PC
4:08
I like stuff that's on the edge. I'm gonna shine like the sun when these clouds are away from my door
4:17
And I won't crawl like a run. I won't be after mercy
4:21
We'll be singing in loud We're so proud that we finally will shine
4:29
And when the loo' done, we're gonna shine Ready? Yeah, you are all gonna be sorry! Ready! Shine
4:39
Shine like the sun When the lion's all done, when the lion's all done, when the lion's all done
4:47
there'll be nothing of time. I've never done this before, and I did
4:51
know how I do and I got into it and I realized I kind of had a neck for it and that I really
4:56
enjoyed it and it gave me more freedom than writing for like records, you know, because
5:01
you can just write until you get said what you want to say and then they can cut them down
5:06
But it actually, I found it freeing and I love to tell stories anyway so it actually seems
5:12
like a natural thing for me to do and I might do some more of it
