Are You In A Codependent Relationship? | Chavi Bhargava Sharma x Bonobology
Jun 3, 2023
Does your life revolve around your partner? Do you find yourself constantly making sacrifices for them? These are examples of codependent behaviour! It is easy to mistake codependent for being adjusting but they are two entirely different things. Codependency can be dangerous and is not a good foundation for a healthy relationship.
Psychologist, Chavi Bhargava Sharma, shares some signs of a codependent relationship as well as what you can do to stop it. In the long run, codependency will lead you to constantly put your partner first and will cause feelings of resentment to start festering within you. There is bound to be an eventual eruption and could lead to a big fight and even a break-up. This is why it is important to identify codependency and stop it early in its tracks.
An important thing to remember about codependency is that it is made possible only by both members encouraging it. One might be a giver, but the other is also a taker. Therefore, it is both you and your partner that need to work on this together. Codependency recovery is not only possible but simple if you take one small step at a time.
