Hey everyone and welcome to another Bite Size Review where I review a product in 90 seconds or less

Today we're reviewing Douglas Lang's Big Pete Christmas Edition. So this is a blended eyeless scotch whiskey that combines Ardbeg, Beaumont, Kalila, and Port Ellen
0:13
into one bottle at Cast Strength. I believe this is an annual release. This is the 2019 edition
0:18
I haven't heard anything about a 2020 version so if you know let me know in the comments below
0:22
but this is one from last year. It comes in this cute bottle. I love the touch of the topper up
0:26
here. It does mention that it's non-chill filtered and no artificial color, so that's a win already
0:31
Let's go ahead and open it up and see how it is. Yep, that's some big peat on the nose. Now, I'm not
0:35
familiar with all of these distilleries that went into this, but you guys know I am a fan of Ardbex
0:39
peat, so I'm hoping that shines through, but let's go ahead and give it a try. Cheers, guys

Oh, that's surprising. Actually, that's really complex. So this was $60. I don't know why I
0:50
lowered my standards because of that, but I'm really impressed by how interesting this is
0:54
Maybe I'm being influenced by the bottle, but I do get a little bit of peppermint at
0:58
the front of the palate, but then it develops into a really nicely balanced peat
1:02
This does remind me a bit of a Kalila, I think that kind of peat is standing out to me, but
1:06
there is some of the nice Ardbeg, some of that like smoked meat on the finish. But it's definitely none of that iodine, or what I call it, a burning hospital kind
1:12
of peat. It's actually really really pleasant, and I enjoy this quite a bit. For $60, I absolutely recommend this if you get your hands on it, I'm curious to try
1:19
2020's edition. So like I said, let me know if you've seen that. But until next time, this is Bourbon Bites, whiskey reviews with a gaming twist

I'm Clifton. Cheers and happy holidays
