[Music] well welcome back to another edition of
0:25
Inside BBI with John and Eric i'm John McDev and with me with me with me as
0:30
always jesus here we go senior editor of Big Blue Interactive Mr eric Kennedy it's been a long day at work Eric i'm
0:36
sorry so uh here we are uh we are live uh we we don't normally do lives on
0:41
Mondays without something big and we actually have something big uh we have we have a guest who will be joining us here shortly and Bobby Skinner of Giants
0:47
Nation formerly of Talking Giants and uh but Eric we're getting closer and closer
0:53
things are starting to happen first off what what do you got in your glass bud because I'm going with a uh Sierra
0:58
Nevada pale ale handcrafted ale i got this here yeah I've got a Verest Gruner
1:05
pills from Germany it says it started brewing in 1436 so Wow nice
1:12
nice sort of fancy the wife picked it up so she knows we're doing this now so she knows I have to have some kind of
1:19
different beer each time so she's just going down the aisle picking it so it's a good way for me to get beer in the
1:24
budget more so so they they started they started brewing the last time the Giants were in the playoffs so anyway exactly
1:30
here we go so uh so what did you think let's let's just kind of quickly because
1:35
I know our guests will arrive right bar barring any unforeseen circumstances um
1:42
what do you think over the last couple days the the Colorado Pro Day became very interesting the Giants sent a very
1:48
large contingent to Colorado what what were your thoughts crazy because if you
1:54
talk if you saw the people that were on the ground they said it was nuts how many press people were there too so it
2:01
wasn't just the the the the 32 teams all 32 teams were represented but also just
2:07
the media coverage there so the people that were actually there said they've never seen anything like it for the
2:12
showcase is what they called it so um I've heard really mixed things you see
2:18
you know you see the you see the Twitter clips of him throwing the the long bombs
2:23
and then you hear other people pundits come on and say "Well
2:29
well we can Yeah we we'll go straight you know what we go straight yeah let's just go let's just bring let's just
2:34
bring a guest on we're going three wide three wide here so uh join us right now uh formally of
2:42
Talking Giants but more importantly of Giants Nation Mr bobby Skinner bobby thanks for joining us john McDev Eric
2:48
Kennedy welcome aboard Inside BBI well thank you guys for having me on um
2:54
you know I've kind of been new i'm I'm still fairly new to like the Giants online forum and stuff right i've always
2:59
been a Giants fan but never really and it was Big Blue Interactive was a huge
3:04
part of uh you know growing talking Giants because the O line reports would get posted on there i used to check I'd
3:10
put out like a video I was proud of and then I'd like refresh BBI like "All right someone needs to post it someone needs to post it." So uh I appreciate
3:17
you guys oh yeah we always got pe somebody's always posting in the forum the link to your show so the here's
3:23
Bobby's new breakdown on Shane Lemieux or whoever you were covering at the time so it's pretty awesome so and it's also
3:30
neat is when I'm going through YouTube we have the YouTube's hooked up to our main TV in our in our family room your
3:36
stuff is always coming up on and I have to explain to my wife well let me just see this breakdown and she's like ah so
3:44
it's it's pretty cool i'm brand new i'm I'm I'm also brand new to the you using YouTube on my TV i held off for as long
3:51
as possible and now it's you know it's basically like the only thing I watch on my TV now yeah yeah nice nice so we real
3:58
quick because I mean a lot of changes for you obviously um and and you've you've talked about it um so we I'm I'm
4:06
gonna leave the door open to any direction you want to go with that or if we're just going to talk Giants but one thing I wanted to ask you you had a you
4:12
did a video a few months ago specifically about what you thought the Giants should do in terms of the
4:19
coaching staff the GM specifically and that got a lot of attention and it just
4:24
seemed like the Giants weren't very happy with it either since that time though the moves the Giants have made
4:30
they kept the GM the moves that they've made what What are your thoughts on the on free agency where the Giants went and
4:36
how that is going to impact the upcoming draft so I feel like you know like when they
4:42
got kept right it was it turned into not just what they had done over three years but it's like all right what are they
4:47
going to do this year because the seat is hot right John Mayer if the seat would have already been hot but John Mayer made it ex extraordinarily hot by
4:54
his end of season press conference um and then the no hail Marys line came out of Joe Shane I actually think when you
5:01
look at the free agency it was reasonable right now here's the thing is
5:06
I think they kind of backed into being more reasonable with the quarterback position because they were all in on Stafford i mean you guys you guys knew
5:12
that i'm I'm sure you guys talked to some of the same people as me they they weren't just in on Stafford they
5:18
believed Matthew Stafford was going to be their quarterback they thought it was like they were very confident it was
5:23
going to happen and then waiting on Rogers which I was in on Rogers until I realized this is just
5:29
Rogers where again like he still hasn't signed with the Steelers you know he's working out with DK Medaf but like still
5:35
not signing um and I think a Russell Jamus combo is like the smartest
5:42
decision uh for them at least going into the draft and then you look at their free agent moves i like Paul Sanivo i
5:49
like that devon Holland I think is someone needs to improve to play up to what was kind of viewed as coming out
5:55
but again a solid player not a not a gigantic deal um and then just like you
6:01
regular type of contracts not going crazy um the issue though is I agree with that but I don't think that this
6:08
roster is smart moves away from competing so even though I am
6:13
appreciative of that as a person who will be here long after Joe Shane um I
6:18
do I do still like worry about once the games start happening like this being a team that loses more games than the wins
6:25
especially with the like I think they have the hardest schedule in the NFL this year great that's a we're looking forward to
6:32
that they could improve and still win like six games which is like is that enough after four years it shouldn't be
6:38
you know right right how surprised were you when the Giants resigned Darius Sllayton though
6:46
surprised because everyone told me that it was not going to happen um but I was actually again another move I liked
6:52
bringing back i didn't I didn't want to create a new hole on the team and that's what have you know what would have you
6:59
like this is my counter to anyone who didn't want to keep Slayton and especially at that deal right I think we
7:04
all thought he had a bigger contract than that is you let Darius Sllayton walk he's not a perfect player he's not
7:11
your number one you have Juan Dale Robinson in the slot but how do you fill that second outside wide receiver role
7:16
because it it's it's a pretty important position and I I especially if you're bringing in a you know a new quarterback
7:22
like they'd like to have that second wide receiver that they trust um the options were just kind of not there
7:28
right in free agency they shouldn't have they weren't going to go be the big spenders and then the middle tier Darius
7:34
Sllayton was the best of that bunch and then I I didn't want them backed into a a hole where they felt like they needed
7:39
to draft one with that second round or early third round pick so I like bringing that back um I think Sllayton
7:46
will he's just someone who will bounce between overrated and underrated within the fan base you know when he's dropping
7:52
passes he's going to be underrated when he has a year like 2023 where he didn't drop any passes then he gets a little
7:58
overrated right but just a solid player that I think is valuable for any quarterback compared to just trying to
8:05
fill it with whatever they else they could well it'll be nice to see how what these guys they have at wide receiver
8:11
and tight end can do with a quarterback so again I don't want to turn this into a Daniel Jones bashing show but the fact
8:18
that Daniel Jones has been the quarterback for the last six years with other backups playing as well too john
8:24
and I have talked about this before how good are some of the players that we have we don't really know still because
8:31
the quarterback can't always get them the ball at least can't get them the ball with in stride and do damage after
8:37
the catch so for instance you know they a lot of people look at the Colts game which is a little bit dangerous cuz the
8:43
Colts didn't come to play that day but you saw what happened what can happen if the quarterback can get the ball to the
8:49
wide receivers in stride and doing yards after the catch damage so some of us are
8:54
thinking about we'd like to see what Juan Dale can do we can like to see what Jaylen Hayatt can do Darius Sllayton can do and so forth with a quarterback that
9:01
can get them the ball so and I think Sllayton I think Sllayton is the one who will benefit the most right uh at least
9:08
with the quarterbacks they have on the roster right now because Neighbors is going to have big numbers no matter what right um you know we're talking about a
9:14
difference between a 1300 RC season or a 15 like he's going to be have wide receiver numbers these specific
9:21
quarterback Russell's usage is going to go down it's not a great fit there so Sllayton should
9:27
go up um you know especially with the way those guys attack down the field and Sllayton is someone who can win at all
9:33
three levels um so I think Sllayton is the one who benefits the most from these quarterbacks now if they draft Shore
9:40
Juan Dale's usage you know maybe doesn't go to the same thing it was last year but it certainly goes up but I think
9:46
Clayton is the one that benefits the most out of you know out anyone for these specific quarterbacks yeah it's
9:53
the it's the Wandell one that that does concern me a little bit i mean it's not Winston's forte it's not Wilson's forte
10:00
they're they're down the field guys they're they're the you know the moon ball or the or more of a gunshot whereas
10:06
Wandell needs to be hit and stride short stuff pick stuff up so that he may suffer thoughts on Jaylen Hayyatt is
10:12
this his really his last chance to show something and again a lot of it is on his still on how he plays but now at
10:18
least if you can send him streaking you've got quarterbacks that can throw him the ball yeah I'm not a big Hyatt
10:23
fan um I just I think he can run one route and if he's and when you have a
10:29
guy like Malik Neighbors you're not going to put him on the front side of reads and you can't put him on the backside for any other routes than go
10:35
balls so it's just he's not that much of a useful player except for with Russell Wilson russell Wilson increases his
10:41
value some doesn't make him a starting level wide receiver right but I think Russ is actually like the best quarterback you know in the NFL for
10:49
Jaylen H because he throws so much on the outside vertically right it's not even over the middle stuff like it's
10:55
just outside vertical and that gives high value now unfortunately I think that value is topped out as a 500 yard
11:02
receiver and that's being uh you know a little generous with the roster that they have so I think Hyatt was just not
11:09
a I don't think he's a good wide receiver but he does have that speed that allows him to have a big game here
11:14
or there and I think Russ is the quarterback who who helps utilize that the best right so I want to You're the
11:22
offensive line guy and that's that's that's your area of expertise i think you played offensive line in college is
11:28
that correct yeah yeah yeah so one of the problems things I'm struggling with
11:34
is Evan Neil he comes out of the draft at SEC four-year starter played right
11:41
tackle guard and left tackle every consensus top 10 pick some
11:47
people even had him in the top five some even had him in the as the first overall pick to me it is one of the biggest and
11:54
I've followed the draft for 30 years it's one of the biggest headscratchers to me that Evan Neil can't even play at
12:01
a um just ordinary starter level right tackle it's just I I still can't wrap my
12:08
my my head around that he's been this bad and I know injuries have played a
12:13
factor i know you watched a lot of the offensive line in particular you in your breakdowns what are you seeing with Evan
12:20
Neil i mean we you know we we see the issues with in pass protection but it just you didn't see that complete lack
12:28
of coordination when he was in the SEC against some really good good um pass rushers well he looked awesome in
12:36
college the biggest knock though was the balance and I think I you know was someone who wanted Evan Neil um and it
12:43
taught me do not overlook balance right because sometimes we you know we do like we look at guys in the draft like oh
12:48
like this like this like this but this is bad hey all this other good stuff and we say oh let's work with the good i the
12:55
more and more I've done draft stuff the more I'm like you know what bad stuff matters it can stop you from getting on the field and I think his balance is
13:02
just such an issue and then his foot speed is you know like it's not amazing
13:09
with that size and that balance and just great pass rushers are able to take advantage of that consistently and then
13:15
when that happens a couple times I his confidence is tackle is a big time confidence position um and then that
13:22
gets shot and it's just a guy who's not out for a tackle and I know he gets
13:28
graded a little higher in the run game i think I think there's technique issues in the run game that show up uh the bad
13:34
balance shows up you work him on a combo or he gets hands on a guy and gets some movement it it looks really good but I
13:41
think with Neil I learned don't overlook balance right um if anything it's it's one of the most important things for a
13:47
guy who's 6'7 right just because you got bad balance at that size i mean you're like a you know a tower looking to be
13:54
toppled over now if you were calling the shots would you move him to guard yeah not because I'm sitting here saying
14:01
it's gonna fix him or whatever but it's at least worth a shot right i would move him i would move him to guard in camp i
14:08
would see how camp played out preseason and if it didn't look good right and I'm
14:14
not talking about like oh there's some good moments here if it if it if if it didn't look like it was actually going
14:20
to be salvaged I would look to do one of those end of camp pick swap trades if I'm not liking what I'm seeing right um
14:27
you know it's unfortunate because he's the seventh overall and maybe Evan Neil can get to a point where he is a backup
14:32
guard or a backup tackle but as the seventh overall pick you're never going to be as a New York Giant like it's just
14:38
you you're not going to resign your seventh overall pick to be a swing tackle he's going to go elsewhere so I
14:44
would again try a guard see how camping preseason goes if you like it try it if
14:49
you don't look to get whatever you could back for for the asset it's just a darn shame because if you could plug him in
14:56
at right guard and you knew he could play at a high level that takes off a
15:02
major need going into this draft but the problem is the Giants don't even know if he can handle guard and that's one of
15:08
the tragedies about him again part of this was he was hurt coming into the year didn't play until mid the midway
15:14
point and wasn't getting the practice snaps but we came out of last year not even knowing if Evan Neil can handle
15:20
guard so we got to handle free agency which they did like they can't assume he can handle guard and we'll probably have
15:26
to go into the draft thinking we might have to get a right guard yeah i wish after that preseason game against the
15:32
Jets they said "All right tackle's done spend spend a year practicing at court." And they didn't and obviously started
15:38
games at right tackle towards the end of the year but I thought they'd do a good job of trying to hide him um so I wish
15:44
they would have tried that but even like like you said you move him and address
15:50
it in the draft if you see the guy right like I just did a draft to Jordan 70 from Arizona and guess what john Renan's
15:56
deal is cutable after the year greg Van Roen's on a one-year deal right i think you he looks good and you like what the
16:03
rookie is you know you know may maybe the maybe the rookie sits for an extra
16:08
year right that's not the worst thing in the world is to have a depth um or hey John Renion gets injured and doesn't
16:14
look as good then that's a guy you can cut and then you have you know that rookie and Evan Neil starting the card
16:20
um so again I I I'm at but I'm at the point now with Evan Neil it's just try things just just try something different
16:25
than tackle because again even if he gets to a swing tackle level that's never going to be the long-term plan for
16:31
him with the defense yeah the wor the worst thing the worst thing that happened with Evan Neil
16:36
beyond the fact that he the balance issues that we all see is then he had the lower body injuries you've already
16:42
got a problem with your balance then you add the lower body injuries he's just not a guy you can count on out on an island you surprised those that the
16:49
Giants continually tried to force Josu out at tackle over and over and over again when clearly he just was not the
16:57
guy to be out there so if you listen to um Talking Giants
17:02
last summer right you know draft is over rookie camp ends and then OTAA's popup
17:07
and Joshua is working at tackle that became the every interview we did we're like are like why is Joshua playing
17:14
tackle they didn't play tackle at least I'm not sitting here saying oh he's going to work at guard but why why
17:21
aren't we even practicing him at guard we've seen tackle doesn't isn't going to work right like try him at guard right
17:27
that's what you you drafted him 67th overall like we talk about JMSs not being up to it is I think JMSs is at
17:33
least a starting level player azuda was taken 10 slots later um in the previous
17:38
draft like that's basically you know the same range of draft pick between those
17:44
guys and try him at guard and they were just insistent he's a tackle he's a tackle he's a tackle they play him one
17:50
game and then they bench him for Chris Hubard who had they you know off the 49ers crack squad a week before um I
17:56
think he's just he's not even in my mind anymore but I I spent all summer last year being like I think this is really
18:03
dumb but it made me feel dumb though because I'm like what am I not seeing like why are they so insistent on it and
18:10
then you saw that they pulled the plug on it immediately immediately and you wonder if they've wrecked his confidence
18:16
too so I I wish they had just left him at guard yeah leave him at guard he
18:22
wouldn't have had to play until late in the season right because Renan stay and Van Roten stayed fairly healthy until
18:27
Ren like and then you could have seen him like let him spend a whole year developing and not having to worry about
18:33
planning for the opponent but just working on his craft and then you would got a nice little four game sample size at the end of the year of him working at
18:39
guard instead he's just a totally wasted asset and I I would be shocked if he's
18:44
not released at the end of you know and the weird thing is is they did it under two different offensive line coaches so
18:51
you could say you know you could you can't blame one guy on this So I kind of sometimes I wonder is this even coming
18:56
from above the offensive line is is Brian Dable involved in that decision because it because it just seems so odd
19:03
it just seems so out of place and so does the decision not to start moving Evan Neil over to guard it seems like
19:10
they're just being being um stubborn here's what led to it is the lack of
19:16
desire to take swing tackle seriously because we forget like cuz Jermaine Elenor played right tackle and he was good at it they should another thing I
19:24
spent all offseason I was like I do not like Elmanor just being a guard like let him and Evan Neil battle for that job
19:30
why are we just guaranteeing him starting like if if Evan Neil is good in the first two weeks of training camp
19:36
then you can move Elor to guard he's the vet he's done it before instead they all offseason he didn't get a single tackle
19:43
snap and day one of training camp evan Neil's not ready and now all of a sudden
19:48
like it was like a blessing in disguise in a sense that Neil would not be ready because they just moved Elanor to tackle and kicked him out there i always
19:54
thought that that should have been a battle between the two and then if if Neil surprises you great move Elmanor to
20:00
guard um instead they kind of banked on Neil being healthy and good and and neither one happened there's a weird we
20:08
and I I said it a while ago Eric and I during one of our shows during the season there's a weird uh organizational
20:15
arrogance about some of the things that they do where they just double down on it to prove a point almost even the idea
20:22
of we don't want to move too many people around when you were really at that point you had no left tackle aluminar
20:28
made the most sense to put the guy you got to protect the backside of your quarterback i'm okay if you have to kind
20:33
of rotate somebody else at right tackle i'm worried about the left side you're like "Nah we'll just keep throwing somebody else out there and then they
20:39
finally did make the switch." But there's an organization and John said that at the time you said before before
20:45
they put a Zudo out there you you said "What the hell are they doing just move aluminum out there." And then that one
20:51
that lasted a week yeah it's it's it's a weird thing how they doubled down on it over and over and over again so I saw
20:58
some of the things that you've been posting so let's talk about the coming draft so we know who we've got we know
21:04
now you know where we're at and kind of what's going to happen above us we think Tennessee is going to go Ward that seems to be what's happening assuming the
21:11
Giants don't trade up cleveland's the question mark the two guys that seem to be main mainly in question Hunter Carter
21:18
which one do you prefer falls to the Giants and if he does fall do they take him whichever one of the two over
21:26
Sanders there i prefer Abdul Carter uh I just think he's better at what he does versus
21:33
Carter on each side now if if Carter can truly play both sides and play
21:39
consistently then yeah he's a more valuable piece but I just that's going to be really hard to do and even if he
21:45
does it early how long does he do it um and it's not a knock on Carter or sorry not a knock on Hunter yeah uh it's just
21:53
I think Abdul Carter is awesome and he plays a position that I value a little
21:58
more and I just think he's a better player so I'm not getting stressed out on that um too much either so I just
22:04
think he's a better player and I would love right you know I I've seen people
22:10
talk about if there's one fan base who should be totally in on just drafting a pass rusher even if it's not your
22:15
biggest need it's the Giants like we've done it twice right tuck being added to Trey Han and OC JP being added to Tuck
22:22
and Oce like it it works um and it doesn't win you a Super Bowl just having
22:29
a nice pass rush but it is something that it's the ultimate great quarterback stopper right like anytime you see a
22:35
great quarterback lose the Super Bowl it's usually because that pass rush is just getting home so you need that
22:41
franchise quarterback to get to that but that pass is the thing that you pair
22:46
with that franchise QB to start winning Super Bowls and not just be the Cincinnati Bengals or the Buffalo Bills
22:52
who are close they're great and they'll probably get one eventually maybe but it's just tough to finish the job um so
23:00
there's that and I I'm at the point where I do think they do because I don't think they love Shador Sanders i think
23:06
all their actions all offseason have pointed to them not being in love with Shador Sanders and as much as I try to
23:12
not pay attention to any pre-draft rumors because this I think it's the thing that people are most consistently
23:18
wrong on or just kind of talk out of their ass because it can't be proven wrong until the draft um but everything
23:25
is pointing to them not wanting Shador Sanders at pick three right yeah my
23:31
thought with with with the Giants like to lean on history right they they like to talk about that and they seem to be
23:38
wanting to replicate the Eli thing that's why they went That's why they went with Daniel Jones kind of an Eli
23:44
they thought was a kind of an Eli clone he was coached by the same you know brought up by the same quarterback guru they thought "Okay we've got that guy."
23:51
If you really want to go Giants history you just nailed it go back even further go back to LT the Giants had a solid
23:57
linebacking core when they got LT when they got Banks they had a solid linebacking core but he was sitting
24:03
there you almost let the draft and I've been saying it over and over again let the draft come to you don't force don't
24:08
jump up don't waste extra let it come to you because there are two guys that really could be generational but I'll
24:14
always say a secondary can be beaten if you can't get to the quarterback but you can cover up for a bad secondary if you
24:21
can get after the quarterback yeah absolutely and obviously they're both important i just think I I think a good
24:27
secondary makes helps you win regular season games and get into the playoffs i think a great pass rush is what
24:33
separates you from other great teams in the playoffs um and I I'm off I'm all
24:38
for you on the whole like letting the draft come to you how often do we look back and be like damn we didn't fill the
24:45
the lineer three years ago no we look at the player who went three picks after and like damn I wish we would would have
24:51
got him you know um so I I player available it's something that people
24:57
just say but I I I truly do try to live by by that um especially once you get to
25:02
day three when it's like those guys have don't have much chance of becoming starting level players take the one that you think has the best chance um that
25:09
being said quarterback's different right if I have Abdul Carter ranked ahead of a quarterback but I think that
25:15
quarterback's worthy of a top 10 pick I'm taking the quarterback the issue is Cam's the only guy I see in this draft
25:21
right like that i I don't see that with Shadore um I know he's been a polarizing
25:27
prospect and there's bad criticisms of him but I just I don't think he's worthy
25:32
of that right i don't see the anticipation or the postnap processing that gets accredited in his completion
25:38
percentage he does have an NFL arm he's extremely accurate but he's not like he's not pitiful but he's not somebody
25:45
that I'm betting on being a consistent top 10 quarterback right right and your
25:50
I saw your uh mock draft out on X I think it was today or yesterday that you
25:56
posted it and it looked a lot like the ones that I've been doing in the simulators lately and I think the the
26:03
tragedy for this draft for the Giants is there after Cam there really isn't a quarterback there are a couple maybe
26:09
later in the draft you can maybe take a shot at but you're basically it's a prayer at that point whether they can be
26:15
you again we're trying to find the guy but there are enough people in this draft on on the offensive defensive line
26:22
edge um running back wide receiver especially when you get into the second and third round I think once you get to
26:29
like pick 15 to 20 it drops off rapidly I I'd be shocked to find that teams have
26:36
more than maybe 15 players with first round grades in this draft but I bet you
26:41
they have a lot of second and third round grades so to me you also don't
26:48
want to force picks in the second and third round too unless you really have a conviction on a quarterback because you
26:54
can get a guy in the offensive line or the defensive line and really build up in the trenches and as we found as we
27:01
see in our own division with the Philadelphia Eagles we've got to start getting better in the trenches so I I
27:07
like your draft because it was it seemed to be a trenches draft so that's the direction I would go too yeah and
27:13
fortunately like there's like you know supposed to be a strong defensive tackle group well that's and that's where they
27:19
need the most pieces right like I took in it right the second I took the
27:25
defense back in Virginia in the fourth round and then I took another one the seventh round right like and all different types of players they they
27:31
need bodies there i think Jeremiah led better second best defensive tackle i I think that's a bad a bad room going like
27:38
you have a room that has Dexter Lawrence in it and I think it's a weakness on team that's crazy right so that's going
27:44
to need um addressing and hopefully the the right players are there the right picks and they're not forced to just
27:49
pick a guy because he has that you know position next to his name um so yeah I
27:55
again I again BPA but the trenches is where I want to invest right that the
28:00
Eagles don't just get lucky with their O line deal they invest in it right they don't worry if they have starters there
28:06
at the moment you know they just keep like looking for those guys when when they meet best player available and it's
28:13
no coincidence why they're able to you know bully guys on the offensive line and get after the quarterback with their
28:18
defensive line look at look at how the Dline operated this past year and it wasn't any of the guys from the Super
28:24
Bowl two years ago because they drafted guys when the need wasn't necessarily there i wouldn't be shocked if the
28:30
Eagles take another defensive lineman at 32 there because there's going to be a bunch of defensive tackles like you said
28:36
Harmon but there's somebody unless there's a a a run that I'm not anticipating in the first round on
28:42
defensive tackles somebody's going to be there at 34 for the Giants that's going to be very attractive at defensive
28:48
tackle and like you said the supply in this draft is really good so I easily
28:54
could see them taking two defensive tackles in this draft because because there are a lot of good defensive tackles so they could take one and that
29:00
I think they could take one as high as the second round and they could double dip as as early again as the fourth
29:05
round in this draft on that because I agree with you i think the defensive line group is the one area that re
29:11
really needs a couple more bodies i wouldn't mind if they double dip in the second and the third round like we
29:16
always mock the double dip at positions when it happens and then we look back and like man that worked out for the
29:22
Packers getting Tucker Craft you know that worked out for the Ravens getting Mark Mark Andrews like uh you know it's
29:29
like just take the players like and that's a position where you don't play multiple guys for most of most of the
29:34
game defensive tackle is right so you don't you know it's not like you're it's not like you're double dipping at
29:39
quarterback or you know uh you know you know safety when you already have a good safety or something like that where he's
29:45
going to be useless as a third safety so yeah I'm a big fan of the double dip position because it's if this is the
29:52
strength of the draft let's you know talk about lottery and and taking chances well let's let's make sure we at
29:58
least get one out of those guy good out of those guys and and possibly two well to to to answer it's boss man who I just
30:05
threw up on the screen um if if the Giants don't take a quarterback at three
30:12
so they don't take Sanders where do you think if you think they will take a quarterback and who are you kind of
30:18
leaning towards and I'll preface that by saying I am all in on us getting Jaylen
30:25
Milro don't lead don't lead him that's mine i'm just saying it's mine he's getting his own opinion he's not no
30:31
you're leading him ignore that i strike that this isn't a court for God's sakes
30:36
so Eric I I just you know I've just finished my whole Milro write up and
30:43
unfortunately I'm resigned to the fact that the Giants will take a quarterback on day two even though the hit rate is
30:49
so so low right over the last seven years I think the only two hits on day two and day three and I'm counting a hit
30:55
as like a top 20 QB is Herz and Pretty and those guys both went into awesome
31:01
situations um so I just I don't like doing it but
31:06
if I'm gonna do it I'm gonna take the guy that has like a superpower talent and that's Jaylen Milro now here's the
31:12
thing yep John i don't think Jayen Milro is going to be good right he's inaccurate his his footwork's a mess he
31:20
the blitz just totally ruins his eyes but he's someone where it's like if you get just a 60% of what he's capable of
31:28
you've got at least like a bottom end starter a guy you can win games with there when you take if you take a Kyle
31:33
McCord in the third round it's like what are we what are we even trying for here is this just another Davis Web Kyle
31:39
Letta Kyle yeah exactly just to say that we took a quarterback yeah you know so
31:45
now un again this is part of the situation with Shane is there's no way
31:50
they can sell Jer not coming out of draft with any rookie quarterback um so
31:55
I think that I'm I'm resigned to the fact that there will be a quarterback taken on day two just to say there is
32:01
some sort of plan for the future even though day two and day three cuties are just and and a and a lottery when you
32:09
call the draft a lottery that's the biggest losing ticket you get is the day two and day three quarterbacks the
32:14
reason the reason I'm and I think maybe we're on the same page i I won't speak for you Eric i'm not speaking for him
32:20
i'm just saying the reason I'm on page with with Jaylen Milroe is at a at a baseline I am getting a much more
32:27
athletic Taesm Hill i'm getting a guy that I can bring in he can run some of the stuff that Dable likes to do the
32:33
running game again when we want to switch out we want to get away because we've got Wilson and Winston neither one of those guys is really going to be
32:39
runners anymore you're not that's not incorporated in the offense the way it was with Daniel Jones the way he did it with uh with Josh Allen you're not going
32:46
to have any of those plays but if you want to change it up like the Steelers did with the Justin Fields with Wilson I can bring a Milro in he can run some of
32:52
those things worst case scenario maybe I throw him in it back sometimes and just freak people out what i've got a guy
32:58
that can do other stuff for me no matter what at least it's not a quarterback I swing for defenses he does nothing and
33:04
I'm cutting him later he's got value and he's got athletic ability that's why I want to take that chance with him if he
33:10
never develops as a quarterback I draft one next year anyway yeah that again that and that's why I'm on the page if
33:16
I'm gonna take a swing on anyone it's him because he legitimately great athlete he's not just a good running QB like right he is a great athlete right i
33:24
I posted a couple clips of his runs versus LSU like man this is just nasty the way he's able to move to make guys
33:30
miss and he has a big arm too right like he's got a strong arm he's got to figure out a way to put a little more touch on
33:36
some of his throws and think if he cleans up his for but like you said John he's a like sit one to two years and
33:42
then let's revisit type of player um you know he's not the plan to come in if
33:48
you're four and seven and let's all right let's let's see what we have him the rest of the games of the season even
33:53
though they might do that it's he's someone that you should say we we will not put him on the field in CA unless in
33:59
case of emergency like he's QB3 the entire season we we are work we are
34:04
focused on your development don't worry about what the opponent is doing game plan you worry developing as a
34:11
quarterback and that's it with and that's what I would do if I were to take a swing on a guy like Jaylen Milro and I
34:17
don't have any problem with them drafting him i just would not draft him at 34 i think that No I would be mad if
34:23
they draft him at 34 it's got to be a third round yes you you know I I every year I I put
34:29
like the I tweet out like the picks at the Giants pick from the past 10 years 34 is good man it's it's studs every
34:37
single year it's it's a stud player guys that are Pro Bowls you know Pro Bowlers every single year i'm I'm not taking
34:44
Milro at 34 either like I think Milro will be bad am I willing to take a swing
34:50
in the third round yes but I'm not taking using that 34 yeah because every
34:55
simulation I run there is a really really good player there at 34 one that
35:01
can help on the offensive or defensive line or even if you want to go get a uh
35:07
an impact player on offense still there's somebody there and again it's the opportunity cost if you draft Milro
35:14
there what did you miss out on too so I know again I'm been preaching pounding the table we need a quarterback but you
35:21
can't make a quarterback when one doesn't exist so that's where I'm coming from in this is it's we don't we're not
35:27
going to get a shot at Cam Ward I still think they might call up the Titans on draft day and still make one last shot
35:32
to try to get get Cam Ward i I I I don't write that off but I I don't see the
35:37
quarterback in this draft yeah and I I I'll give you a sneak peek on this tweet they have scheduled for next Wednesday
35:43
lad McConny at pick 34 lecture sam Leaport Christian Watson Elijah Moore not so good michael Pitman Jr rocky and
35:51
Will Hernandez Cam Robinson Jaylen Smith was really good for a long time and Donovan Smith i mean it's Will Hernandez Rocky
36:00
and Elijah Moore are the three misses and those are all starters in the NFL as well right right and and they um they
36:07
could also they're the it's the second pick in the first pick of the three are
36:13
New York players you always get uh you always get you always get teams calling
36:19
up at the top of the second round on day two usually the very first pick gets the most traffic obviously but the Giant I
36:27
mean again I I expect them to use that pick but they may get a they may get some really good offers and if you could
36:32
trade down and still get if you really love Milro at some point maybe later in
36:38
in in the second round but also get maybe another third or fourth round pick i'm more willing to do that but but I
36:44
either keep that pick and use it at another spot or I'm trading down if I get a really a really good offer at that
36:50
spot but yeah like I said I'm willing to take a swing on Milo in the third round
36:56
but I'm not making a priority of like oh hopefully no one else takes him right like someone else takes him ahead of us
37:02
it's hey there goes that swing but I'm not It's no sweat off my brow like he's not he's not a like if if I viewed him
37:08
so highly enough to where you know I that would worry me he'd be someone I'd be looking in the first round and I
37:14
don't think he's he's just not that level of player so if if Ward goes one and Carter goes two are are you thinking
37:21
the Giants should jump on Hunter or is that where you look to maybe you don't look to move down at that point get
37:27
extra picks and maybe take Sanders lower again you got to we have to see what the
37:32
offer was if it was if they if it was a bad team that offered next year first rounder yeah I'd entertain it right if
37:40
say the if the Raiders offered their first round pick next year even then with Gino they might be a little better
37:46
let's say uh you know whatever team that I think will be bad next year no matter what like yeah I'd be willing to
37:53
entertain it but I used to be the trade down guy trade down trey down i've kind
37:59
of that give me the give me good players right right like it all sounds good in theory until you look back and like man
38:05
who did we just pass up on we just passed up Micah Parsons wow that's awesome that's awesome that we now have
38:11
Kadarius Shony and Evan Neil um while we could have had Michael Parson so um yeah
38:17
now obviously the Giants need a quarterback eventually and it sucks right like and this is part of the
38:23
quarterback's position that we hate to admit
38:29
it's part it's just it's a lot of luck that is involved to getting the right quarterback nobody likes to admit that
38:35
about like well what are you going to do at quarterback you just ha if they won three games last year they would have
38:40
had their quarterback instead they won three games in a year where like five different teams won three games and it
38:45
was one of you know the worst years for the bottom of of the league um you know
38:50
it's it's if they you know if they didn't beat the Colts then we just hey take Cam one don't get Eric going sorry
38:57
don't get Eric don't get Eric going jesus Christ like it's just it's it's just un it's
39:04
unfortunate and no one likes to admit um because it's like well that's just not a
39:10
plan i agree right i'm not sitting here be like oh wait for next year's class like I'm not saying that
39:16
I'm I don't believe in this quarterback i'm not taking him you can't talk to me about philosophy and got to take a swing
39:22
eventually all that no I don't think that quarterback is going to be good and I'm not betting on him no matter what
39:29
his name is or what the draft you know you know analyst say I don't think I'm taking quarterback just because of the
39:35
need of quarterback right and I mean and it's not ju it's not just luck sometimes
39:41
it's also system that leads a guy to be successful but if he went to a different team just the way you play Brock Pury I
39:48
don't think Brock Pury would be as successful had he gone to a different team it worked out that the 49ers and that system allowed him to flourish and
39:54
come through i mean hell even Tom Brady was Nobody thought Tom Brady was going to be Tom Brady that's one of those
39:59
weird things so sometimes you just it just really matches up with where you are and then the guy himself you can't
40:07
predict what's inside the guy when he gets a chance to to really prove it any thoughts on because I I said I'd keep it
40:13
pretty tight for you so we're we're at we're at seven so I want to kind of finish that up but thoughts on the Giants possibly then taking Hunter or
40:19
Carter high and trading back in trying to get Jackson Dart what's your thoughts on that
40:25
i I'm I'm out on that if you believe in him good enough to trade back into the first round then just pick him at number
40:31
three and laugh at the draft analyst um or everyone who is roasting at you if if you believe that because you're not like
40:38
so then you get Travis Hunter and then what you traded away pick 34 and pick 65 and a third round pick next year like
40:45
just just if you believe in him that he's worthy of the 20th pick just take him at pick three you're taking that guy
40:51
to be your long-term quarterback take a take a chance if you believe in him enough to pick him at pick 20 um so I'm
40:58
I'm not in on that now it can you can back into it working out right the the
41:03
Ravens drafting Hayden Hurst and then trading up for Lamar Jackson worked out but in hindsight the Ravens should have
41:10
just drafted Lamar Jackson at 25 and not you know took the chance of somebody else getting him what they got Hayden
41:16
Hurst earlier i mean come on yeah not even the best tight end from that class for them it's like they got Lamar
41:23
Jackson and they they drafted a 25-year-old baseball player in the first round
41:28
so before before we let before we let you go um obviously you went you've gone
41:33
through some big changes over the last uh last two weeks really a lot of stuff has changed let folks know all about the
41:40
new stuff that you're doing and I'm sure plenty know already you have exploded immediately moving over to Giant Nation but but tell everybody where they can
41:45
find all your stuff i'm going to link it all in the description after the fact but go ahead and let everybody know where they can now find all your stuff
41:51
Bobby yeah it's Giants Nation Show on YouTube Apple Spotify finally got on
41:57
Spotify after threatening them enough on social media um you know just Giants Nation show on there if you you know
42:03
follow me on socials bobby Skinner it's been exciting man um you know obviously you'll watch the video and I was
42:08
bothered by how things went down and stuff but I gotta build up back some you
42:14
know so some social media accounts and stuff which you know takes time but I I've been having more fun than I've ever
42:20
had it's like it's like doing it start it's starting a fresh people are excited um and I'm having fun i'm excited for
42:26
the draft month gonna do draft previews we're going to stream the entire draft like we're gonna do very similar things
42:32
be different but it'll be um similar and I'm having a lot of fun um so we're just
42:37
right now just trying to go balls to the wall and attack draft month as hard as possible and then figure out how to run
42:42
a business in the summer i just have a quick followup so those that haven't seen it watch Bobby's video explaining I
42:50
think it was like 40-minute video that you did explaining everything that had it was a really good video and I recommend if you haven't seen it
42:56
everyone go back and watch it you did did this group up in uh if they're new
43:02
New Jersey really insist that you be up there to play warehouse games was that really part of the problem that they
43:08
were having because I had to ask people what the hell a warehouse game was in the first place that's how old I am i'm
43:14
like I said what the I'm sorry what the was what is a warehouse game oh man I got to put a note on there so I hate I
43:22
hate to defend them that they but their warehouse games do get a lot of views now they invest a for a warehouse they
43:30
have like so it's not like it's this thing that gets 20 views and people are like they want you to do it like it does
43:35
do good numbers but yeah I was that was kind of like I'm not doing that not
43:40
because I don't want to actually it is because I don't want to do it I'm a 33y old you know man I
43:46
don't I don't want to do that it doesn't help me in my career right and and this was like I'm I'm willing to do things
43:52
that don't just help me as far as a company I'm not I'm not going to be selfish but I felt It would hurt the
43:58
other products and I wasn't willing to do that it would have and you explain that in the video i swing the back with
44:03
my eyes closed my right hand comes off the back i you know if I make contact I could make some power but I I'm not
44:10
going to make contact that often i you know that's I don't want that part of my weekly and you're sitting there going I
44:15
could be breaking down more tape right now and it's and I'm and I'm want I'm playing this so when you said that I'm
44:21
like what what is a warehouse game so so someone on the site told me and I had to bring it up on on YouTube and I'm like
44:28
you got to be kidding me so I think you I think it wasn't it wasn't slaying or code it really they play games in a
44:34
warehouse it is it is what it is god bless you i don't know who's watching that but a lot of I'm not saying it
44:42
doesn't do well it's just it doesn't it doesn't benefit i'm happy that's I don't want to and I don't and and I don't want
44:49
to ask anything you can just tell me john don't I don't want to but just out of curiosity I thought you were very open very um you kind of pulled back the
44:57
curtain on your feelings about the situation you and Justin have been doing this for a while have you two had a chance to talk to each other since that
45:03
time or and and again you could say I don't want to talk about it you may not want to talk yeah I'm not going to go too deep into it i mean we have i'm sure
45:10
at some point we will i think the wound is a little fresh sure and I think where
45:15
I probably did Justin a little wrong is I didn't share everything on why I was
45:22
um bothered by right there there there is other stuff it's and it's not that
45:27
necessarily just wrong it's just it's it you know I long story short is I would
45:36
have left if they did that to him that I mean that's kind of the long story short but hey it is what it is there's there's
45:43
other stuff um that's again not like oh he sinned or he did something terrible to me it's just it's the the wound's a
45:50
little fresh i'm sure we'll talk at some point i'm not wishing any ill will against him or anything it's just
45:56
there's when things break up it doesn't go well and I'm sure we'll we'll reconcile well
46:03
and talking Giants was your baby too so I mean and I've talked with my wife and
46:08
I would have been pretty to be honest with you I would have been pretty pissed so 99% 95% of the gripe was with them
46:16
and my thing was is I told All right this is this is the last I'll say
46:21
you guys are good you got I'm bad i'm bad at keeping things is when I asked to keep the talking giant stuff it wasn't
46:28
simply like well I started it it should be mine right it was I don't think it's going to go well for you guys if you
46:34
keep it so let's let's let's keep all let's give the best case scenario for all and part of that is Justin like
46:40
Justin got a lot of hate because of their their decision to keep it sure even if you know even though that he
46:46
wanted like he got like if where if they had not done that like hey I take it um
46:52
has you know his stuff that he's doing if he if he can build up another Giant show or whatever but it's just
46:58
unfortunately now it's people are hating them like and it's it could have been avoided if it was just like yeah Bobby
47:04
did start this we you know we understand why he doesn't want to be here we we all wish each other well obviously nothing
47:11
end nothing ends on great on fully mutual terms but it would have been less public if it was just hey you did create
47:19
this this is not going to do well without you right so it is what it is i you know I'm rooting for Justin to do
47:24
well it's just you most my gripe weren't really with Justin and I tried to make
47:30
him least focal point of all that but because we we did it for six years people are like people are obviously
47:36
going to focus on that yeah of course of course well I apprec I appreciate that so I'm going to link all your stuff
47:41
after the fact i'll I'll do the the pieces in the write up but uh first off thanks for thanks for coming on i know
47:47
we were going to keep it tight to So la absolute last question any I mean at
47:52
this point you're leaning towards you think the Giants will take who at number three who do you think is ultimately
47:58
going to be their guy whoever of Abdul Cord or Travis Hunter is available so I'll I'll come down and
48:04
say one i think Travis Hunter ends up being the pick wow okay okay all right
48:10
so uh we'll we'll look forward to keep following you we'll definitely catch love to catch up again down the road uh
48:16
great you know continued success you have taken off like crazy since you moved over to Ginus Nation the following
48:21
from the other show has jumped and followed you here uh your O line breakdowns is how I got originally
48:27
introduced to you a number of years ago and those were those were awesome um so uh yeah happy to have you on and uh it's
48:34
Bobby against the world so well it's Giants Nation for life now for
48:39
life that's right that's right fo nice i like that so cool well Bobby I appreciate you coming on enjoy the the
48:45
the rest of your night and uh we'll we'll catch up with you again down the road thanks guys talk soon
48:53
all right that was that was awesome yeah that was really cool we're staying on for a few minutes right we're gonna stay
48:59
on for a few minutes it was our first attempt at inviting somebody to come to the live stream we've we've recorded
49:05
people elsewhere and then shared that we haven't This is the first time and we're using um we're using Streamlabs to do
49:12
this for the live pieces so we're still getting used to a lot of stuff right i don't know he's a little choppy on his
49:18
Well and I'm wondering if it's his I'm I'm I'm beginning to think that it might be coming from my feed even though I'm
49:24
clear as can be to me you guys are choppy but we are having some really heavy thunderstorms it's been it's a
49:31
second time in a row for our show and I kept thinking I saw some lights flicker and I'm like ah i'm like that's not
49:37
good but so far so good but that was awesome that was good we got got a lot of a lot of good talk there a lot of
49:43
stuff that you and I have talked about so I want to back up real quick you are more pro and I'm not putting words in
49:49
your mouth i'm not saying you're all for him but you're more pro Sanders than I
49:54
am so what were your thoughts now after hearing Bobby's talk about about Sanders and how do you feel still if the Giants
50:01
took Sanders at three as I said on the last show it I I'm kind
50:08
of in in a situation where I'm not going to be completely thrilled with any pick
50:13
i I and I'm going to explain that the best obvious choice is to take Hunter or
50:20
Carter and if they get either one of those that that's a home run okay the the the number one home run would have
50:25
been if they had the number one overall pick and took Ward that's off the table if they can't get him which they're not
50:33
going to get him getting getting one of the other two that's a home run though that I'm I'm perfectly happy but in the
50:39
back of my head is what a lot of people in chat were saying while we were talking to Bobby when are we going to get the quarterback so part of me is
50:46
like okay we're going to punt on the quarterback again and it's probably the
50:52
right decision to do now somebody raised a very good point and but you can't
50:57
think like this what if what if they pass on Shadur and Shadur again becomes like Knicks but better you know it it's
51:04
the same type of situation the Giants aren't really going to compete seriously again until they fix the quarterback
51:10
situation long term that's where I'm at i'm just I I look at this draft and I Shador I'm not crazy about him i but I
51:16
do think he's better than people are giving him credit for but I'm not taking him at three at this point i I wouldn't
51:22
do it and um would could they sure i wouldn't I will not be shocked if you
51:27
and I when we're doing our live stream on draft day if they say um Giant you
51:32
know with the third overall pick the Giants take Shadur Sanders and you and I are like you know like this I won't be
51:39
shocked if they do that i I don't think you would be either i would be happy right right i wouldn't be shocked
51:47
um I will say that I have if he drops and I do think he'll drop some if he
51:54
gets into the 10 to 15 range you got to start wondering if the Giants are trying
52:01
to come back into the into the draft but that gets to to the point like that
52:06
Bobby was making if you feel that passionately about him then why why would you do that the only way I trade
52:12
down if you really like Shadur the only people I would be talking to are
52:19
the Patriots and the Jaguars because I think you can get I mean obviously no
52:24
the Patriots trade up they're only trading up one spot to make sure that they could get Hunter or Carter but I
52:29
would think it I think I think more than likely I think it would be Yeah yeah i think so so So it's kind of like the
52:34
shocky deal year when we traded up one spot to make sure we got we got them so because and someone asked me on Twitter
52:41
today well why the hell would New England do that well because New England's got to worry about if Jacksonville's calling the Giants and
52:48
offering something serious too sure so so now the risk in that is somebody could jump ahead of
52:56
um us with New England if we trade down to the Jaguars but I'm I'm I'm willing to take that kind of risk i don't think
53:03
I don't think people are that high on on on on Shadore maybe that's dumb on my
53:08
part but that's the only way I trade down for if I'm interested in Shadore so this is where this is where I'll argue
53:14
against both what Bobby said and what you said mhm
53:19
it has nothing to do with Shadur at three it has to do with where do you have Carter if you have Carter as the
53:28
best player in this draft period right like and they may and they may and on on
53:34
their board and and like Bobby said and there's truth to it if Carter could be here and Ward is here that means Ward is
53:41
really above because you have a need at quarterback sure sure but if you're talking Carter's number one Ward is off
53:47
the board so the quarterback position is now Sanders if Sanders is this much above Dart and he might be we don't know
53:54
that but Carter is the number one player you take Carter and now Sanders becomes that's our next best quarterback and now
54:02
he's sitting at a spot that we could go get him i could see that carter to me and we talked about this a long time ago
54:08
i was on board with Carter a while back especially when I thought we were gonna have Stafford especially when I thought
54:13
we were going to have Rogers i wanted Carter carter makes you a three-headed monster on the outside and it relieves
54:18
us of having to give Tibido a longer extension we could just we could just do the the uh the pick up the fifth year
54:25
option let it ride out and see what happens and then you've got a Carter on one side Burns on the other you got
54:31
Tibido we can mix those guys we can move them around we're not held hostage by if one guy's injured we're screwed right so
54:38
I like that fact but the the next part though is the quarterback now I am not on board i asked a question but I'm
54:44
actually not on board with trading back in i go Carter at three and we're going to talk about this more and I want I do
54:49
want to bring up some other things that are coming up but I would go Carter at three if he's sitting there i'm not as on board with Hunter but whatever so
54:57
Carter at three i'm with you and you've you've won me over on this i want one of
55:04
the defensive tackles at 34 there's too many good ones now they're so good i mean there there's going to be a and if
55:10
they don't if if those guys don't drop an offensive lineman's going to be there well that's where I was going to say if you've got one of those sort of he's
55:17
kind of a tackle but he could also be guard but he has that that that kind of ability to be either one so the guy out
55:23
of Oregon I think is one of one of the options you could look at he could play tackle he could play guard there's there's a bunch of those guys too yeah
55:30
yeah and then there's there some pure guards that are just really good you could look there but defensive tackle
55:36
the guy out of Ohio State I'm looking at Oh yeah grant of Grant of Michigan if M
55:41
if he falls out of 32 I'm looking to make sure he's sitting there at 34 i gobble him up i keep seeing people
55:48
saying that guy won't get to us but I Well I've run a million this This is
55:56
This is driving my wife crazy whoever told me to start doing these draft simulators like a week ago I've been
56:03
doing them non-stop i love them but there's always a defensive tackle there
56:08
that shouldn't be there every time I run a simulation now maybe again these are simulations doesn't mean anything but I
56:14
think this draft is so deep at defensive tackle it's going to be like running back i think some teams are going to say
56:20
"We can get our defensive tackle later in the draft we can get our running back later in the draft." So I think these
56:26
guys are going to drop and I think somebody's going to be there and that that can help us big time that you can
56:32
plug next to um so say "All right say you get Carter
56:38
at three he is an incredible pass rusher he is he is he's like lightning i've
56:44
talked about it before it's like watching the old Techmo um football game where LC was at a different speed he's
56:50
at a different speed right not the best run defender in the world he can work on that but he's not the best run defender
56:57
in the world burns Tibidel especially Burns really good at rushing the passer not the best run
57:04
defenders in the world if you put Williams the Ohio State tackle next to
57:11
Dexter that's a wall of meat just with two guys then your guys on the ends are
57:16
going to have a lot more freedom to do their business so the part of the
57:22
problem is it's not just been that um Dexter is a one-man show there he but
57:28
you have to pull him out of the game at times because he needs a break so that's why I agree with Bobby get two defensive
57:34
tackles in this draft and every time I run a simulation somebody around fourth fifth round and I'm still thinking well
57:39
I need this position i need this position but then I look at the value and I'm like that guy's not supposed to be there and I'm like you know what
57:46
having two really good defensive tackles even if one of those guys doesn't start soon it's the Philadelphia Eagles model
57:54
it's bring them in waves and that's what we got to get to well imagine right you if you go
58:00
linebacker you know we we we put Carter out there that dude can he can play a lot i mean we say he he can be edge he
58:07
could play inside if he had to on linebacker on passing downs you could bring him in and rush up the middle you could So you could really have three
58:14
big-time pass rushers on the field at the same time depending on how you want to line up you get a defensive tackle
58:19
NASCAR exactly you get a defensive tackle at two now we've got we're
58:24
basically building an entire front that can be gamechanging right so let's say they do that let's say you go Carter
58:30
let's say you go defensive tackle now in three now I want to now I'm willing to maybe even trade take my two threes and
58:37
jump up to maybe get Milro if I want to get him if I'm if I'm convinced but if not there's some receivers that are
58:44
going to drop into the third round the Giants have been looking very heavily at running back why would Milro want to go
58:50
to the draft does Do you think he knows something well I don't They generally don't ask to go they usually are asked
58:56
to go and if and if the NFL is asking them to go they have an inclination that they could i think a lot of people are
59:03
pegging Milro to be another Lamar Jackson coming in very late in the first round don't discount Baltimore as a team
59:12
that might do that because now you've got a guy and if he doesn't even if he doesn't develop to what Lamar is you
59:20
don't have to change your offense at all because you you're going to do a lot of That's actually a really good point John
59:25
they could that that's a good fit for them um Milro to me is one of the most interesting
59:31
um whatifs in this draft because again the odds of him turning into a really good quarterback are not good right what
59:39
if he does the combining with the running it's it's unbelievable you know that so it's
59:47
a gamble on greatness thing but it's one of those gamble on greatnesses that the pay I mean you get like a 10 or a 20%
59:53
chance tops that it's going to pay off for you so when I do these simulations second in that third round
1:00:01
pick at the top of the third round there are some really good football players there and maybe the the positions and
1:00:08
this is one thing I will say to fans out there and and this is just something that that drives me nuts on draft day is
1:00:15
sometimes and I feel I I I fall victim to this sometimes too you get so focused
1:00:20
on we need this we need a quarterback we need an offensive lineman we need this we need that that sometimes you and and
1:00:29
when you do take that player you don't focus on the fact well the guy may not be that good and then a year from now
1:00:35
you're still trying to fill that hole so don't always focus on the position it drives me crazy every year on the draft
1:00:41
where somebody says well we didn't need uh another linebacker that that's not
1:00:47
the point you want a player that's going to be there for eight nine ten years and play at a high level you don't want to
1:00:53
get somebody that well he crosses off a need but he's out of the league after his rookie contract so right that's
1:00:59
where I'm coming from so the Evan Neil draft for example and again it shouldn't have panned out that way everyone said "We got to get an offensive lineman
1:01:08
with one of those two picks." If you could go back and do it again I guarantee you hardly any Giant fan would
1:01:13
go back and take an offensive lineman with one of those two picks because the other two linemen that went too they didn't they haven't really lived up to
1:01:19
their draft status either you would have gone back and taken some a player at another position you would have taken the receiver that the Jets took well his
1:01:26
history if you really pay attention to it there are a lot of first round high first round top 10 lot of whiffs at
1:01:34
offensive line yeah especially at tackle those guys it tends to be the guy that like like if you look at the Giants
1:01:40
right 1988 we draft who did we draft in the first round eric Moore who did we draft in the second round jumbo Elliott
1:01:46
who was the better offensive line for the New York Giants jumbo Elliott so remember the Jason Seahhorn draft too
1:01:52
who didn't we Thomas we had Thomas Rand off the same draft yeah yeah so um we
1:01:58
we're going to keep this tight we wanted to stick to an hour we did that um I do go on and on we could there's a lot
1:02:04
There's a lot let's keep it short we actually have a lot of We have a lot of coming up so you want to drop the
1:02:10
one guest that we're Yeah I am i'm I'm gonna drop the thing now we're going to record this one it's not going to be live and I'm not going to tell you the
1:02:15
day just in case something weird happens to get moved but Howard Cross uh will be coming on so we're going to be recording
1:02:22
an episode with Howard Cross we're going to talk a lot about more current Giants uh we we'll try to set something up in
1:02:28
the future talk past but current Giant stuff with Howard uh we also want to talk to Howard about his son who's in
1:02:34
the draft i'd like to get some some thoughts on that as well so we'll be talking to Howard Cross we are going to
1:02:39
be guests on New York Rush on their show on Wednesday night and that's on Wednesday wednesday night and then we're
1:02:46
still we're we're in the process of finalizing he did say he'd come on so we're finalizing getting Carl Banks so
1:02:51
yeah and that'll be cool too so fun stuff carl Banks and and again I think we're going to talk to Howard this week
1:02:57
because because most of the interest is on the draft his son being in the draft
1:03:02
too um and we'll talk about current Giant stuff but I'd love to have Howard
1:03:08
Cross come back on again and talk about the old Giant stuff because he is he's
1:03:13
number three in all time list in games played as a New York Giant only Eli Manning and Michael Strahan are above
1:03:18
him and he he he played under a bunch of coaches and viewpoint on all that would
1:03:25
be great so so we've got we got a lot of stuff going on but uh yeah it was fun
1:03:30
having Bobby on it was it's it's good to be able to do stuff uh it's not like it's not like I don't have a lot of I I
1:03:36
mean I I can't speak for you but it's not like I don't have a lot of other going on at the same time so it's trying to arrange all this stuff and
1:03:41
we've got the draft thing coming up pretty soon um and that's going to be fun we're going to be live streaming
1:03:47
during the draft and I and I guarantee you there will be an Fbomb drop that the Giants go in a really weird direction
1:03:53
i don't know if this is a good idea or not but it is i I think it'll be a lot of fun it'll be a lot of fun i just hope
1:03:59
we're like this instead of like grab John Mar grabbing the chair and you know
1:04:05
Yeah right you know I it trust me if I grab a chair it's going a lot further than John Mar's did i can promise you
1:04:12
that even with the wrist broken wrist and all but if I'm lucky if I'm lucky this stupid cast comes off on Wednesday
1:04:17
so that's what I'm that's what I'm hoping for maybe you shouldn't be throwing chairs then yeah well with your bat knee Ed you shouldn't be throwing
1:04:23
anybody what movie what movie is that from oh come on anybody knows it in chat
1:04:28
with your bad knee head you shouldn't be throwing anybody oh I know it's on the tip of my tongue
1:04:35
oh my god i can't believe I can't remember this all right give it up because no one's doing it ferris Beller
1:04:41
my hero i love that that's the secretary it's the secretary yes yes absolutely
1:04:47
all right so with that we're gonna we're gonna wrap it up please like subscribe all that good stuff i really appreciate
1:04:52
it we're over 1,50 subscribers we're really cruising um we we've we've got a
1:04:58
lot of views i'm hoping to really build this more eric and I are putting a lot of a lot of time and effort into it and we just we want it to be fun and and
1:05:04
really grow so if you could I'd appreciate it and other than that we'll uh we'll call it a night and we'll see
1:05:10
you guys uh later this week and make sure you watch uh New York Rush as well on Wednesday night when we're we're guesting on there and watch them in
1:05:16
general we'll give him a shout out
