Today I'm going to teach you how to record your iPhone screen with or without sound
0:03
The great thing with the iPhone, it comes with a built-in screen recorder, so it's really easy to enable and start recording your screen
0:08
There are a ton of uses for screen recording. So for example, my grandpa got an iPhone recently
0:12
He's in his 80s, not the greatest with technology, so if there's something he doesn't know how to do, I could just record my screen, going through step-by-step how to do it, send him
0:18
the video, and then fingers crossed, he'll be able to figure out and do it himself. There's no promises there, though
0:23
Also for our YouTube channel, we have a bunch of tutorials on how to create content for YouTube, how to create your channel, how to upload a video, how to edit a video, things
0:32
like that. And for all those videos, I record it with my camera and edit it and do all that from
0:37
my computer. So on all those videos, I get people leaving comments asking for help with how do I do
0:42
this on my phone. So I recently got an iPhone 12 mini and need to learn how to record my screens, so I thought
0:49
there might be other people that want to learn how to record their screen as well, so I thought I would create this tutorial
0:53
It's really, really easy. So all you need to do is obviously open up your phone, and you need to go to what's called
1:00
the control center. To get there, you basically go to the top right-hand corner and swipe down
1:05
This is the control center. So right now, there's a record button down below, the dot with a circle around it
1:10
To start recording, you just click that. It counts down three, two, one, and then turns red
1:15
And then now you can see what's on my screen. And then at the top left, you're going to see the red oval over the time, so you know
1:22
that your screen's being recorded. So now if I want to walk you through how to edit your videos with iMovie or how to
1:28
create a thumbnail with Canva, I could walk you through step-by-step on my phone, and you could follow along
1:32
If you don't have the screen recording in your control center, here's how you do it
1:37
Go to settings, then scroll down to control center. And then you'll see the included controls
1:42
So I have a flashlight, timer, calculator, camera, and screen recording. So all the things down below are in alphabetical order, so obviously the screen recording's
1:50
going to be further down. If I just wanted to delete this so you can see how to essentially edit, you see screen
1:57
recording, hit the plus sign, and then it's going to add it here
2:01
And then now you can basically go up to your control center
2:04
Here's your screen being recorded. So the other important thing is here is do you want the sound or not for this video
2:10
So instead of just tapping the record button, if you hold it down, this screen comes up
2:15
So this screen can come up if you're recording or if you're not recording
2:19
If you're not recording, you're not going to see the flashing red, and it'll say start recording instead of stop recording
2:24
And then so here you can choose where you want this to essentially be saved to
2:28
And then also do you want the microphone on or not? So if I were to turn the microphone off, so right now you're getting obviously the audio
2:35
from my microphone to the camera. Here if I turn this on, you can hear the microphone being recorded on my iPhone
2:42
I can turn it off again. So I can do this during recording, before recording, whatever
2:47
The thing is here is whatever settings you have set for your phone right now
2:51
So I have the microphone on as we're speaking. I'm going to stop this recording
2:56
And then all of a sudden if I were to want to do it again, and so if I go to screen recording
3:01
it's going to remember those settings for me. So if I swipe down, hit the record button, you can see the red record along the top
3:09
If I go back to the control center, hold this down, you see the microphone is on
3:13
So that's really all there is to it. So one really quick bonus tip that I forgot to mention earlier, while you're recording
3:18
your screen, you probably don't want to get phone calls, text messages, emails, or whatever
3:22
other notifications you might get. You can turn that off right here by turning on the do not disturb mode
3:28
