2025 Ford Mustang GTD Spirit of America First Look

Hey everyone, it is Mike from Auto Guide and I am back

So do you remember the Ford GtD, you know, the 815 horsepower, 644 pound feet of torque

Super Mustang that fort took over to Europe and set a sub seven minute time, the fastest

error for an American car? Well, they're already starting to bring out special editions, even though the car's barely

on sale. And it sounds like this will be the first of many. So first up is the Mustang GTT Spirit of America

Ford claims this honors, now let me get this right here, the 60 years of Mustang achievement from its first win in the 1964 tour to France

to becoming the first American car to lap the Fang Nureberg ring in less than seven minutes

The whole package is inspired by Craig Brelove and his top speed cars that set many records

such as being the first to 500 miles an hour and the first to 600 miles an hour

So Ford's positioning this whole combination that's, with Breedlove being the sort of working class guy

who went and bought a used to jet off a Korean fighter and then went to Europe and beat all of their best top speed racers that were better funded So they saying that a similar story to the Mustang that in the 60s the designers and the company took over to Europe and it started winning races

Now I'm not fully convinced Ford gets to be the David and a David and Glythe story in the 60s

when America cars were booming. But forget about that. Let's get into what makes the Mustang GTD

Spirit of America the spirit of America. So starting with the exterior, the car is painted in performance white

and there are two stripes running the length of the car one in race red and one in lightning blue those of you that are Mustang fanatics will know those are the three colors Ford offered originally in 1964 on the car and it just so happens it also matches the coveralls that Craig Breed love wore when he was setting his records

owners will have a choice of race red or exposed carbon fiber for the end plates on the spoiler and across the whole thing it says Mustang now Ford makes some cheeky joke about so the cars behind you know

just passed them but seriously it's a little over the top and I hope there's a way

that owners could maybe not get that but then again if you're getting the flashy spirit of America package you probably don't care but to me it's

sort of like the people who buy personalized license plates and put the exact car name or trim on the plate like yeah we get it we can read the car we don need to read on the plate but anyway moving on of course the front splitter the rear diffuser and that spoiler have exposed carbon fiber to both save weight and to look cool and racy of course the gtd performance package is standard on the vehicle to make sure that the special edition doesn just look fast but it can also go fast inside there are a couple of unique touches for the spirit of america as well first up

the seats have, let me see if I can get this, right, leather trimmed with dynamica inserts

So they're mostly black, but they have race red stripes down the middle and what Ford calls

re-entry white ts on the exterior with Victory Blue contrast stitching. So all four colors are

combined in that seat. There's other Victory Blue trim bits here and there throughout the cabin

to add a little splash of color. Finally, the paddle shifters, the shift ring, the IP badges

They are all available in 3D printed titanium as well if you're so inclined

So looking at the car, I kind of like the overall design and package

I think I would go with the red mirror caps but probably the carbon fiber side plates on the spoiler The mirrors would match the red brake calipers but I think on the spoilers maybe just a bit much but that personal taste and of course I

would not want that Mustang on the bottom and if you can't get rid of it you could always just wrap it as soon as the car arrives but the rest of the package

I like the stripes they're pretty thin and subtle and this is a crazy race

ready Mustang so I think it totally suits the image of the vehicle and you

know it's not going to be long before people are buying similar stripes and

putting red mirror caps on regular Mustang GTs. So of course the two questions you may be asking yourself

when is it go on sale and how much is it going to cost? Well we don't know those for sure yet but safe to say the GTD is already quite

pricey and this will just add to that already steep price tag

So if you have the want and the means and you get this car you're probably going to be the only one on your block if not your city with it

so it will be ultra exclusive and like i said there's probably more packages like this to come down the road
