Welcome to the next installment of the
0:15
ball podcast where we take a look at
0:18
Johnny McFarland and arrange to review
0:20
his selective outrage over Celtic fans.
0:24
I Brocks. This is quite interesting.
0:26
There should have been communication at
0:28
that point between stewards and police
0:29
that here it's uh overcrowded in this
0:32
stand and
0:33
>> Eric that that is such a huge point and
0:35
because everything that's been going on
0:38
no one's actually talking about this. I
0:40
agree with you. It's not been spoken
0:42
about, but like everything else in this
0:45
fallout, there's a lot of things it's
0:47
not been spoken about as far as the
0:48
Rangers fans are concerned. Namely, this
0:52
>> enters the psyche, a city that stands
0:55
amongst the global elite when it comes
0:58
to football Barbies. the past.
1:01
>> And listen, Celtic fans will be angry,
1:03
you know, as they always are about, you
1:04
know, if if you if you highlight
1:07
anything that they've done wrong, it'll
1:09
start the what about and listen,
1:11
everyone's everyone does it. So, this is
1:13
not me having a go at Celtic, right?
1:14
Because it happens at it happens a lot
1:17
with different clubs.
1:19
>> So, this is not a Celtic point.
1:22
>> Very interesting, Johnny. So, if it's
1:23
not a Celtic point, I'll assume you've
1:25
spoken about this before. Let's take a
1:28
look. See if you've discussed this kind
1:30
of thing on the Rangers review. Okay, so
1:32
here we go. We've got the Iberocks Chaos
1:35
Laid Bear as the ending knife of Pavier
1:38
and upcoming the game. Nothing about
1:42
overcrowding by other fans in Scotland.
1:45
Let's see who starts against Celtic.
1:49
Don't really know the pre-match show.
1:52
Avengers denied queer penalty app. Some
1:57
V conspiracy theories. Still nothing
1:59
about overcrowding by Scottish fans in
2:01
the week as all they won as a winner
2:04
bust against hearts. Think he went bust
2:07
long before the hearts game. Let's see.
2:10
Ibro's double header will show no fear
2:14
except the fact never turned up at all
2:17
in these Celtic games.
2:19
I'm still nothing about overlanding and
2:21
Scottish stadiums rolling transfers who
2:25
could leave this week. What changes
2:27
would you make for Dundee?
2:30
Very strange. Johnny still don't see
2:32
anything else about overcrowding. So
2:34
clearly is I see issue you've got
2:37
because don't see anything being spoken
2:39
about from the habine end.
2:42
No, definitely nothing there about
2:45
hearts. Nothing there about thistle.
2:48
Nothing there about any other team.
2:51
Classic deflection from Johnny McFallin
2:53
on the Rangers review is superb.
2:55
>> It's a it's a Scottish football problem
2:57
point. Overcrowding at stadiums is going
2:59
to lead to a disaster in Scottish
3:00
football.
3:01
>> Oh, you know what, Johnny? I completely
3:03
agree with you, but then did you ever
3:05
speak about this in your podcast before?
3:09
You ever finding Rangers
3:12
£5,000 for the blocking of passageways
3:14
inside a stadium? Nothing there said
3:17
about that before. Do you want any boy?
3:19
Nope.
3:19
>> Yep.
3:20
>> And it comes from this turnstyle
3:22
doubling up that that speak to any young
3:25
person that goes to a game and it
3:26
happens all the time. There's pictures
3:29
of
3:30
um the broom, right? Where there is not
3:34
a stairway in sight. That's probably
3:38
something that you need to show us
3:39
again, Johnny. But you know what? Guess
3:42
what? There's also pictures inside Hibs
3:44
with the Rangers fans or the home fans
3:47
sat with us there's not a stairway in
3:48
sight. Look at that right before the
3:51
penalties were taken. Not a single stay
3:54
away. Maybe the odd one at the top there
3:57
been nah. You keep continuing your rage
4:00
against Celtic pretending that you're
4:02
annoyed for the whole Scottish football
4:05
would really selective reported and it's
4:07
absolutely clear for everybody to see. I
4:11
do not know how that volume of Celtic
4:13
fans got in. That looks to me like
4:15
hundreds of extra hundreds, Derek.
4:18
>> Yeah,
4:18
>> we're not talking about that video where
4:20
it was like 30 people coming in. I could
4:22
I could flash up the the image, but
4:24
people will have seen it on Twitter.
4:26
There there is an image of that stand
4:28
where there is no space.
4:40
Notice it looks like um a a kind of old
4:43
style terracing
4:46
and you know people like setting set
4:48
setting off flares in there.
4:50
>> Wait wait wait wait wait. Was it only
4:52
Celtic supporters that were setting off
4:54
flares the Ibros during the Glasco
4:56
derby? I'm not too sure about that. But
4:59
I let's let's continue a selective rage
5:02
because if I remember correctly, both
5:04
sets of fans had flares and both sets of
5:06
fans were set up from both sets of fans
5:08
through them. Is that right? But don't
5:10
just take my word for it. Why don't we
5:11
take a we look back at the eyebox
5:13
footage and show Johnny who set failures
5:15
as well.
5:16
>> We know what this derby means and
5:18
nonsense.
5:19
>> This is really bitter stuff to see in
5:22
the end. [cheering]
5:24
>> This is nonsense.
5:28
Well, [cheering]
5:29
listen. This is You do not want to see
5:32
this. No, it really does shower.
5:34
>> You know that sort of thing. And and I'm
5:35
not Listen, Celtic fans will go, "People
5:37
were chucking flares in." Right. Forget
5:39
all that.
5:40
>> All right. Hold on. So, you want to make
5:42
an argument about Celtic fans chucking
5:44
flares, but now that argument doesn't
5:46
suit you want to forget all that. Sounds
5:49
a we bit like the what about that you
5:50
were trying to call out earlier on. And
5:52
I I'll draft. We can see it. And you
5:55
know what? It stinks.
5:57
>> I'm just talking about the fact that
6:00
overcrowding
6:02
>> caused one of the biggest disasters in
6:04
the history of football in this country.
6:07
>> H you're absolutely right. It did and it
6:09
was shameful and it was a disgrace. But
6:12
to simply call out Celtic fans for
6:14
overcrowding when you can see I mean
6:17
just fans blocking stairwells here by
6:19
overcrowding it's just it's just
6:22
laughable
6:23
>> and it's something that the authorities
6:24
have to take very seriously and could
6:26
affect anyone Rangers fan Celtic fan
6:28
Aberdine fan hearts fan you need to be
6:31
safe in a stadium and and very few
6:33
people are actually talking about the
6:35
this crushing and overcrowding
6:38
>> because they're focusing on the ugliness
6:40
of skirmishes on the pitch. get that.
6:42
But if you're talking about something
6:44
that could cause
6:46
death
6:48
um on a on a major scale, this
6:51
overcrowding [clears throat] issue is
6:52
absolutely enormous and no one seems to
6:55
want to address it.
6:56
>> Well, that's not strictly true, Johnny,
6:59
because the Celtic fans collective
7:00
called out the overcrowding that was
7:03
caused by police Scotland's handling of
7:04
the game. Let's take a look at their
7:06
tweet. Let's start first of all what
7:08
happened outside the stadium where a
7:10
large number of Celtic supporters are
7:11
funneled into restricted approach fruit.
7:15
There was dangerous overcrowding and
7:17
conditions many supporters said was
7:19
crushly conditions. These events ra
7:22
serious question about planning the
7:24
execution of the policing and crowd
7:26
management operation. Now, this is a
7:29
critique of the police, not of Rangers,
7:33
which is a shame because that's what
7:34
Johnny wants to do here and just
7:36
critique Celtic support, nor Rangers as
7:38
part in the whole operation. But we'll
7:40
continue on. Recent events little to
7:43
inspire confidence in police Scotland's
7:45
ability to design and implement such
7:47
plans. And that concern was only
7:49
compounded by what took place on Sunday
7:51
afternoon. Again, not pointing fingers
7:54
at rangers, but pointing fingers in the
7:57
direction of Pikipo that was responsible
7:59
for this mess up. But let's see. The
8:01
conditions experienced by thousands of
8:03
supporters of Ibros on Sunday cannot
8:05
happen again. It requires competent
8:08
planning and see if crowd management
8:10
attempts to explain Sunday's event so
8:12
way through the behavior of visiting
8:13
supporters ignore the reality of what
8:16
will kill them. And the most important
8:18
part of this is accountability for what
8:21
happened in Sunday is now required. No
8:24
fingerpointing, no point scoring, no
8:27
what about no blame. Thanks for watching
