Loom is a free website and a free app that lets you quickly record and share videos
0:04
So you could record your computer screen, for example, with your webcam or without your webcam
0:10
and you could make all kinds of different adjustments to it. So you could trim that video
0:13
You could add captions, you could add a title, description, and you could easily share it privately, or you could share it with a public link too
0:21
And they just recently added some really useful AI tools too, that I'll cover in this video
0:25
Okay, so to access Loom, just go to loom.com. I'll link it below too, if you want to just click the link, come over here and press this
0:31
And I'll sign up for a brand new account, a completely free account, but I'll show you the difference between the paid and the free version
0:37
They do have a paid upgrade. And it may ask you a few questions here. Just go through the setup process after you type in an email
0:43
And there's going to be a couple of different ways you could actually use Loom to record your screen
0:48
The Chrome extension is useful if you're using Chrome. That is one option
0:52
They do have an independent app, and you could use it on a browser
0:56
These are all free options. I'm going to continue to the workspace for now
1:00
And here we are inside of our Loom application. I'm just under the library tab here
1:04
This is where all your Loom recording will appear. And we don't have any yet
1:08
I want to show you how to record your first one, how to edit it and how to share it
1:12
And then I'll show you exactly what other people see when you give them that link
1:16
And you have a homepage on the left side, and you could invite team members right here
1:20
If you click this, you could invite them to your workspace here
1:24
So if you're doing this with team members, this is a great way. And you could create a link and share it from here too
1:30
Now, let me also quickly show you the pricing option here. So the version we're covering in this video is this option, this free option
1:36
You get 25 videos per user, but your video limits is five minutes
1:41
So if you want to record longer videos, this one gives you unlimited recording
1:45
So that is one reason to upgrade. And if you record more than 25 videos per month, you could also upgrade for that reason
1:53
Okay, let's begin here. With recording our very first video. So on the very bottom here, you could press record a video and then it's going to give
2:01
you something that's going to pop up on screen, which looks like this over here
2:05
Now, let me walk you through some of these settings. So the first one that says full screen, click on that
2:09
This is going to record literally everything that's happening on your computer screen
2:14
Then you have window. This is just going to record whatever application you're using
2:18
The current tab, if you're on a browser. So this Chrome tab is going to get recorded
2:23
That's all that's going to get recorded. And I could just record my camera, which is going to be my webcam as well
2:29
And then over here, you could see if your camera is on or off
2:33
So you could select here and select your camera. I'm on a Mac here
2:37
So the FaceTime HD camera is what I could select. And in this case, I'm going to go ahead and turn it off
2:43
But if you do turn it on, you'll appear here in the corner. I'm just facing away from my computer right now
2:48
So I'll go ahead and turn it off. But if you really want good quality sound, this is one thing that's worth an upgrade
2:54
So typically your internal microphone on any computer or any laptop is not going to be that great
3:00
So I've upgraded to the microphone that sounds like this, what you're hearing
3:04
So this is a Shure MV7. This gives you really good professional quality sound, if that makes sense for you
3:12
So I'll give you some resources. I'll put a couple of mics in the description, including this one, if you want to check that out
3:18
And basically that plugs in through your USB and then it will be selectable here
3:23
You don't have to do anything specifically to get it to appear. And before we press record, you do have some effects option here
3:29
So if you want to, you could actually blur your background. This is a useful option or add some colors here to your video background
3:36
In this case, I have the video off. You could also blur here
3:40
That's going to blur a specific section of your screen, which is useful
3:44
So if I wanted to blur this section, for example, you could see it's blurred that section
3:49
So maybe my email was here. That way it won't appear. Okay. I'm going to press done for that to bring me back to this screen
3:55
So as you can see now that stays blurred. This is extremely useful
3:59
Usually you have to do this in the editing process and then you have canvases here
4:04
This basically creates an entirely different type of background for you. So if you want to be on this type of background, for example, I'll just show you this gradient background
4:12
This is going to become your background. And then again, this time I'll choose an avatar
4:17
So your avatar or your video will appear over here right now. I don't have an avatar image, but you can add an image too, instead of having a video
4:25
Okay. I'll close that tab. And all you need to do now, as soon as you have all these settings is press record
4:32
and it's going to do a countdown and this is fully editable. So until you share it, no one's going to see what you recorded
4:37
So I'm going to press record. In this case, I'll choose a window here and I'll press share
4:42
And it's going to do this countdown here, three, two, one, and now it's recording
4:46
So now I'm going to go back to the screen I want to share
4:50
So let's say I want to show people our website here and all the different AI type courses that
4:56
we have on here. So I could just click around. I'm just going to click around for a few seconds, just to show you exactly what's happening
5:02
On the bottom, you could see the total recording. So right now, 20 seconds has been recorded
5:08
And over here, if I want to blur any of the content, I still have that option
5:12
So if I select this text right here and I could blur it like that. Now I could resume the recording
5:17
So this is fantastic. That is available here as well. If I'm done, I'm going to press finish recording
5:23
So if I press finish, it's going to open up the video here inside of Loom
5:28
Now, let me show you exactly what's going on here. So you have your video
5:32
If you press play, I'm going to put it on mute here for a second. And you could see the recording actually has a Loom screen
5:38
So we do have to take care of that. But you could see everything I'm doing on the website is happening in real time
5:44
This highlighter, by the way, I have is not part of Loom. That's something else called Highlighter Pro
5:50
So I'm on a Mac here. I have that Highlighter Pro, which is a Mac application
5:54
Windows has something similar too. Okay. Now, before I share it, we do need to make some adjustments
6:00
So this is going to bring us to the editing process. So let me show you what is done so far
6:05
Down here, you have a summary that's generated by Loom AI. So there's this thing called Loom AI
6:11
It's in trial right now because this is a paid upgrade, but it's going to create an automatic title
6:16
So look on top, Exploring AI Courses on our website. It made that title
6:20
Typically, without this AI tool, you will have to manually create that. The summary here in this video, I'll walk you through the website and
6:27
showcase our AI courses on skilleap.ai. And as you could see, it's created that as well on its own
6:35
And it has an option for removing filler words with one click
6:38
I could remove silences and filler words. So really cool option over here with Loom AI
6:44
Again, I'll cover that in an upcoming video in more detail with a paid plan
6:48
And under the transcript tab, you could see the actual words here and you could correct the transcript as well
6:54
So let's go ahead and edit the video here. Go to the edit tab and go to this option, trim and stitch
7:00
Okay. This is going to open up a trim viewer here. It really wants me to upgrade to Loom AI. Okay
7:06
And this is fantastic because in the beginning of the video, if I go over here
7:09
remember I was showing the Loom screen. I definitely don't want to show the Loom screen here, right? Okay
7:14
I want to start right over here. So I'm going to pause it. And all I have to do is bring the beginning right over here
7:20
And I'll mark this the beginning of the video. Now, if I want to edit something in the middle here, all I have to do is go where
7:27
I want the edit to start, split here, and then I'll go a little bit further
7:32
And let's say I want to take out this little section here. I'll split it again. And then I'll select this middle section and press delete on my keyboard
7:38
And this section now is gone. So it's going to have this section without the beginning part that I cut out
7:43
This part is going to cut out this section and it's going to have the rest of this
7:47
And then the ending too, I'm going to bring that in. Maybe I want to end it over here too
7:53
And then again, make sure to press play, make sure everything sounds good
7:56
But this is extremely useful. You don't have to use any kind of editing app. Loom lets you edit anything you want
8:02
Again, you could delete any clips. You could even add clips too, if you want
8:05
And I just have to go up here and press save. And it's going to save my work now
8:09
Now, once the editing is done, all you have to do is come up over here and you have this link icon
8:14
This is just going to copy the link to the specific video. And you could also share it directly from here
8:20
Now sharing it, you could share it with people that are inside of your Loom account
8:24
If you want, you could get social links here and you could embed it on a website too
8:30
which is really nice. It has an embed code over here. Now here under the share link, there's this great privacy setting
8:36
Do you want anyone that gets a hold of that link to be able to view it
8:39
Or maybe it's more sensitive than that. And you need to only share it with people that you enter over here
8:45
You manually enter their email here and you share it that way. In this case, anyone with a link is fine
8:51
It's still not public. Someone has to have that link and I'm going to copy that link over here
8:56
And I'll go ahead and share it. Same options are true with embedding and social
9:00
You still could change that privacy option, but this is important to know
9:04
what privacy options you have available. Okay. Let me go ahead and paste that link here just to show you what someone else sees
9:11
when you share that link with them. This is the page they land on. I'm using an incognito window here just to show you someone without an account
9:18
No one's signed in. They don't have a Loom account. And this is what they see
9:22
So if they press play over here, it's going to play the video. Again, I have it on mute
9:27
This is also closed caption too. That is very nice. It just does this automatically through that auto transcription
9:34
Now down here, if they want to comment and if they want to leave any reactions here
9:38
they could do that, but it's going to give them a pop-up to sign up. If they want to share their name, I'm doing this in an incognito window
9:45
So I could just say anything I want. Again, you could see if I want to add my name to this comment
9:52
I'll have to actually create an account again for free. And they could also see the summary here
9:57
They could see the title here. They could see who created it. They could see when it was created
10:02
And they could also see the transcript over here. So they have access to all of that with that link
10:07
And if they click this little icon here, they could also download it, but that requires sign up as well
10:13
Now, if I go back to my account here and I refresh the page, you could see I had an anonymous comment at the 17 second mark
10:20
So wherever they were in the video where they left that comment, it shows that
10:23
So if I click this, it takes me exactly to the 17 second mark of the video
10:28
So this is great to get feedback, for example, about something I said
10:31
maybe that wasn't quite clear what I was talking about. That will take me to that point
10:36
You could see the views. So right here, any views that appear for the video, unique or total views will appear
10:43
comments and reactions too. I clicked thumbs up twice. Okay, let's click the three lines here
10:49
Let's go back to my library tab. And here you could see, I have two different videos, a test one I created
10:54
and the one we just created together in this video. So anytime you could, again, copy the link, you could share it with people
11:01
that are inside of your Loom account. You could press the three dots and make any type of adjustments
11:06
like downloading the video too, deleting the video, all available here. You could create folders to organize
11:12
cause this is going to get a little bit messy over time. And you could always start a new video and record a video from here
11:17
which is always on the very bottom. And the last thing I'll show you is if you press your profile icon here
11:23
the Chrome extension, again, if you're using Google Chrome as your browser
11:28
or the desktop and mobile app are going to be the next step. The Chrome extension I really like, I already have it installed
11:34
So I'll show you, if you go through the installation process, it will appear right on top
11:39
So you could always click it right here and that window will appear. The same one we went through with all the settings
11:44
So you don't have to always go to loom.com, sign in and do that. This Loom extension allows you to do it from anywhere
11:50
And you could always click away if you change your mind. That's your crash course in using Loom
11:55
If you want to use Loom AI, some of the functions that I showed you with Loom AI are really interesting
12:00
I'll go ahead and link that video below as soon as I make it. And I'll put it on screen here too
12:04
Thanks for watching. I'll see you next time
